So usually if you’re trying to portray schizophrenia you would have more easily distinguishable scenes to convey a character is delusional, outside of mysteries and thrillers. Great show! I think while the Boys does humanize the heroes to some extent, it was Gen V that really helped me understand heroes. I think that it was important to see the heroes as victims which shows the complexity of the universe created!
I liked the series, but it did feel like I missed and episode before the last one. Cus i feel like the motivations for characters sorta went wild very abruptly.
@LeahB31 Completely agree, the series was fantastic up to the very last episode. It kinda felt like they needed to up the stakes as soon as possible to gather hype for The Boys s4, but in doing so made the villains turn so quickly with barely any rhyme or reason. If some college kids are going to genocide the entire human race, many of which are completely innocent toward their treatment of supes, at least give us 2 more episodes to really see them decend into their new twisted ideology.
I agree with you, 100% because I just didn’t buy the motivation that Sam would just forget what Cate did and be all superhero supremacy, just because he hung out with Rufus’s friends. I understand him wanting to do all those things solo but with Cate? No don’t buy it when he’s been trying to off her every time he sees her
It’s a great satire on how parents take away their children’s free will as adults. Parents giving their children the drug, is very much like parents who have their kid NBA,NFL, MLB, etc. bound from 3. Same with parents who start music lessons in hopes they have a virtuoso, then pushing them if they do, until they hate the music they used to love. Athletics is the equivalent of the super hero Major, over all else, because it’s the most lucrative, straight out of college.
@@Lynxnd I was hoping her control over the blood would work within the body, on a cellular level, as we eventually got. It just opens her up to being able to do nearly anything. Her arc was paced so well.
I had an Ah-Ha moment: Annabeth is in the adult home for supes ("Don't worry, we won't bring up your sister/ Ashley:"I can get you a MEETING with your sister."). 100% vought has Marie's sister in a facility.
I loved the show but one thing I don't get is how sam trusted cate in the end knowing what she did to his brother. Cool get radiclaised but he should have went full crazy against cate. And I get hes mentally unstable, unpredictable fuck but thats one thing I don't think sam would have did 180 on.
@@hawkeyemihawkgettingmoneylord but she was helping his greatest enemy for soo long. I don't think he would care if she killed her or not. Cate was a big part of his suffering. I don't think Sam, a mentally unstable person, would think of the nuances of how Cate was also being manipulated. While at the same time he's rejecting his brothers hallucination (which is him) telling him not all humans are bad. He's rejecting the complexities of humans, and generalised them all bad. I would think he would like to end everyone that was part of the woods, Cate included.
Nothing was more mind blowing to me than halfway through the season realizing that had Dean Shetty been in the actual Boys tv series we would have been rooting for her against the supes
Love this show. Imo tho “one last push” was referring to what she wanted Cate to do: kill everybody in the woods. No? But if she is still alive that’s gonna make such a good reveal in season 2 😭
I didn't understand how Cate went from crying on Shetty once again to let me off this woman live in front of my friends. Then break out all the crazy supes only to lead a resistance against mankind. It just seemed so out of left field snd inconsistent with her characte development.
Cate is all about control. She is either controlling others, or being controlled. That's her thing, that's how she thinks. Once she realized that she is being controlled by Shetty, she simply decided to unchain herself.
I'm pretty sure the plane that Shetty's family died on wasn't the one that Homelander failed to save (that you took the clip from), but the one at the end of the first episode that he actively downed with his laser eyes. If I remember right, she had pictures of said downed plane saved showing burn damages.
My theory about dean shetty, this was her plan to get killed and make cate go on a rampage to show the world how dangerous supes are and how big of a problem they are. And i think she did it in a way that cate didnt even realise. Like cate has always seem vindictive about being a product. Or maybe cate os still ready to die and sacrifices hers and dean shetty'a life to end supes? Idk i am curious. I loved this show. Somehow better than the boys itself. (Doesnt mean i dont want more of the boys) and holy fuck the nervousness i felt when cate was about to grab jordan and when homelander showed up. I was genuinely so afraid for the fate of these characters. Ive never felt that before.
Ok you kinda made me make sense to some things because I honestly thought the writing went downwards after they blacked out and forgot Sam for a sec. At the beginning, Shetty was so motherly to Marie but we never saw her do that with Cate until the second half of the season (as if the Cate subplot was created much later). The writing made it seem that the first time we saw Andre and Cate sleep together, it was their first time and even Cate was awkward with "should we talk about it?" but no they've been doing it longer than that.

