I remember seeing one of these in the moss green color back when I lived in an apartment below my aunt. It was in the garage and the bag was as old as dust no pun intended. I kinda wished I kept it because from this video it looks like it cleans great.

I have the 3550 variant in my hands right now. My mother has had it since the 90s. Unfortunately the original brush bearings failed and I have not been able to find a single replacement brush. Is there anywhere you'd recommend?

Nice video of this model. This was very advanced for the 90s. I have the newer black model with the 12 amp motor and the filtrete exhaust filter. It works like a beast. The automatic height adjustment seems to work pretty good. The suction and airflow is very impressive. It is kind of funny how these have strong suction, but the motor on these are actually kind of small. The bagless model apparently had issues with the 2 prongs melting. I’ve never had that happen or seen that on these bagged model. The bagless models leak dust like crazy, which is their huge down fall. I think theses are way better than a shark in my opinion.

These definitely have fantastic airflow for what they are. And although I do have a bit of nostalgia for the later Lift Off's, I do admit these older ones are far more superior to those newer ones with the "copy and pasted" Cleanview bagless system.

Nice find man I been always wanting to try a bissell Lift Off Bagged for a long time and I do know these are recalled because of these 2 pong’s instead of 3 pongs
I think the bisssll plus and lift off bagged came out from late 90s and they discontinued in 2003 or 2004 they replaced with bissell lift off Bagless in 2004 they have a recalled because of the 2 pongs then they discontinued in 2005 they replaced bissell lift off revolution and bissell lift off multi cyclonic they replaced with 3 pongs

Those later Lift Off's don't hold a candle to these older ones in terms of overall performance though.

I like your collection! I took my 1999 Hoover Breathe Easy Soft-Guard (with the 3-layer allergen final filter on the front) mostly all apart for the first time, because I needed a new belt and wanted to clean it. There's a 6-point star bolt/screw about 3/4 inch long with a thick head that I put with my screws, but I can't remember if it came out of the vac or not. I'm fairly sure it did, but I don't see anywhere it would go. This isn't the long bolt with nut. Do you know if it came out of this and where it goes? Thanks!

I don't believe it did, usually those Elites used 4 philips screws to hold on the fan chamber to the motor housing.

@@graysonsvacsandmowers5426 Thanks for replying. I think you're right. In addition to the 4 phillips for the fan chamber, there's 10 other silver phillips screws: 4 to hold the motor to the base, 2 to hold the flex hose to the base, and 4 for the bottom plate. There's also 4 small brown phillips screws to hold the hood on. There's no other screw hole. I must have put this star-head screw next to the others by mistake.
