The Nice Guidance is far too fast for me after being on Temazepam for now 32yrs(now transfered over to Diazepam 15mg) ,and I've had weeks of arguments with my GP when trying to explain that they the surgery are trying to rush me off this drug, telling me to take more amounts off each 3/4 weekly periods, which I am refusing to do and to let me go at my own pace.I am so glad I came across Mark's suggestion and his graphs today,as now I can direct my DRs to refere to hyperbolic tapering and can explain to them in a rational way, instead of having arguments ,which can be very stressful when you are trying taper from this wicked drug.
I’m 11 days out after finishing 13 month micro taper from Ativan. The worst symptom by far is benzo belly. Hoping my stomach will heal in the next year.
His stuff is SO good. Thank you Mark for thinking for yourself. My hubs always says to me...the Dr's won't care until it happens to them. Case in point. Mark knows all abt what tapering is like, and how difficult it is. The lack of support & knowledge around tapering off long term use is awful, on top of tapering for years on end with the horrible side effects you have to endure.
What help is there for those suffering Bind ? I’m 18 months off and I still suffer from muscular skeletal and neurological symptoms. No Dr has acknowledged the damage caused by benzodiazepines.
I have found this Diazepam taper to be a complete roller coaster ride, with no rhyme or reason. I have four main symptoms when I reduce a dose that usually last 10 days: Increased fatigue, pain in my neck joints or shoulder muscles, insomnia and stomach cramps. I have also started experiencing random nerve pains. All the symptoms eventually go, but are pretty bl**dy awful and painful and torturous. Then it all starts again 2 weeks later when I do another taper cut. Sometimes I get worse symptoms the lower the dose I cut. So I try to cut more, and get another withdrawal symptom altogether, that is very unpleasant. I think the UK NICE taper schedule Mark mentioned is pretty much the Dr Ashton one. On paper I was on a low dose of Diaz at 15mg, but I am not even half way off that dose 2 1/2 years after I started tapering ! I cannot see myself completely off til mid or late 2024, unless I have a miracle. But you are better off getting off these things, and better to get off at your own pace than have a Dr just stop prescribing for you one day when you are not ready for it. I never want to be tied to prescription meds again.
I know a patient that he is working with, don’t worry about tolerance, we are already in tolerance with the med, just taking it to stove withdrawal. Most groups and forums don’t understand withdrawal and push you to taper and become more destabilized , where this often comes from rapid tapers, take other meds, supplements, drink, etc. If we were 15+ years on it, than maybe he would take it in consideration, but not the case, this is what he said, so stick to the plan I guess

So glad for Mark’s work in this research.
Thank you for this information, its so valuable. Keep informing people of these toxic effects.
I'm so thankful for his work.

I started tapering from 15mg valium about last October, using the slow regime. I'm down to 4mg now, so I don't know what the fuck you've been doing.
Thanks
did anyone ask him if demylinating antigens are due to long term benzo use?
Sorry I missed this. Did anyone ask him if this can still apply to people in tolerance Withdrawal?
Yes. We did ask about tolerance withdrawal.
What did he say?
I know a patient that he is working with, don’t worry about tolerance, we are already in tolerance with the med, just taking it to stove withdrawal.
