I just got to the bit where Jay says "Who is this actor playing young Vito?" 🤣🤣🤣
They don't watch enough great movies.
They've probably seen him in recent movies and don't recognize him as a young man. Don't think they've seen "Taxi Driver" either.
I came to say the same thing!
omg i literally had to pause and came to say the same...like whaaaaaaattt. i wonder if theyre gonna notice on their own or look it up
nvm. literally 2 seconds later lol
Robert DeNiro and Marlon Brando both won Best Actor Oscars for playing the same character. Both movies won Best Picture.
*DeNiro won Best Supporting Actor for Godfather Part 2
And they should, for the character they were doing. Robert played a young immigrant who just wanted to work for a living & mind his own business, but ends up becoming powerful very well.
And Marlon played a man who’s already at the last chapters of his life, & wants to leave a legacy behind.
There just wasn't enough time... Not enough Time
Didn’t Robert DeNiro spend a month down there on his own dime getting the accent/mannerisms down?
Jay : "Who is this actor, young Vito" Amber: "They got a good actor to play Vito" . . . . . . . I laughed so hard. You guys gotta watch "Taxi Driver"
I came here to say this....They know the name I'm sure....they probably just didn't recognize him because he's so young....lol! Robert DeNiro!!!!
To be fair, ive seen him in many many movies and when i saw this for the very first time a couple months ago, i didnt recognize him immediately. it was his mannerism that made me realize who it was. if you saw this way back when and grew up with him, you would know him along the way, but i think he definitely looks different and not "obvious" at first.
At 48:30, he asks Amber "Is that a young Robert DeNiro?
It would’ve been nice to see the subtitles when Italian was spoken (not understanding spoken Italian)😵💫
Don’t you even try and make excuses for these people. All reaction people on UA-cam pull this crapola! They all try and act like they’ve never scene any of these movies and shows just to get views in order to make $$$.
That rug really tied the room together.
Fredo you're out of your element.
The Don abides.
😂🤣👍🏽
I have a smaller version of that Rug, same design and colour. I bought it at an auction 45 years ago ..... It's worth about $2, 500, I bought it for $ 380!
@@jamesalexander5623 Does it really bring your room together?
John Casale played Fredo. He died at age 42 in 1978. He appeared in 5 Academy Award winning movies. Godfather, Godfather 2, Deer Hunter, Dog Day Afternoon, & The Conversation. Meryl Streep was his girl. Al Pacino adored him. Amazing career.
You should mention those were the ONLY feature films he was in, and they were all oscar nominated!
also worth mentioning... he shares the same initials as our lord J C
@@firstnamelastname-bu1xm even the same middle initial! J.H.C. 😇 🙏🏾
@@Orangeflava thats some spot lol i love that!
"That was the kiss of death." THANK YOU AMBER! Most reactors I've seen have not gotten the significance of that kiss. It was indeed a Sicilian message - a kiss of death. And Fredo got that message too. That's why he ran.
💀💀
Lee Strasburg who played Hyman Roth was a mentor to Al Pacino he was best known for teaching actors.
He also taught De Niro
he also taught Brando , James Dean and Marolin Munro @@technofilejr3401
Magnificent performance by him.
Strasburg wasn't just any acting teacher, though. He's the one who actually created "The Method" (easily one of the most famous and influential acting techniques out there) and was the director of the legendary Actors Studio! All early Method actors learned the technique directly from him: Montgomery Clift, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Robert De Niro, Paul Newman... the list goes on. He is beyond a legend in the acting community.
@@SwiftFoxProductions I especially loved him as Al Pacino's grandfather in And Justice for All
A very young Robert DeNiro
De Niro was one of the best actors of the 70s in some of the greatest movies: Godfather 2, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter, Mean Streets, etc.
Too bad he's now old senile and paranoid.
Raging Bull is a MUST!!!
"I know it was you Fredo, you broke my heart, you broke my Heart ( kiss of death)"
Greatest scene ever.
Robert Deniro’s remarkable performance as young Vito (young Brando) earned him his first Oscar. He reportedly immersed himself in Sicilian which is why he sounds so authentic.
Clemenza was played by Bruno Kirby who you migh recognize from WHEN HARRY MET SALLYin which he played Billy Crystal’s friend Jess who married Marie played by Carrie Fisher. Brmuno’s dad Bruce Kirby was a journeyman Hollywood actor who played in a half dozen COLUMBOs in the 70s. Now there’s a rabbit hole to go down!