I'm going to re-watch this show for the 4th time and I still don't know if it's that good or there is nothing better out now. The last time I was obsessed was with Dark.
Gen V was great. After season 4 of the boys I was feeling like it was losing it’s magic, but man, this show had that magic. Really entertaining, fresh and funny.
The jail cell at the end seems like they're being treated well, top tier medical treatment, being fed outside food like her coffee/milkshake, allowed to have a phone. I wonder what Vought is really doing with them
Good overview, I will say brushing over Emma getting a deeper understanding of how her powers work doesn't do her character justice. It's not so much she can shrink without puking, but she can shrink when she sees herself as small. Conversely, it likely means she grows if she feels big. This could lead itself to get growing big if she's confident or self assured, but we've only seen it manifest as her literally feeling fatter because of her eating
I was honestly expecting some CW tier drama show, but Gen V ended up absolutely blowing my expectations out of the water. It fits perfectly into The Boys universe, and its pretty impressive that they just made up a bunch of new characters and did such a good job with them. Just goes to show that not every superhero product has to be about Batman or Spiderman or Iron Man, but studios like Marvel and DC are too scared to try and come up with new characters so they just always rehash the same handful of characters over and over
12:00 missed opportunity. When they were exposing secrets i thought the show was going to reveal that her little sister with HER blood powers and then ran so she took the fall to save her little sister. A twist that would have implied that her little sister out there in the world with different and potentially more dangerous powers.
Gen V is such a fresh of breath air from 'The Boys' although it's from the same universe and deals with dark, mature themes it is a bit tamer and has great and interesting characters in my opinion. Also, it's got badass female characters.
Wait so if Marie and Victoria have the same powers can Marie make other peoples heads explode? It’s going to be really hard for Vaught to brand that power as a hero.

Gen z is a joey to friends. It could be so much better in my opinion although I do enjoy the premise and I do like the connection to the show but many of the students in the school have terrible powers. Major weaknesses. It also has a Melrose place vibe that just I could see more of the students being more like a Martin the Simpsons or urkels. Unlike shows in which the young people really expire that's missing in this show but the low quality lowbrow stuff is alive. Even the opening statement in which I don't want to spoil anything but the opening 15 minutes just starts to show off on a depressing level

Yes, they give their kids compound V when they’re babies. Ryan (Homelander’s kid) is the only living offspring of a supe that inherited his powers, and not by being injected with Compound V.
I had mixed feelings but the finale won me over. The issue I have is Gen V isn't so much a satire on the misfit young teen hero trope as much as its just another show about misfit young teen heroes. Some of the powers fall on the obscure side but they're really nothing new to a true long time comics reader. It didn't go as far as I wanted to see it go but it went far enough I'm satisfied. Jordan wasnt part of the woods though? they helped sedate luke that one time and for all they know they were just juicing up golden boy hence them wanting it too
This show was fucking amazing, shit did piss me off sometimes because some of these character's decisions were pure stupidity

Yeah when they killed that psychologist lady I was like Ayo what the fuck? Could’ve had her confess live on air
I love Gen V!! I watched the first three episodes, then went to watch the boys to see what I was missing. I don't regret it.
They should’ve given it 10 episodes.
No don’t buy it when he’s been trying to off her every time he sees her
At first I thought it was cheap and lame to go for the powers they chose. But then ... It's awesome
Same! I really thought their powers were so lame until i got to learn more about them! It made it more interesting
@@Lynxnd
I was hoping her control over the blood would work within the body, on a cellular level, as we eventually got.
Truuuuuue
I loved the show but one thing I don't get is how sam trusted cate in the end knowing what she did to his brother. Cool get radiclaised but he should have went full crazy against cate. And I get hes mentally unstable, unpredictable fuck but thats one thing I don't think sam would have did 180 on.
She just killed his greatest enemy so i dont see why he wouldn't trust her after obviously wanting the samethings.
@@lady6750Well, mental illness doesn't always make sense.
@@lady6750he’s not all there he’s a fucking psycho
He is crazy, what is so hard to understand? His brain isn't wired the right way + the abuse he went through of course his choices don't make sense
Nothing was more mind blowing to me than halfway through the season realizing that had Dean Shetty been in the actual Boys tv series we would have been rooting for her against the supes
"Timothy charla-meh" 😂😂😂 you did him dirty bro
Golden Boy looked more like Tom Brady than Tom Brady 😂 excellent casting
lol its arnold's kid
Love this show. Imo tho “one last push” was referring to what she wanted Cate to do: kill everybody in the woods. No? But if she is still alive that’s gonna make such a good reveal in season 2 😭
I didn't understand how Cate went from crying on Shetty once again to let me off this woman live in front of my friends. Then break out all the crazy supes only to lead a resistance against mankind. It just seemed so out of left field snd inconsistent with her characte development.
yeha i agree
Cate is all about control. She is either controlling others, or being controlled. That's her thing, that's how she thinks. Once she realized that she is being controlled by Shetty, she simply decided to unchain herself.
"Pretty much skyhigh" no absolutely not. Its ACTUALLY based on The Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters feom the X men.
I'm pretty sure the plane that Shetty's family died on wasn't the one that Homelander failed to save (that you took the clip from), but the one at the end of the first episode that he actively downed with his laser eyes. If I remember right, she had pictures of said downed plane saved showing burn damages.
They mention the files say Flight 37

