I am learning German, your video is extremely useful for me because you are speaking so clearly and without using fancy words. Also, some of the stuff that we learn theoretically, does not make sense to me but after watching your video, I am learning how to build sentence structures. Please make more videos like this or if you have any other source where people speak as well as you but in simple German and with subtitles, that would be wonderful. Thank you for the wonderful video.

I've been studying German since high school. I am 25 and I still study some German almost everyday. Without anyone else to speak to in German I have failed to reach the level that you have. That you could learn any language in 6 months is remarkable.
You need to find a different method. It also helps a great deal to listen to German music, watch German shows, and listen to German videos especially in subjects you are interested in. If you can it also helps to find a German friend. I haven’t quite reached the point I can construct many sentences in German but I have been studying for less than a month and I already know probably about a few hundred words and am learning many new words everyday, still have to work on my word endings and when to use Die, Der, Das. You may have already found a method right for you since this comment comes a year later.
@@frogGames true, it’s also about how you spend your time. I took a few months of German a few years ago, and I’ve kept it up by habitually translating random things to German (signs, my thoughts, things in text friends, etc). The end result is that I’ve gotten quite decent at writing and speaking, and reading, but immediately get lost when a native speaks to me at normal speed. Go figure

I watched this video a couple years ago and was only reading the subtitles. Now I can understand what you’re saying or read the subtitles and think in my head what I would say in German and it’s mostly the same as what you say. It’s hard to feel proud of my own progress because it has been so slow over years but it’s finally at a tipping point where I feel that I can do something with this language now. I went to school up to B1.1 and hope to continue again when I have time. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for a fantastic video, which was very helpful and inspirational. I am 56 years old and learning German for the past 8 months. I will take my B1 exam next month. Your German grammar, vocab and pronunciation are all excellent. Not to mention that you have helped me to prepare for my own exam by helping me know how to talk about myself and share my own German story. You have inspired and motivated me to keep going. I too plan to sign up for B2. It is a great feeling to know one is capable of learning a second language at any age and stage of life.

Why would you say that. I've been learning german for about 2.5 months now. I'm still a work in progress but I'd really love if i can reach the level of at least to the point to speak like this man.
i started learning german last month because we had a foreign exchange student that had come from germany. i’ve been using duolingo and practicing as much as i can, and you’ve really inspired me! the only issue i have is that i have a southern accent, and so it makes pronouncing words difficult for me. today i managed to have a conversation with the guy talking about my cats, and he pointed out i accidentally referred to my tomcats as ‘feminine male cats’ lmfao. to be honest, i think german is a little easier than spanish, which really motivates me to continue practicing.

It's nice that just listening to this video and reading the subtitles, I am able to understand some words and sentences from what little German I have taught myself on and off over the years.
You probably know more than you think. You can work through text and audio to gain more understanding. UA-cam is a great source of content to immerse in. Once the understanding is there you just need to practice speaking with somebody (or practice thinking out loud).

why would you want to move from canada to germany? Germany is literally the ugliest country in all of europe. Your husband should better move to canada.
You succeeded in motivating me- I've been hitting a bit of a wall in my perceived progress in German, but when I watched this video I found that I could understand most of what you were saying without reading the subtitles. That was really encouraging for me. So thanks!
Glad to hear Joey! Keep at it 👍
Same here mate.. been in Germany for almost 8months, started learning it 2 months ago, but unfortunately i m struggling . Let s see what the future brings us in this language :))
@@football4you374 I’ve been learning German for 3 months now mate. Hopefully you are doing well and don’t give up we will all succeed one day in mastering this language. I can assure you that. I’m rooting for you bro.
Respekt an deine Deutschkenntnisse in so einer kurzen Zeit
danke!😀

damn your german is sick dude, you dont even have a hard accent. Respect for you man, me as a native german speaker can confirm how difficult our language is!
As a native speaker you can not confirm how hard a language is. It's natural to you.
Very great, my friend
u should watch Nicos Weg
my native language is Arabic
and I learned English already so decided to start learning a new language and I chose German randomly and here I am completed level A1
Good. You speak MSA?

Wowww how I wish I can speak Arabic

Thank you for motivation and keep going! Greetings from Poland

My dear brother, this video was very encouraging and uplifting. A big thanks!!
I've been studying German since high school. I am 25 and I still study some German almost everyday. Without anyone else to speak to in German I have failed to reach the level that you have. That you could learn any language in 6 months is remarkable.
It's the method
It's all about the motivation. If your life depends on it, you can learn in a quick time.
Go figure
@@CaptainMalick998 I am also learning. Maybe we can practice with each other!
Also a mechanical engineer who loves Deutsch, great content, hope I get to your lever anytime soon. Prost!