Bruno was in two episodes of Colombo too. He is credited as B. Kirby Jr. Bruno was a great character actor, he died too young.
Bruno was also Crystal's friend in City Slickers!
Young Clemenza (the one Vito helped to steal the rug) was played by Bruno Kirby who was also Carrie Fisher's husband in When Harry Met Sally.
He was also in City Slickers with Billy Crystal
Also "Good Morning Vietnam".
Very funny actor. He passed way too early. He was great as the Limo driver in Spinal Tap too.
@@scottavery1751 Also in another mob movie, Donnie Brasco.
I remember him from Room 222, I think
He was one of Kurt Russell's college housemates in the Medfield movies, him and Ed Bagley Jr. The Computer wore Tennis Shoes and .... I forget the other one.
Jay: "This ones starting out a little slower than the last one"
My brain: "JUST WAIT"
Hyman Roth is based on a legendary old school "alleged" gangster Meyer Lansky. He was a long time friend of Bugsy Siegel, the basis for Moe Green, in the first film.
Only Bugsy Siegal was a whole lot more frightening than Moe Greene...
@@ronweber1402 Didn't want to go into full blown bios of who the characters were based on. Though Jay should look into Murder, Inc if he really wants to learn about organized crime in America.
No Jay not the record label, but what it's named after.
@@ronweber1402 He famously said to a nervous guest "We only kill each other."
Clemenza was the guy who rode with Vito's bodyguard and the other person in the car killed the bodyguard for letting Don Corleone get shot. He had the classic line: "Leave the gun. Take the canolis"
Simpler to tell them: “The fat guy” 🤷🏻♂️
@@BlueShadow777 Fat Clemenza
Rocco Lampone left the gun. Paulie was the Don's driver
They wanted the guy who played Clemenza to come back for the second film, but the actor Richard Castellano had been given a lot of freedom to ad-lib on Part 1 and basically wanted to completely rewrite his dialogue for Part 2. He and the filmmakers couldn't agree, and so Clemenza died/was killed offscreen (depending on whose POV it is) and Frank Pentangeli took his place.
also killed the sister's husband for setting up sonny
This is the best sequel in the history of movies.
It's like this, Terminator II and very few others where the sequel is almost superior.
Absolutely 💯
I like part 2 as well as part 1
And Terminator 2 and The Empire Strikes Back.
Definitely up there
GODFATHER 2 is the absolute best of them all.
Young DeNiro, magnetic.
truly. the use of dual storylines showing the rise of vito and the downfall of michael is absolutely brilliant storytelling.
The first film is the best for me
Scarface imo
More complex. To say one’s better than the other is a tough call.
The chaos after Michael gives Fredo the kiss of death is because Fidel Castro had just taken over Cuba on New Years Day 1959.
Yes, and everyone was trying to get out of the country
@@HappyOne3 At that point only the Fascist Elites!
Jay is funny! How do you not recognize DeNero
I’m always blown away by the attention to detail in the Godfather movies. No expense spared. Al Pacino is so beautiful in this movie.
If you look at old photographs of New York during the early 1900's, you'll see how accurately they replicated that time period for this movie. Unbelievable considering no CGI was available. It was all done with outstanding set, props and costume design. They certainly don't make them like they used to!
What makes this movie so great is that they're highlighting actual history. When he says that Arnold Rothstein fixed the 1919 World Series, that actually happened. You watched Field of Dreams a couple of weeks ago, Shoeless Joe Jackson was on that 1919 White Sox/Black Sox team.
And when Michael goes to Cuba and there's a revolution, that actually happened. In the 1950s, the mafia ran Cuba.
And when Michael goes in front of that Congressional hearing, that actually happened.
yes, Cuba was an organized crime sanctuary under the dictator Batista, then deposed by Fidel Castro and his merry men. Hyman Roth was a knock off of Meyer Lansky who was the head of Murder, Inc. Lansky did try to emigrate to Israel but they refused to accept him. And in GF One Johnny Fontaine (Al Martino) was obviously Frank Sinatra
Thank you; beat me to it!
There was a highly contagious eye infection that could cause blindness. New arrivals at Ellis Island we always checked for it, and if they were infected, quarantined and treated before release. It was actually pretty humane.
Glad you guys got around to watching this! A really good companion to watch is 'LA Confidential'. It's got an outstanding cast. You won't regret it!
Hyman Roth was played by Lee Strasberg, who only appeared in about 10 films. However, he became a legendary acting teacher and one of his students at one point was Al Pacino aka Michael.
