    2) Glock 19
    3) Remington 870 Police Magnum

These aren't necessarily my favorite models, but they are extremely reliable, easy to work on and maintain and extremely popular and in my area I could easily find everything from parts, mags and ammo for each one.

    • @Kross8761
      @Kross8761 Рік тому +1

@@PCRedman that depends, you can nix the shotgun if you don't bird hunt (I don't) which frees up one slot, and many people don't hunt small game so you could theoretically nix the .22
But a suppressed bolt action .22 is ridiculous amounts of fun.
My list is basically what you said, because I did keep the .22, but I don't own a shotgun (and honestly don't really care to because I don't bird hunt) but in its place I chose my .30-06 that my grandfather gave me on my 18th birthday, it's technically the first gun that was ever "mine"
But for longer range stuff it's not ideal so I have 2 full power rifles and the other is a tack driver for long range stuff.

I feel like this is most peoples' general top 5 lists online and it is a really good reference point for most people starting out. Followed usually by getting which ever caliber weapon system you didn't have before in each category. If there was a universal 6th choice, it should probably be some kind of big bore magnum revolver for animal defense/hunting in my opinion (.357 for the high versatility and ease of use or .44 magnum and up for very large dangerous game, if applicable for your lifestyle).

If everything stopped hypothetically, 300 BO would not be a bad choice if you have the ability to reload. If primers become difficult to obtain, you can scavenge from obsolete to predominately existing rounds. Pretty much the same for projectiles and brass. It can use 556/223 brass trimmed and sized to accept 30 cal bullets. It may seem a bit time consuming or extreme but think of what may be available and predominantly in use. You can find expended brass and 30 cal bullets come in many different rounds to include AK rounds, although you may want to resize that one. Just my thoughts.

I think the AR and the Glock 19 are probably fair choices. My thoughts on the Glock 34 was best muzzle velocity and long sight radius plus same part pool as the Glock 19. The 686 plus is a reliable 7-round .357 magnum revolver from a reputable company requiring little to no maintenance while being a great big game stopper for hunting or backwood hiking. Henry Golden Boy is an accurate, reliable gun that uses cheap ammo for training while being a great gun to teach marksmanship to for younger or inexperienced shooters.

Very interesting exercise and very thought stimulating! I think both of your choices are very well reasoned. Here are mine for what they are worth!
    1. My first AR15 I built which is a 16 inch DI. Partly due to the fact that I know every detail and also because I can readily change parts if needed. It's also suppressor ready.
    2. My Arsenal AK47 SLR107 for the reasons stated for having an AK47
    3. My P365XL because of concealed carrying capability and interchangeability of parts
    4. My Benelli M4 Shotgun even though I know you gentlemen aren't big shotgun proponents, but it's battle tested and ammo availability is generous
    5. My surprise over the top pick....My HK Mark23 because it is as performance tested as the P30, if not more so, extremely accurate and is a crew served tank with ammo availability extraordinaire as it shoots God's round! LOL
I would have some honorable mentions including one of my Bolt rifles, PDWs and revolvers, but that wouldn't be in the spirit of the exercise. I'll have them available as backups!!!

As an aside, I love the High West Whiskey bottle during the Korth presentation. Took a tour of the distillery last time I was in Park City. Super cool. But getting to the main topic, I don't know how you list five guns with no shotguns selected. One shotgun with interchangeable barrels and chokes that can use slugs, buck shot, bird shot, and non-lethal (especially for pumps) is by far the best "one gun" to keep. I'd keep my Turkish 870 clone with interchangeable barrels hands down. Then my PSA AR-15 (really wish I had a nicer one for this scenario, but hey, that's what I got currently). Then my Bergara BXR (which is simply a fancy 10/22 and uses 10/22 parts and mags), especially if I get to keep my suppressor for it, which the scenario doesn't say suppressors will be confiscated, so I'm assuming I keep it. The last two spots are what are difficult, because I have a Ruger LCP II that I'd like to keep for concealed carry, but the parts (springs, mag followers, etc) wore out after 1000 rounds, whereas the Walther PPS M2 has 3000 rounds through it with almost indiscernible wear (even on the finish after 5 years of heavy use). I also have a Berreta 92G by Langdon Tactical, which is my nightstand and duty gun. Easy to source parts given its military use. And I also like my Savage .270 Win bolt action for longer shots and hunting larger game. Because AR uppers aren't individual guns, I can get a 6.5 Grendel or something later on, so I'd sacrifice the Savage .270 Win to have the Langdon Tactical Beretta 92G RDO and the Walther PPS M2 for spots 4 and 5.