Ganz großes Lob an dich!
This inspires me a lot. I am learning Deutsch right now! Vielen Dank!
Are you from Philippines?
Amazing! You reached the same level of German language knowledge in 6 months, that I reached in 6 years living in Germany. Viel Respekt, mann! Weiter so!
Super!
es ja falsch geschrieben (was du gesagt hast*)
Thank you for this! I'm currently learning german (recently passed A1) and it can get frustrating at times. It's so relieving to hear this kind of thing, listening to stories like this is one of the things that keeps me going despite the hardships. Again, thank you!
Yes I couldn't agree more. I loved watching these types of videos when I was learning (and still am). Keep at it!
Please keep up this format I'm learning so much
As a German, I can say that you speak better than many people living here for 10,20 years. I’m actually impressed by you having completely no accent. You just sound like a native speaking a bit slower

Hello Jay!😄
Woow it was really motivating your story is amazing!I am a 19 years old girl from Hungary and I've been learning German for 4 years.Hopefully after I finish my high school studies this year I will be able to improve my German skills as well besides English. Moreover,I am really amazed and happy because I understood almost everything from your video (my level is also B1).
Ich wünsche dir alles Gute und Danke!☺
From someone who is not an english native speakers. We HAD to learn english if we want to survive in this vast internet world, because majority of the internet content is written in english, so we have no choice but to learn english.
And it's so cool for you as an english speakers, to learn another language just for the sake of it. Me too just start to learning german a few days back, and this video kinda gave me the basic stances of where to start and what to learn with. So thanks.
(Edit: I hope I'd be as fluent as u in German.)
You think everything is in english because you look for videos in english. Look for videos in another language and you will forget english even exists
@@alexalex-uq4cm This. I've started to search for movies, youtube videos, and even use German / French when searching for something on the internet nowadays.
Yes, it's annoying at first since I had to translate it to english sometimes. But in this way, I expand my vocabulary. So yes, this is good advice. Thank you 👍
Sehr beeindruckend. Keep going. Youre living proof that life is NOT too short to learn german ; ). learning mandarin myself atm.
Hi, I’m from Vietnam and I would love to learn German. I have just begun to learn for several months. I hope you can release more videos that I can be inspired from you. Thanks
I watched more than 4 times !! :') thank u for the best inspiration
How can one learn a language so quickly? I thought I learned German quickly, when I moved to Vienna, but this is crazy. This video is very inspiring. You still have a small accent, but its nothing tbh. Keep going man.
Ich kann mich meiner Deutsch Lernende Zeit errinieren :) I appreciate your motivation and courage in learning, recording whole video in German. Kudos..
Stu(dying) Deutsch right now. I‘m still on my 2nd week of A1 Classes and I‘m thinking of giving up. But seeing this video inspired me. You got a new subscriber. Thanks a lot, Jay!
Admirable!!! Keep going:D
Kind of late, but the pride I felt because I could understand the most of the video and learned some new commonly used words is simply amazing. The video is really motivating and a good help with learning because you speak slowly and with a relatively simple language. Great job!
It's really impressive that you fully learned German in such a short amount of time, especially since your accent is really weak, for a few sentences I couldn't hear one at all but it pops back in every once in a while
I'm learning Korean at the moment and having an accent like yours is pretty much my ultimate dream!
Das ist so motivierent und inspirierend!!
Class progress so quickly, I’m trying to learn German to be able to go on Erasmus, never got a chance to do German in school, also from NI, nice to see someone from here succeeding with it as I don’t see many people here learn German over French or Spanish or Irish or whatever, great to see!
Do Erasmus its an awesome experience. I did mine in France. A story for another time. Yeah it's a shame no one learns languages here. It's such a class skill and opens up the world to you. Good luck with German!
Videos like these motivate me to continue studying german and not to give up. If you inspect it closer, German is a very logical language and it's like Lego, bit by bit and you create a castle, something to build on, plus it's similar to English the more I study it. German is a pretty language and it deserves much more love and recognition, and it's never too late to learn a new language. Have a nice day Jay!
As a german native speaker, you speak it very well! Good job
Thank you so much for this video! It was interesting to listen to your story

Actually you're wrong, in my opinion German just sounds beautiful and incredibly cool, I want to start learning it.
Greetings from Iraq.
i started learning german last month because we had a foreign exchange student that had come from germany. i’ve been using duolingo and practicing as much as i can, and you’ve really inspired me! the only issue i have is that i have a southern accent, and so it makes pronouncing words difficult for me. today i managed to have a conversation with the guy talking about my cats, and he pointed out i accidentally referred to my tomcats as ‘feminine male cats’ lmfao. to be honest, i think german is a little easier than spanish, which really motivates me to continue practicing.
I’m in the same boat!
Hey mate! I'm Fred from Milan, and I really wanna thank you for share this video with us! I already speak 3 languages but I have to say that German was always kinda a big goal for me, maybe because I know more direct latin languages so German always looked so far or completely a crazy idea to jump in. German is a language I've had an interest in for a while now, but other than Duolingo, I have no real idea how to learn it.

It's all about the method, not so much about how long you've been studying
It’s all about method, focus, will and organization. I took 2 years to be able to maintain conversation, but I only had two classes per week.