Lee Strasberg also auditioned for the role of Mickey in Rocky and was set to get the role, until Burgess Meredith went off-script during his own audition and secured the role instead.
The Godfather Part 1 and 2 are the greatest and second greatest films of all time! Just a matter of which is number one and which is number two.
Finally we continue the story of the Corleone family. I don’t know how you guys have gone this long without watching this. That Nino Rota opening theme is the best!
Amazing sequel. Stellar actors, exclusively Robert Di Nero. The Best of all three movies!!
Not to be judgmental but I often see people that don’t write well or perhaps English is a secondary language. Here is a bit to help, it would be “especially” when you want to single a person out among a lot of good actors. Exclusively would be implying only De Niro was good.
Robert De Niro was nominated for an Oscar this year. But the hosts of this "movie" reaction channel seemed oblivious to the Oscars.
@brt1strrbb110 Bit presumptuous to the secondary language reference. English is my primary. Honestly, "especially" was on my mind, but "exclusively" was typed 🤷🏻♀️ Doesn't change my mind that De Niro is one hell of an actor✌️
God Father One was the best for me but part 2 is the same in many ways. These two could be one movie/film. Part 3 is just an example of a failure
I disagree. IMO, the 1st one is far better. 3rd one is nothing.
The DVD box set menu for this one is a loop of young Vito in the quarantine, singing. It's haunting to wake up to.
lol omg yes! I had that and that happened to me so many times when I was younger. that singing started to freak me out after a while.
They are checking is eyelashes for lice..my grandfather was 12 when he came over from Italy-he went with family he never met..many kids came alone.
He wasn’t a “Corleone” he came from Corleone-his name meant nothing at that time, that is the Godfather as a child.
The back and forth from Vito growing up to the “present” is such a great way of storytelling but not everyone can keep up with the whole thing.
Seeing how the other boss ran the neighborhood, young Vito knew how he wanted to run it-he got respect from local business people by respecting them.
It was funny to see baby Sonny, a little temper even as a baby!
Vito Corleone's real surname was "Andolini". He was from Corleone, Sicily.
The leader of Cuba before Castro, Fulgencio Batista, was not a Communist but he was crooked and welcomed the Mafia to open casinos--while he got lucrative payoffs from them.
He was a Fascist Dictator who Murdered Thousands! .... The First Cuban "Exiles" were Fascist Elites!
A lot of the irl Mafia did indeed use Cuba as part of their operations prior to the fall of Batista - Lucky Luciano, founder of the Commission, and Meyer Lansky (the inspiration for Hyman Roth) had operations there because it was close to America but outside of their jurisdiction - Luciano had been released from prison but deported to Italy in 1946 in exchange for his and the Mafia's co-operation with Operation Underworld, an OSS (pre-CIA) counter-intelligence operation to have the Mafia prevent smuggling or sabotage of ships docked in NYC and other east coast cities during WWII, but that's a whole other story.
Knowing what we do now, it seems the Mothers and fathers Italian Association would have been better stewards of Cuba than ole Fidel and Co.
@@thomasmilazzo6273 go peddle your anti-communist brainwashing somewhere else, simp. VIVA FIDEL. Your empire is in its death throws.
Leaving aside the fictional characters of this film, the scene of the New Year's party at the presidential palace in Havana is inspired by real events. Batista received news that Castro and his troops had taken Santa Clara, so he resigned from the presidency that same night and fled to the Dominican Republic shortly after. Chaos and riots in the streets also happened in real life.
Awesome movie!! Try “Dog Day Afternoon” both Mike and Fredo are the leads!!🤘🔥
I wish I could like this 40x!! I LOOOOVE that movie!
John Cazale was only in 5 movies(Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather 2, Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter) and all of them were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. He died in the late 70s from cancer, he was dating a young Meryl Streep.
Here's a funfact for you.
The lakeside estate featured in this film is located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, in the community of Homewood California.
It was originally owned by Henry J. Kaiser, who was an industrialist responsible for Kaiser Permanente.
The estate sold years ago and redeveloped . The main house was torn down to make room for condos. It is now called Flure De Lak. The only thing left in original condition is the boathouse where m9st of the scenes were filmed.
😢 I hate when they knock down beautiful old houses.
@philburton2223
Yeah, me too.
My grandmother's cousin Jessi had a small two bedroom cabin right on the lake, roughly 100 yards from the Kaiser estate. The cabin was hand built by Jessies husband in the late 20s. I was lucky enough to have stayed there for a couple of weeks when I was 14 years old..