I'm no gunsmith, but I'd imagine that op rod would be hard to source. Forget about mounting things to that awesome monolithic rail- that's also proprietary. Good thing I bought a few pic rail sections before they went down like the Titanic a few years back.

These are always interesting thought exercises because there are so many variables at play. Are you able to trade in for other options on the market to make up the final 5 keep forever items? Does the aftermarket support continue or go away completely? Should you balance shtf and fun (e.g. competition/specialty options) to use options in the list so you continue to practice shooting overall? Is ammo still available for purchase or gone as well? Is flexibility in caliber better than cross compatibility within the collection? Should you have a hunting focused option?

So my favorites Are my AR with 2 uppers, Glock 19 and my da/sa Px4 and top is my Sig 229. Good show. I’m in Ca. So can’t use the toys you have.

These aren't necessarily my favorite models, but they are extremely reliable, easy to work on and maintain and extremely popular and in my area I could easily find everything from parts, mags and ammo for each one.

    1. 18inch 5.56 AR with a 2.5x10 (Longer range with heavy grain rounds but uses all non proprietary parts and can shoot common ammo)
    2. 10.5 5.56 AR with Suppressor and dot (Can will work with #1 pick and the shorty will be better for nighttime stuff and concealment/vehicle work)
    3. Pump Shotgun...Probably a Mossberg 590 (12 ga can be found everywhere and there are soo many types of ammo for different uses from hunting to self defense)
    4. .22 AR with Suppressor (Movie quiet and you can stock pile a lot of ammo. It's also super low recoil so parts last longer)
    5. I'm partial to M&P series pistols but probably would have to go with a Glock 19 or mid sized revolver in .357/.38 special (parts availability and/or longevity)

My list was very easy to me. Some of them were guns that have been in the family and hold sentimental value. But also those guns are the most situationally practical.
    1. Remington 870 magnum. It has 2 barrels, a rifled slug and regular barrel. 12 gauge is one of the cheapest, readily available, and many different ammo types.
    2. Daniel Defense M4 5.56. Got to have an AR and this is the highest reputation in my collection.
    3. Henry All weather 45/70 with vortex 3x9x40. Big gun and big caliber for multi purpose. Very simple gun, parts wise.
    4. Colt Anaconda 44 mag. Cool factor, big round, revolver with not a lot of moving parts.
    5. Smith and Wesson M&P 40 cal 4.25” police issue. Small enough to carry, big enough to defend.

I too chose a P30sk and a full size HK pistol. Between the P30 and P30L I can't decide which to get next because they are both great but probably P30 is too similar to the sk to be worth the difference of 1/2 inch barrel length or whatever it is. Probably step up to the L.

@@sissydreams7494 I actually just got a HK45 tactical on Friday! Shot a quick 100 rounds through it right after I got it lol. My first 45, it's a phenomenal gun so far. Love how it shoots. Suppressor height sights took a little getting used to, my point of aim is a bit different than regular height sights but other than that, I can see this being like a totally bomb proof "go to war" apocalypse gun or whatever the heck scenario is in my head at the time 😂. It's a bit on the heavy side especially with 230 grain ammo compared to 9mm, but there's just something really authoritative and reassuring launching a projectile twice the weight at a target. Really rocks those steel targets. Still want a P30L I think lol, would be nice to get that high capacity 9, but I so have 20 round mags for my sk and it works fine.

I would cover my guns types by priority, hence:
    1) would always be concealed carry pistol - the basic self defense means you can have always with you for short range. That is what counts for most.
For my small body and hands Walther CCP is what I chose as my first guns. May not be the best of best, but what by ergonomics and size works for me.
    2) i am looking to extend the effectiveness at home defense and for ranges up to 100m. It has to be easily carried in and taken out of bag. It has to be easier to quickly shoot accurately at those ranges, if it can deliver up to 200m that is bonus. Therefore PDW. I am thinking 9mm for commonality and I can use it to train carbine stuff on any range, easy to suppress. Things that I am considering are from B&T USW on the smallest to GHM9 / Stribog A3 and similar on the bigger end for the better performance at longer ranges.
    3) then I would consider AR, to further extend the range for utmost apocalyptic scenarios
