    Michelle, you mentioned how so many brands use the same electronics as the TXQ brand. That is because TXQ is just one of many companies that resell sabers and parts made by the LGT manufacturing company in China using their interchangeable VHC (variable hilt component) parts. It’s not just the electronics that are interchangeable - it’s the metal parts that make up the hilt too. Other resellers of VHC-based sabers in the US include Blu Bul’s Outer Rim Saber Parts, Vire Sabers, and Crimson Dawn, among others.
    The great thing about VHC parts is that they are modular and interchangeable, so you can use them to customize the length of the hilt and the balance of the saber, along with the look. You said you like to hold the saber above the switch, not at the bottom of the hilt, and the VHC parts allow you to add more grip length above the switch if you prefer it that way, which I do.
    For example, on your TXQ saber you showed that has the royal scepter-looking emitter part where the blade is attached, you could unscrew that emitter from the switch piece and add an extension piece or even a full grip piece above the switch, and then put the emitter piece back on above the new piece (or replace the emitter with a different style). By doing that, you can turn a 10” hilt into 12” or 15” (whatever you want), and you can create a grip in the right spot for better balance. The VHC system gives you a lot of options for customizing the saber to your needs.
    Thanks for posting all the great videos!

    Electrum Sabers, local Canadian company (Calgary) and they make them here in Canada too by hand for each order (I will explain why in a bit). They are a bit more showy, more for cosplay, but their tech is unique, they have their own cores and an app on your phone you can control it with. They are reworking their stuff to make a coupler to make saberstaffs, and... (Here's something you will love) you can use some of the Bendu Armory blades (which you can get in varying lengths) to make it more durable for tricks as well as better lengths. They are a little pricier, but they are sturdy as heck, and have customization options like you wouldn't believe, down to how your control panel looks, accent colors and weathering. The Neophyte hilt would probably be your go to, based on lack of bits on it as well as length. I just ordered a Remnant myself and will get a second later to turn into a saberstaff.

    Those are definitely good, especially the saberstaff. I went with rebel sabers and while they have that same complicated button feature you can actually just stab fast in any direction and it turns on and you do the same to turn it off. It's so much better than holding the button down for two flashes to turn it off. Builds immersion. My kids have some as well and they love using them outside with me in saber battles

    I’ve had good experiences with SaberForge, but I’m also aware I’m lucky in that regard, apparently. And I’d also say they are definitely not spinners because of all the greebling on their handles. That makes them look beautiful, but catches on everything! Great combat sabers, though!

      Yeah, Saberforge is definitely at the top of the totem pole for customizable sabers at a very high quality. Saberforge is more for show/combar/collection and less about spinning and similar tricks

    I bought the TXQ Luke Skywalker lightsaber for sentimental reasons, even though I'd never spin with it for fear of dropping it and scuffing it up. TXQ does make some of the most affordable sabers out there for spinning and dueling, like you said.

    • @HeyItsKora
      @HeyItsKora 2 роки тому +1

      How is the build quality? And which model did you get? I know she said she got her TXQ sabers from aliexpress but they seem to have a whole presence on Amazon, only thing is I cannot find the model Michelle is showing off in the video which is making me suspect it may not be a TXQ as she said she initially wasn't sure of the brand. I'm looking at the TXQ Force FX Saber on amazon, it's currently 36GBP down from 50 (so like 60-65 USD approx) but I absolutely would spin with it. Been at the ol' staff/sword spinning for nearly 10 years now, but only ever with wooden staves or sparring/training swords, but after so long I feel like it's time to play around with some LED gear and get some pretty footage haha but yeah so I'm not that likely to drop it as I hardly drop anymore as long as I'm not getting too crazy, and I'd be double careful with something more fragile like a lightsaber, but I'm still really curious/weary about the build quality of some of these fairly cheap sabers on amazon...
      Would super appreciate your opinion! And I'd love to know which model you picked up too! (I know you said Luke Skywalker, but I'm not a starwars person, and I assume that that just means it's the same colour as Luke's one rather than an actual replica of the one in the movie?)
      Thank you! :)

    • @WonderfulHayden
      @WonderfulHayden 2 роки тому +1

      @@HeyItsKora I think this review may help you get a sense of the TXQ Luke Skywalker saber: ua-cam.com/video/gxDF-EGpATo/v-deo.html.
      If your intent is solely to spin with a light amount of dueling, I would suggest sticking to the lightweight options Michelle has suggested. You'll have much greater flexibility with your moves. If you want a realistic replica and actually want to spin with a heftier hilt, I would suggest saving up and going the Neopixel route--these are relatively expensive sabers, but feel like actual weapons and the blades are much sturdier for duelling. The TXQ Luke falls into this grey zone where it is good for those who want a somewhat accurate Luke replica saber, but can't afford the Neopixel sabers yet. The saber isn't ideal for heavy spinning or duelling because it's secured to the hilt with very small screws and a short inset length.