The cabin was sold after Jessi passed away at the age of 103, and the new owner had the cabin demolished and thrown away, and a brand new modern luxury home with an Italian stone facade took its place
I have a genuine appreciation for old-school craftsmanship. I'm blessed to have been born into a family that allowed me to have access to a truly wonderful place before it became over exploited.
Yes, that was Adrian from Rocky. However, the guy that played Willie Chi-Chi also played Mr Gazzo, the loan shark that Rocky collected for.
Trivia fun fact: Frankie “Five Angels” gets his nick-name from his last name… Pentageli
And they created the Pentangeli character because the guy who played Clemenza in the first movie wanted too much money. Othrewise it would've been Clemenza running the family in New York.
The moment when Michael hug Fredo,..grabs him for his neck and tell him that he knows that he is a traitor is one of the most powerfull scene ever made in cinemagraphic history..
Michael’s sisters boyfriend is played by a major 60’s movie star, Troy Donahue, whose REAL name is Merle Johnson, given the same name as in the movie. You have to watch The Sopranos. ❤
Who was name dropped in Grease.
The character of Johnny Ola Also played Uncle Junior of the Sopranos. Anyone recall the great basketball movie with Robbie Benson? “One on One” The Senator played the ruthless college coach. Great character actor that made a lot of films. The great Lee Strasberg played Roth who happened to be Al Pacino’s acting coach. The mass exodus was the start of the Castro era hence fleeing the island in droves.
All I know is he never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
@@Rizzle2323 Johnny Ola??😂
@TheLrizzo aww, I was just about to write that!
I thought I was the only one who saw "One on One"! I loved that movie as a teen.
@@jmo2160 Same here. It’s available on iTunes, that’s it.
CLEMENZA " LEAVE THE GUN, TAKE THE CANOLI."
Young Clemenza played by Bruno Kirby who was also in Donnie Brasco.
Leave Part 3, take Parts 1 and 2!
Agree racking, never got into part 3
“Goodfellas “should be the next mob movie reaction. “Casino” also great. Both star Robert Dinero and Joe Pesci.
I'm sure others have replied but the actor playing young Vito is Robert De Niro. You can go down a huge rabbit hole watching his films - he's one of the greatest actors of all time. He also won an Oscar for his role in this film. "The Deer Hunter" is a must see. As is "Awakenings,," "Casino", "Goodfellas," "Raging Bull," "Taxi Driver," "Meet The Parents", "The Fan," "Cape Fear".....I could go on and on!
Arguably one of the actors that would be put on an actors version of Mount Rushmore.
DeNiro has made a living playing the same guy over and over and over...
One of my favorite actors.
Don't forget, he was also in Joker. Although a small part, his character represented the ills of Gotham City and what Joker thought best to correct them.
My fave is "Mean Streets" ,his first Scorcese film - also his first film.(I believe)ALL other movies he's in, he's a choirboy compared to the psychotic ass-clown he portrays in this.
Rare sequel better than the already iconic first
You should watch The Sopranos TV Show. The best mafia series ever
Yes! Great series.
THE greatest movie EVER
Roth's speech about Moe Green was him confessing his anger at Michael for having Moe killed in the first film. That;s why Roth wants Michael dead.
43:50 - In the credits for the movie, they just list his character down as "Michael's Bodyguard". But if you do some research, you'll find out that his name is actually, Bussetta. He was an enforcer specifically brought in from Sicily by the Corleone family. The actor who played Bussetta was Amerigo Tot (1909-1984).
Please look up Myer Lansky on wikipedia. You will see that Hyman Roth is based on Myer Lansky.
Lee Strasbourg who played Hyman Roth ran an acting schoool. its students included Alec Baldwin, Joshua Bowman, Rachel Brosnahan, Claire Danes, Rosario Dawson
Laura Dern, Chris Evans, Sally Field, Lady Gaga, Armie Hammer, Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johannsen, Angelina Jolie, Sienna Miller, Marilyn Monroe, Kelli O’Hara, Uma Thurman,
Al Pacino, Miles Teller, Jon Voight,, Chandra Wilson.
Dominic Chianes who played Johny Ola also played Tony Soprano's brother, Uncle Junior.
Moe Green is based on the gangster Bugsy Siegal.
Bugsy
And Adrienne from Rocky is Michael's sister. The little boy at the start is Michael's father from the original Godfather
And the directors sister.
In real life she's Francis Ford Coppola's sister.
Talia Shire
8:04. They already recognized Talia Shire from “Rocky.”