@@LetMeExplain Could've sworn I saw differently. Cheers for the response!
I had the same questions but chalked it up to Shetty and Cate manipulating the others since they clearly did it very often
I just binged all of the boys after watching gen v lmao i’m obsessed!!
What show did you like more? I watched the boys first so i lean more towards the boys.
I did the same after seeing the first 6 eps.
@hawkeyemihawkgettingmoneyl6757 Personally, since I watched gen v first I like it more, but the boys I also find enjoyable. I think the boys in general I just feel more miserable watching so i like gen v more rewatch wise, but that's just me.

Theres this sort of college sports aspect to the series as well that I havent heard people comment on. Its really cleverly woven in the background of almost every scene.
Heard a lot of great things about this show so I might try it out. I'll come back to this after I've seen it 🙂💯
You will love it! Totally worth your time! Enjoy!
Try it and watch the boys as well this is a spin off to it
I watched it all in a day yesterday I was gasping for air once I reached ep 7 that episode ur gonna shit yourself
I'm going to re-watch this show for the 4th time and I still don't know if it's that good or there is nothing better out now. The last time I was obsessed was with Dark.
Where can I watch it please?
Just goes to show that not every superhero product has to be about Batman or Spiderman or Iron Man, but studios like Marvel and DC are too scared to try and come up with new characters so they just always rehash the same handful of characters over and over
Its a fkn great show cant wait for szn 2
My favorite part 21:24 to 21:34 😂 the way you called out Homelander was hilarious. No words, just evidence.
Rewatching Gen V while Boys come out hits different :D
I love that everyone also has Emma as their favorite character
Is it weird that I feel like Gen V is kinda better than the base show?
Same. Didn't expect to like the show this much
I feel the same. I really like The Boys but have no interest in rewatching it, Gen V I’ve already rewatched.
@@tlahmedexactly how i feel now, can’t believe i haven’t watched it sooner
12:00 missed opportunity. When they were exposing secrets i thought the show was going to reveal that her little sister with HER blood powers and then ran so she took the fall to save her little sister. A twist that would have implied that her little sister out there in the world with different and potentially more dangerous powers.
Gen V is such a fresh of breath air from 'The Boys' although it's from the same universe and deals with dark, mature themes it is a bit tamer and has great and interesting characters in my opinion. Also, it's got badass female characters.
I was confused about the warning now it makes sense

I didn’t notice that phone at the end 😂😂 I wonder if that was a mistake or actually part of the show lmaol
Ah since Marie and Neuman have the same power they both survived Homelander’s laser
Wait so if Marie and Victoria have the same powers can Marie make other peoples heads explode? It’s going to be really hard for Vaught to brand that power as a hero.
She exploded her own mother and dick of Rofus. She just needs to learn control.

I forgot how explicit the show The Boys was and when i put on Gen V and a girl shrunk down and hopped on a d**k i was caught off guard. Not the right show to put on for background noise lol
I went to skip a recap on one of the episodes and my TV buffered right at that part 😅 it was scarring lol
Love this show more than i thought probably more thab Boys
Gen z is a joey to friends. It could be so much better in my opinion although I do enjoy the premise and I do like the connection to the show but many of the students in the school have terrible powers. Major weaknesses. It also has a Melrose place vibe that just I could see more of the students being more like a Martin the Simpsons or urkels. Unlike shows in which the young people really expire that's missing in this show but the low quality lowbrow stuff is alive. Even the opening statement in which I don't want to spoil anything but the opening 15 minutes just starts to show off on a depressing level
Homelander does not see himself as like the rest of the supes he sees himself as a god, so he kills supes he doesn't consider them his kind
Better relation to blood bending would be Hama from avatar the last airbender.
Hey! love your channel, but you should really add subtitles at 6:45-6:47, because what youre saying sounds almost like a slur if you're not listening attentively. oh holy shit thank god i thought i heard the other thing and replayed it like 6 times
Were the children of supes also given V, or did they get their powers genetically?
If I'm not mistaken homelanders kid has power, but wasn't given V
@@xXArmitronXx so then would he be susceptible to the virus? If it only reacts to compound V in the blood, he may not be.
Interesting take
Yes, they give their kids compound V when they’re babies. Ryan (Homelander’s kid) is the only living offspring of a supe that inherited his powers, and not by being injected with Compound V.
@@cassandraanoai4034i think its compound v mixed with genetics. Andre coincidentally has the same powers as his dad, and same with translucent son
Can't wait for more.