It's cheap and great for beginners or casual saber spinners. Buying experience was good from aliexpress. Customer service was helpful. However, after months of spinning, the saber didn't charge properly and had to replace the battery. It's maybe bad luck that I got a faulty battery. • @MormegilSC
      @MormegilSC 2 роки тому +1

      @@michelle-c-smith Actually they are not from TXQ :D
      The battery says SaberStudio, which is short for LGT SaberStudio. Also the soundboard should have "LGT Saberstudio & Darkwolf" written on it somewhere and those printed instruction cards are typical of them. However, the error is understandable, as TXQ and LGT are both chinese saber manufacturers and use the same button & recharge port setup. They once split off of the same mother company (LGTOY). Since then both have improved and adapted their tech and are now seperate and different.
      The good thing is though: LGT uses a system of hilt parts, so you can usually disassemble the pieces of the hilt and swap them out between sabers.
      Also, the electronic cores can be removed easily and swapped out.
      And do check the contacts of the battery. The most common issue with these cheaper chinese sabers is that the battery doesn't make contact properly so it doesn't load correctly and then does not turn on... Just in case you want to try to revive the 3rd saber :D

    • @MormegilSC
      @MormegilSC 2 роки тому

      @NightRunner It depends on the budget. For lower budgets (up to 200$-300$), LGTs baselit soundboard (RGBX) and budget neopixel soundboard (Xenopixel) are better because their smoothswing is definitely superior. Additionally, Xenopixel can change soundfonts and stuff via SD-card, whil TXQs SN-Pixel has a set of 12 soundfonts (which are not too great).
      For high budgets and replicas TXQ is better, as their replicas are more accurate (made by 89 sabers), use the same high end soundboards (Proffie or GHv3) and installed have good install quality.

    Hiya, i just bought a TXQ sabre for my wife. Its the Luke VI hilt with Neopixel blade and 2.2 Proffie board . It worked out at $450 NZ approximately $225 US, They were having a sale with 30% off so it was a pretty great deal. It is without doubt an amazing lightsabre for a lot less than you would expect to pay especially considering the 2.2 proffie board that allows you to write your own code to fine-tune your own personal sound options from start up , clash on clash, tip drag and on and on and on. Comes with a 32G sd card to save everything on to. They have as an option the Luke ROTJ, that has the true look of Luke's saber from episode 6. However the Luke VI version that i went for has a significant lack of clutter on the hilt which makes it easier for beginners learning to spin. These Sabres are available in RGB, Zenopixel and the 2 2 Proffie boards for all your different needs whether you want to duel, spin or just for collection. The support team at TXQ are so very helpful they put to shame some of the store staff I have encountered in bricks and morter stores . All in all they provide amazing products at incredibly cheap prices. Thank you for your amazing review in this vid and your lessons in staff work.Cheers Lee from NZ.

    On the ones you have to do the "morse code" on, that is mainly for the setup, or to change settings. in use, you can have it set to where you dont even have to use the button to ignite/retract the saber, but you do need a higher end control board for that, like the Golden Harvest or Proffie boards. You can have them ignite/retract by gesture control, i.e. on swing, on twist, on thrust. but that might not be good for spinning, as you might inadvertently turn it off/on. and you can set the volume on them, so there is no sound, if you like.
    Also, and i know this isn't for your use case, the different blade types make a huge difference in how the saber will look. the basic, base-lit sabers are basically flashlights with a clear plastic tube on them, so can only do the very basic lighting effects. The Pixel style blades (each company calls them something different: Neopixel, Xenopixel, SN-Pixel, etc) have LED strips the length of the blade, which is how they can do the more "fancy" blade effects like a wave style, flame blade, etc. Which, for show, can produce great results, like a slow blade extend on ignition for dramatic effect, instead of the instant on. If youre spinning and just want a blade that is "on", it is overkill for sure. I will say that a flame effect blade style would add to spinning, as the lit blade length is dynamic, depending on the orientation of the saber, it follows fire physics.
    Also, most sabers are bottom heavy because that is where the battery and the speaker are, with most of the rest being aluminum.
    Personally, I have the Enforcer from Crimson Dawn, with the Golden Harvest v3 board inside and Pixel blade, and I love it.

    Personally padawan outpost is a brilliant first choice if you're looking to get into lightsaber spinning/duelling. They are cheap but well made and I highly recommend them

    This is absolutely amazing to me. I'm watching someone who should be performing in my favorite movies. Yes Michelle, there is a world where technology can meet the most discerning needs. Proffieboard and cfx have changed the game.

    Bought a TXQ saber from Amazon, 75 bucks. Definitely a solid first step into sabers (not counting my galaxys edge anakin saber) you can tell if it's txq by the batter inside. It'll have that labeled on the battery.

    Amazing! Thank you! I’ve been searching and researching and banging my head against a wall trying to figure out which brand of lightsaber to buy and I’ve come close a few times but then I read a couple bad reviews and I just don’t want to spend the money on something I’m not sure is even going to work. Thank you so much for this review!! Definitely going to check out EW sabers.

    Hello Badass family, my personal choice is the Polaris from LamaDiLuce.
    It's the official combat saber of LudoSport, the worldwide lightsaber sport community.
    It's a nice piece of engineering. You can adjust the weight AND the LENGTH of the hilt! They have different sizes of blades and you can mount two hilts together to make a staff.
    Michelle, I would love to hear your review of they sabers.
    Spoiler: the silent mode it's just one "tap" (they have no push buttons :)

    Also a fan of simple things, I think I’m sure I will check later on the Elegant Weapons lightsabers…
    Perhaps I watch a little to late this vid cause I just got my first Lightsaber 2 days ago. Still trying to remember all the commands but gotta say I love my saber even so.

    Great thank you on pointing out the utter impracticality of putting sharp edged bulky features and structures on a hilt of sword..(Fanbased vanity and ignorance combined) ..If you look at the hilt of a Kitana, it has a crossed woven fabric that is durable and elegant that is made for actual fighting. I just wish some of the manufactures would create a fabric woven hilt that is practical for dueling....

    Lamadiluce do sabers made for ludosport combat. Completely modular in size and shape. Aswell as being able to add extra weight to balance out the hilt. Software is still in early development though.

    I too one day hope to get sabers sent to me for reviews, this is really cool to watch. Unfortunately I am more on the sparring side of things so twirling sabers aren't super useful for me, but it's honestly a bit of a moot point: I've yet to scrape up enough for a couple of decent sparring sabers since I just recently lost my job. Hopefully soon
