In Ancient Greece, a hecatomb (ἑκατόμβη, εκατόν βόες) was a sublime sacrifice to the gods (Zeus and Apollo among others) of 100 cattle (hekaton = one hundred, bous = bull). Τhe offering was offered to the gods during special religious ceremonies in order to gain atonement. Εκατομβαιώνα was called the month that this offering took place. In the ancient greek calendar that month was between June and July.
Thus far, 15th of June is not a random date for the release of the 3rd Opus of Funeral Mist. Arioch again attains to realese darkness from creating fire. All alone again, Arioch , this godly one-man band is here to remind us that black metal is a lone path. This hermetic
chant of pain and misery is everything I needed from the new album. After the holy grail that reings under the cult of Maranatha, this new allbum is a prospectus οf everything that ladens with the power and glory of black metal. Funeral Mist achieved simply to bring sullenness and overcast our summer. Hail to Arioch, the bringer of decay.

COCKATRICE: Furious riffs, devastating drums, poisonous vocals and bleak minimal “Burzum” keyboard sounds. That’s how I like my black metal anno 2018. A classic in the making this song. Pure violence.

Been following Funeral Mist since the beginning. Arioch has crafted something unique and different with this one as he always does on all of his releases. This is rad.
Black metal that's unique and different with the same Satanic message is ALWAYS the best! Black is my favorite genre, it's a pity so many bands are boring though. Funeral Mist however, is a gem!

Hey, think what you want, even when its worshipping only because of the great "name" of the singer of Marduk. In my opinion nothing beside Marduk is the real deal here. His sideprojekt is crap and this here is not boring, the "salvation" album is all that we can discuss but I think his best influence in Marduk was Wormwood, which is a masterpiece. Even when I like the old Marduk more, because Legion was way better for that band. There are no melodies no more. But who cares. I listen to the old records. Only one actual band kills it all: Belphegor. No need for that experimental hippie thing here.

I don't understand all of this comparisons with Marduk. Are you deaf?This is typical Funeral Mist - album! Vocal experiments, weird sounds, mighty bass... Yes, this is not Salvation-2 or Maranatha-2, but who want this? "Hecatomb" is another one masterpiece from Arioh. And I'm thankfull and happy!

I believe one or more of the members of this band were also in Marduk? don't quote me on that but thats what i've heard and probably why you always see marduk mentioned on FM videos.
I would want a Maranatha 2.0 for real, although I'm sure not even FM could top it. No, this is not a regular FM album, far from it, as this one is quite conservative to be FM, but still a very good album.

Well, to all those opposing UA-cam "piracy". This one here is a fine example. Listened to the album from here and there for maybe 10 minutes at max before ordering it. Yeah, I was (very well) aware of Funeral Mist already. But this is the case with many a lot less-known bands also. I have lots of physical albums, and UA-cam is a fine way to find them out...

If you were like "What the...?" at the beginning it is because you just discovered the band with this album which is pretty sad for a "Black Metal Promotion" channel. Otherwise you would immediately recognize it's signature.

BEST ALBUM FM
I was totally stoned the other night and put this on my headphones while going to sleep. It stoved my head in! I had to listen to it again straight away. Four play throughs later and i was wide awake having had a kind of stoned black metal experience the like of which I've not had since the early 90's while doing bongs and listening to Satyricon's Shadowthrone.

-I- May i say something to those people whos are little bit disappoited about a work at this album created by Arioch.After fucking 9years in total silence where he was very busy in Marduk coz every one knows that Marduk is still number one for him.Why you ask me? Coz i spoke with Arioch 3years ago on the tour Marduk in London and he told me that he's centre on a work in Marduk. But for me this album is much more brutal much more fucking faster but still as you heard each one of you some part slower. My final words are ... Very great work done at this album after 9years i was awaiting soo long to long.... Hail Arioch -I-

Amazing album, at first I wasn't impressed but it's growing on me. Hosanna is mind-blowing.
There are clear similarities to Marduk on this album, a lot of the riffs, the vocals (obviously), and especially during the blast beat parts, but there's also a lot of stuff on here that you would never hear on a Marduk album. I give these guys props: I was sold on this one from the very first riff. 🤘☠️
Can't wait for the hard copy, the lyrics will round this thing out. Great stuff

One of my favorite BM releases in 2018 so far. Metamorphosis stands out, the riffs are just mind blowing. I hear some Marduk especially in Shedding Skin, which isn't a bad thing.

FM is much more insane than Marduk. I hear that difference easily, but it's hard to describe it.

Nah just more of atmospheric animalistic vocals cringe Black metal, its a good record but not even close to being similar to old work which made it unique, no doubt this does remind me of Marduk and few other records i heard in the lastr few years

Fair enough, i think i was thinking more about the whole sound and production compared to previous releases. To be honest didnt know this thing was released until almost 2 years after. I like it but dont find it as gritty and dark
At one point i think i was like its all about Marduk now, no more Funeral Mist, kind of like No Mans Child, all about Dimmu haha,. Didnt expect Marantha 2 and even that was a sound shift compared to first 2 releases, its all taste, its all subjective :)

It took me a few listens but I'm starting to really like this album
all FM albums needs more than 3 listens. Is an hard-to-understand kind of black metal. Alien and strange riffage, rhytms, vocals. My fav band of all times of all genres :)

except the last album of Marduk which is a "disappointement" , Daniel brought more aggression and new freshness / ideas . Before he came - Marduk tended to be boring however Marduk did some amazing albums.
Marduk sucked before Arioch joined. Ever since he did though, they because incredible. He has a unique sound that Legion can only pray to get even with.

Well, this is lightyears better than the latest Marduk album. Mortuus is beyond amazing here.
My latest farts were lightyears away from the last Marduk album....
Funeral Mist will always be superior to Marduk. However, Wormwood and Serpent Sermon are absolutely outstanding! The older I get the less I actually like.. I used to be that kid who loved anything and everything.. now I'm picky (not elitist, just picky) and FM destroys Marduk musically.
@@gigsinglasgow4215 I started my "black metal fan career" in the late 90ies with bands like Marduk or Dark Funeral, because 15/16-year old me preferred "production value" over atmosphere and emotions... Nowadays those bands bore me to death, because they have nothing interesting to offer apart from good sound, technique and blastbeats...
