Is that you standing beside the tree in the 2022 photo?
@@CrocodileTear No, sir, but it is a real picture of a person standing on the same tree. Thank you
@@Ww2worldwar2 I hope you do realize that that is me, Jean-Loup Gassend, stading beside the tree in the photo?
@@CrocodileTear Oh my God, this is really you. Thank you, and I hope that it will not bother you at all to take a picture of this content that I provide. Thank you, respect and appreciation. ❤❤🫡
The old pictures should be posted at the sites so future generations will not forget.
Absolutely
Thank you for keeping history alive. We must never forget the events of WWII. We must remember it so we don’t repeat it. Thank You 🫡
True words sir, thank you for watching and do not forget to like the video 🌟❤️🕰️
Can almost feel the energy left behind by the souls of many.

Love the then and now series
🎥♥️♥️♥️
Much closer to a return to this than I'd like.

My Grandfather was in Operation Dragoon as a member of The U.S./Canada First Special Service Force.

Amazing photos and so sad and haunting may they all R.I.P ❤️

Amazing what has been under foot all those years ago & forgotten, great video & music
Excellent collection of photos and the music was I thought very suitable. Thank you
🎶🕰🙏❤
I somehow came across these old comparison photos. I have to say that they are so moving, and poignant, I have shed a tear looking at several of your videos. Seeing quaint streets where 80 years ago some poor soldier died, and yet people are driving by today totally unaware. I agree with another commenter. These before and after images should be posted on the spots they were taken, so people never forget and we also never forget these young men who gave their lives, what ever side they believed in. I found the image at 6:07 of the Dutch Pastor tending to German soldiers so compassionate and moving.

I love these photos. To me those places are holy ground.

Very cool. Great music.

Looking at these pictures I remember how my dad told me what it was like every night getting woken up by the airraid sirens going to the bomb shelters counting how many bombs were dropped and wondering howbof your mates you would see in the morning or that night when you returned home he lived and grew up in Coventry his school was bombed one night the same time the cathedral was bombed until he died he could tell you how many bombs were dropped and how many of each kind and he wasn't wrong thank you for posting

Seeing the photos in color makes them more real.
HAUNTING well named but BRILLIANT. Thank you I just love them.

@@mattbutler3852 Thank you
I agree with the fact that we should never forget what happened. My grandparents were of the greatest generation, but when you got a governor like ours who think that the truth of WW2 shouldn't be taught to children. It makes it hard to teach the lesson of war and hate so it is not repeated.
Thanks a lot for the video
🙏❤️❤️🤎🏞️
Thanks you for build this picture collections.
Thank you, and please share and like the video because it helps me provide more
Whatever music that is, I love it. I wish you had shared the name with us. The pictures are very interesting, historically.

I can't believe all these countries had to live thru this. Literally in their back yard fighting. How horrible 😢
A side by side format has more impact.
The last of that generation is slipping away from us. My relatives in Germany don't like to speak of those days much. They were hard times and traitorous times. The German people made up things of other people in order to get on the good side of the Allied forces and it was up to the accused to prove their innocence before the authorities.
Our last trip to Germany to visit our loved ones, they showed documents to me that were meant to prove their innocence back in the late 40's. It was an eye opener. Many Germans went with the flow of things because to do otherwise meant incarceration of not just you but your family also. If you showed any signs of disapproval with Hitler's regime, someone could tell on you and the Gestapo would come to visit. Horrible times.
🙏🙏

The first time I was ever in Europe in Vienna it kind of freaked me out to think that I was in the same streets and buildings that Nazi soldiers used to be in. I almost expected to see some coming around a corner, it took awhile to get over that feeling.

Can anyone tell me the name of the music that plays in background. Thank you…
Of course, sir, you will find it in the video description. Enter the link in the video description
@@Ww2worldwar2 Thank you so much.
hi, excellent photos, I would like to point out an error regarding Stavelot's photo, the current location of the German corpse is not in the correct place.
How do you explain it to me? Write me the official website please
Unforgettable war All life time.

All the wartime photos were taken with twin lens reflex cameras held at waist level but all the recent phots with eye level cameras. Hence the different views.
👌🤎
I prefer the then and now photos on other sites which have real photos and not captures from Google maps.
❤❤
Remember.
❤
In the song “ Comanche the Brave Horse” that survived the Little Big Horn Battle sung by Johnny Horton
says that Comanche was General Custer’s horse but in realty it was Captain Keogh’s horse.

Himmler saluted with the wrong hand did he not? Or was the photo back to front to get round copyright restrictions
Never play with the pictures
Photographs from the early 1940s were not blurry. Black and white photography had been pretty much perfected… photographs were razor sharp. And, of course, photographs taken in the last decade are very very high resolution. So then why is this presentation so blurry? It’s definitely not UA-cam at fault, it’s this channel. I love the now and then concept, but I wish you guys would do a better job. (That, and the music is way way, way too heavy-handed. My head was spinning by the end.)
👍
Now............like it never happened.................
Why are the images mirrored?
Sometimes we want the viewer to see another look at the image other than the one he saw before, but with all its details.
@@Ww2worldwar2 that doesn't make sense. Show them the way they are supposed to be and the way that any person would be able to recreate the image themselves. I put it to you that you are attempting to avoid a copyright issue rather than something altruistic, artistic or educational.
Hi, beyond the destruction that this could have caused, the will of souls of good will demonstrates how much rebuilding all of this to forget about forging the hope of the people
Why these cause me to tear? wasn't even born..

I think they were prity useless.

Side by side would be better.

8:00. That is wrong. The image of the tanks is reversed - eg Shermans had the hull machine gun on the other side - and doesn’t match the ‘today’ image.
Sometimes we want the viewer to see another look at the image other than the one he saw before, but with all its details.
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice be nice
I wonder if the average younger European has any idea about the suffering their great grandparents or older endured?😢

Not very well done, but thanks for trying.

It is a shame that the lessons of the past not been learned at all and the fascism, racism , bigotry , Xenophobia and homophobia are returning back despite of many lives lost for freedom and peace and respect the others independent race and religion and sex . .
In particular, we are talking about the revival of nationalism in Ukraine represented by the followers of the Nazi SS division “Galicia”.