Let's keep this sequel train rolling with 1995's "Grumpier Old Men". (Yes, they get GRUMPIER!!!)
Amber and Jordan if you like mafia movies. You may like (The Untouchables) it's the story of how Al Capone got caught. Keep up with the good work 😎👍
Untouchables is more of an FBI movie about them going after the Mob, but its still a really good movie. But a good mafia related thing to watch is Boardwalk Empire which has a lot of real life gangsters like Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano and Al Capone as characters.
32:53 - The assassin choking out Pantangelli is actor famous Italian Danny Aiello. He is in great crime film called "The Professional" (aka Léon: The Professional) 1994. It stars Jean Reno (of Mission: Impossible), Natalie Portman ("Padme", in Star Wars: Episode I, II, III), and Gary Oldman (of Bram Stoker's: Dracula). This is an AMAZING, perfect film. Danny Aiello also stars in the suspense horror thriller, "Jacob's Ladder" 1990, which also stars Tim Robbins (of the Shawshank Redemption), and Elizabeth Pena (of Rush Hour).
Also Moonstruck and spike Lee movie Do The Right Thing
And some Madonna video.
They really need to react to The Professional. It was Portman's first acting role.
Also Hudson Hawk with Bruce Willis and Andy MacDowell
Fun fact: the boy playing Sonny Corleone as a baby is Roman Coppola, Francis’ son. He’s now a filmmaker and frequent collaborator with Wes Anderson.
You also MUST watch the classic mafia movies "GOODFELLAS" and "BRONX TALE" 🙌
Casino, Donnie Brasco and the Armand Assante version of Gotti.

my grandmother came through those chutes from the Azores in 1914 at age 7. we took her back there in 1989. she remembered eating her first banana there. she had to spend the night while someone drove down from boston to collect her.
First Communion is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church and usually takes place in second grade.
25:18 You probably don’t realize it, but the actor here playing the young Clemenza is Bruno Kirby, who later became known to audiences as Lt. Steven Hauk in GOOD MORNING VIETNAM (1987), Jess Fisher, Billy Crystal’s best friend in WHEN HARRY MET SALLY…(1989), and Ed Furillo, one of Billy Crystal’s two best friends in CITY SLICKERS (1991). Sadly, he died in 2006 at age 57 from complications of leukemia.
This is the best one!
A masterpiece
The upheaval in CUBA in 1958, brings it home to me. My father was a Marine in Guantanamo at this time and my mother gave birth to my older sister in July 1958. For awhile he thought her birthday was July 4th because that’s when the Red Cross informed him… it was July 2nd😊
One of the great things from this amazing series of movies is when the writer of the first movie wrote the script he had no clue how to write one. Now when you go to filming school the very first class you take on writing a great script is read the first godfather movie script.
Clemenza was the heavy-set capo, and Tessio was the tall thin capo. The original consigliere in the first movie was Genco Abbandando, who died early in a deleted scene in the first film. In this movie, young Genco was the fellow who was with Vito at the Italian musical play when they first saw Fanucci.
Godfather movies are my faves of all time. i sent you an email a long time ago listing all the Academy Awards they won. So happy you like them! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
They were checking under young Vito's eyelids at Ellis Island because they were looking for Trachoma, which is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. It is highly contagious and is frequently connected with poor areas of the world. Having Trachoma was a rejection and would mean you were automatically sent back on the next boat. It is thought that possibly tens of thousands of people were sent back to their home countries because they had conjunctivitis, which was frequently mistaken for trachoma.
Yes, that's a young Robert De Niro playing a young Vito - great performance by another Hollywood legend!

Michael V. Gazzo was nominated for a supporting actor Oscar, for his portrayal of Frankie "Five Angels" Pentangeli.
'who's that young actor they got to play Vito". 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yes, it's DeNiro and it made him a star and he won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in this role.
Please oh please, do either “My Wild Irish Rose”, “The Quiet Man” or “Angela’s Ashes” all Irish focused films for St. Patrick’s Day????? Oh, and the female lead in The Quiet Man is Maureen O’Hara. She was known as “The Queen of Technicolor” because of her red hair, and beautiful facial features. 30 years later or so, she was a star in “Only The Lonely” with John Candy.
Angela's Ashes is a great movie!!
Quiet Man for sure
Michael Collins is a great movie about the history of Ireland, starring Liam Neeson.

Apollonia would never have gotten an abortion and would have stayed quite about Michael's business.
I have always said this very samething. Thats why Michael shouldve chose another Sicilian woman Kay would never understand or accept the family business because she is Americanized and too opinionated.
