I love how you emphasize the importance of mastering nouns and practicing pronunciation. It's a refreshing reminder that learning a language is about enjoying the process, not just memorizing charts.
On the importance of learning gender/plural with nouns - if you start out doing it properly, you'll get better at guessing/intuiting it later on down the line! Same goes for cases and prepositions. There are no hard and fast "rules", but there sure are "vibes"
The declension charts definitely have a role to play; I used to use them as a quick reference when I couldn’t remember something, but I was never sitting there trying to memorize it
I'm at a B2 level in German. I studied using the "Learn with German Stories" app from the Playstore, and it was very effective for me. I learned German through stories.

Danke für dieses Video! Jemand hat hier schon vorgeschlagen, dass du Vlogs auf deutsch machen könntest. I did Lingoda last year for German, it was AMAZING! After learning German on my own for years, speaking to others was so rewarding, even if it wasn't perfect. That's what they're there for!
I've never been overly interested but after years of working with and hanging out with Germans and speaking some languages with enough cross over, I feel bad when someone speaks to me in German, I understand... but can't formulate a response and thus we fall into English. I've had enough xd This video was enough to tip the scales! Thanks for the tips and good studies to you

I really liked the Lingoda grammar lessons. They usually have a theme, so its not /just/ grammar, you get direkt corrections, and you don't have to do it alone. Don't get me wrong, I still cried during my lessons, but my teachers were very supportive :). I'm also dedicating myself to German paperwork right now lol
I have been studying German for three months, before the only language that I have studied it’s English, that everyone studies at school but in reality especially if you don’t have good teachers or if your country’s educational system isn’t well suited for learning new languages, you have learn it on your own. That’s was my case, I’m a 20 year old Italian, who is studying German because I would like to live in a German speaking country or at lest just knowing the language. A thing that I haven’t heard yet in an any video about learning languages is the impact of having studied Latin. I have studied it during the whole high school, overall you know what a case is and other grammar stuffs , but at end of the day you are more keen on reading and some form of writing, but it feels so weird to speak, luckily I’m trying to overcome this issue just talking to myself and learning concepts of grammar that I really need at some time, overall one of the aspect that makes me feel down is that German, compared to English requires more words to be able to speak at the daily level. So if someone reached this point of the comment, Herzlich Danke, do you know some UA-cam channel, or podcast or whatever that really posts something of (real )real life. Overall thanks for the video, it’s inspiring to see someone’s efforts getting reworded, thanks also for the material you suggested us. Sorry if made some mistake in the comment. I would really appreciate if you can point them
Gracias por el video!! Vengo aprendiendo alemán hace mas de un año y aún no me siento cómoda hablando. Felicidades por la mudanza!! Estaría genial si querés mostrar más de cómo será tu vida ahí! Yo tengo pensado mudarme allá el próximo año. Recomendas alguna parte de Alemania en específico?
A good tip for learning German: don’t put so much value on the level system. What really matters is if you are affectively communicating with people and being understood 😊
@@lazargajicic9115 stimmt aber heutzutage man kann einfach deutsch bei dem Vorstellungsgespräch sprechen und dann, wenn es reicht gibt’s kein Bedürfnis dafür
I think about pronunciation this way: if you don't speak, your "speaking muscles" would not adapt to the language that you're learning. I have fallen into this trap because I just love doing my duolingo french lessons while commuting. But with German, I started speaking it from the first day of learning because I was forced to suddenly move to Germany and I wanted to communicate with people around me. Also, in my experience, most of people in Munich speak just regular Hochdeutsch or something very similar, so don't panic :)
holy shit dein Deutsch ist krass gut, die ersten paar Sekunden dachte ich du bist eigentlich Muttersprachlerin, so gut ist deine Aussprache (-greetings from someone born and raised in Germany who can't even pronounce shit as good as you can😂) for English speakers: her german is basically perfect, wouldn't have known she isn't a native if I only heard her talk a few sentences so as a German, I assume her tips are gold :)
I am reflecting on the possibility of transitioning my focus towards finance. I have a love for physics, but I struggle with problem-solving skills. My current thought is to engage with physics in a more leisurely fashion while fully committing myself to finance for a stable career. I am presently in class 12, studying under the MPC curriculum. With my exams nearing, I am preparing for them earnestly. Once they conclude, I intend to relocate to Germany for my further studies., please anyone give your thought and advice on this descion of mine ?
Sounds like a smart plan. Balancing your interest in physics with a shift to finance for career stability makes a lot of sense. Germany is a great choice for finance studies, and your MPC background will be a strong foundation.
A reason that kept me from starting German in the past is that it's filled with irregularities. However, so is life. In life we're presented with unpredictable situations, and things mostly don't have a textbook solution, so we must learn to tolerate ambiguity. Since we act like this in life, why not with a target language, since it's a part of life? This changed my POV and then I started learning German.
5:20 A funny thing about talking/thinking to yourself in German is that you can end up creating your own special dialect of German which sounds correct to you based on your poor understanding of the language, but which sounds like complete rubbish to a native lol.
Hey - do you have any tips on what notes we should be taking and what self-taught curriculum someone should be following when learning a new language? I'm thankfully getting a spanish tutor this week to give me some direction.I've been trying to teach myself but find it impossible. its been over a year and i can hardly say anything.
Also im ersten Moment hätte ich wirklich nicht herausgehört, dass du keine Deutsche bist. Erst nach zwei oder drei weiteren Sätzen kam der Akzent durch. Wirklich stark! (Was man nach neun Jahren eigentlich schon fast erwarten würde 😀 wobei... Heute gibt es zu viele Fälle, die wohl das Gegenteil beweisen würden 😆

If you go to Switzerland you are .... ! You literally have to learn 2 languages! 1. high/standard german and 2. swiss german/schwyzerdüttsch . It's not really a different language but the sound is so far away... that you basically have to learn everything twice! LOL And as a bonus... swiss german sounds horrible and gross!
Wrong. Swiss German speakers will speak Standard German with you. (At least 99.9% of the time). You do not need to speak Swiss German, but understanding it will help to understand what is going on around you. I lived there and never had an issue using Standard German. Swiss people who speak one of the other languages (French, Italian, Romansh) as their first language learn Standard German in school. Some do understand one or more of the Swiss German dialects (there are several)., however. As to how Swiss German sounds, that’s personal taste. I actually like it.
Ich glaube , die Grammatik ist zu schwer :/ (indeed you need to get input , but from my experience, it is not enough , you need to know at least basic grammar )
i think you could be fine but it will just go slower. it might take you a week of input to finally figure out a grammar point that could’ve just taken 2 minutes of reading a grammar book to understand

How long does it take for an infant to speak fluent German?
It depends on how much effort and time you will put into your learning process. As much time you devote to it as faster you get fluency...
