  • Harvesting of Cinnamon is a labor intensive process. The plant is ready for harvesting after 3 years of growth. Once the branch is cut its our bark is stripped using knife. Then the inner part is carefully removed.

    Do I have to cut down the tree as whole.

      It would seem that they are doing less intensive (i.e. fewer chemical and mechanical inputs) farming and harvesting than in 'modern' Western that includes clear cutting and monoculture (that is, a single type of tree) as regular practice.
      That said, they have probably learned over generations how to selectively trim those trees to harvest cinnamon.

      The harvesters cut only the shoots (at angles) which allows the continuation of the tree's growth. Nice conservation!

      hello there,if you cut down branches will the tree grow new ones or will just develop a scar?
      also how long a cinnamon tree lives?