I lived over the “mountain” Spooner Pass from Lake Tahoe, so beautiful. . Miss it.
Late commenting but I wanted to point out how that Ellis Island scene was super authentic. A lot of families got their names changed exactly like that. My great grandfather had a thick accent, so when he said his name, "Firstname. Firstname Lastname," our old world last name sounded like "son" to the clerk, so he wrote down "Firstname Firstnameson" and we've been the Firstnamesons ever since.
I loved growing up Italian and imagining my distant relatives being mobsters. Then we did Ancestry. Turns out we're Scottish. 😂

The thing that always bothered me about Kay was the fact that she married him despite knowing he was head of a Mafia family. I would have been terrified to be his friend let alone his wife. I do not believe that love could over look those risk.
Michael promised him he was going to make the family legitimate, he didn't follow through on it. But Kay got comfortable live in a big house with a lot of money.
@@joemckim1183 I get that, but 1 day in that kind of situation would have been too much for me. She knew what she was getting into, so having the abortion out of anger sounds crazy. I think she closed her eyes to a lot of things, I just don't get the reason.

Vito was young veral and ambitious This is were he climbed the ladder and made his empire .
Well...
If you have the time to watch and edit a 200 minute movie, that must mean you can watch the sound of music, which is only 175 minutes long
Please get to it
It's overdue 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This isn't exactly a sequel, but the second half of one book: "The Godfather."
Only Vito's backstory though. Michael's story after he takes over isn't in the book
The music does so much to illustrate the action without being overwhelming. Brilliant.
Robert Deneri was young Vito. ❤
Hyman Roth was portrayed by famous drama teacher, actor Lee Strasberg, who trained many great actors including Dustin Hoffman, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino. It's not often that a person gets to work professionally with their teacher.
You guys should definitely watch part 3 after even if it’s not that popular, still worth the watch
One of the best movies ever made. Hands down!
Michael had NO IDEA or suspicion that Fredo betrayed him until that reveal at the club. Faith in his blood family’s loyalty is his only blind spot.
🇮🇹 This Italian American knows one thing, You two chose wisely in watching this movie 🇮🇹 I really like your channel so please keep up the great work 🤟 Happy Belated St.Patrick's Day 🍀
Hyman Roth was played by Lee Strasberg. He was an acting teacher who taught nearly everyone in this movie.
Vito's consigliere (before Tom) was Genco Abbandando -- the son of the grocery store owner who had to lay Vito off. Their olive oil brand was Genco Pura, named after Genco. He died right around the time of Connie's wedding to Carlo, and Tom became consigliere. Clemenza and Tessio (here Vito's early partners in crime) became his two caporegimes -- the top lieutenants in the family.
21:39 - That's actress Kathleen Beller. She played the character Princess Alana in one of the best medieval themed movies ever: #title: "The Sword and the Sorcerer" (1982). Her hair is long and gorgeous in that movie too, lol. I highly recommend it. Fantastic film!
The wire-dealie is called a garrote, incidentally. Favorite for guerillas, criminals, and anyone else who wants to take someone else out on the DL goin' wayyy back.
Ok, you two blew me away not knowing who Robert DeNiro is (young adult Vito). Wow!!!!
In his defense DeNiro speaks mostly in Italian in this movie and doesn't act the same way he normally does. He did say he seemed familiar to him at.least. But yes when he started to say that I thought he was going to say the Clemenza actor seemed familiar to him. I never thought he wasn't going to recognize Robert DeNiro
The guy following Michael around is Al Neri, his right hand man. He’s a former cop, and a bad ass. I wholeheartedly recommend reading The Godfather. You learn a lot about the characters, in this movie and the first one. You can always listen to the audiobook while working out. There are entire storylines that don’t make it into the movies. You learn why Vito isn’t afraid of Don Fanuci.
The young Vito was played by the actor Robert DeNiro. He won an Academy Award for his role in this movie. He is a very well-known actor. Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Awakenings, The Deer Hunter, etc. These are just a few of his movies. I suggest you both get busy and start watching his movies. He continues to make movies today.
Bruno Kirby was best known for his roles in City Slickers, When Harry Met Sally..., Good Morning, Vietnam and this one as well
Clemenza and Tessio were Vito Corleone’s Capo Regimes. His Captains. Genko (the guy he was watching the play with) was his original Consigliere. When he died, Tom Hagan became the Consigliere.
I hate that they didn’t go more into Vito’s relationship with Genko. The guy that tried giving Vito the care package was Genko’s father.
