Hi Bonnie, it can easily be interpreted that way without understanding the true meaning of the Pride movement and the need for it in society, whether in a religious setting or not. As a gay man, I wish we wouldn't have to fly a Pride flag in 2023 as I really don't like to think of people like me as any different or separate from anyone else. The Canadian flag should, in theory, include and represent everyone. However, for men to simply love other men openly or women to simply love other women openly (for me, not a choice; I have been attracted to other guys since childhood), the reality is such that they can face unjustified harassment, bullying, ostracization, or violence anywhere-and even imprisonment or death in dozens of countries around the world. When I was in high school, I had nobody to talk to about my sexual orientation, let alone even dating someone who I may have wanted to date or asking him to prom. Like heterosexual relationships, there is more to a homosexual relationship than just sex, obviously. I challenge you to ask yourself if heterosexual people need to fly a flag. I would guess not, because men loving women and vice versa does not result in discrimination, violence, or punishment. Thank you for reading my comment. I hope it provides some insight. I by no means derive pride as in an accomplishment, per se, and definitely not to be better than others in any way, but those who can be themselves and openly love who they want to love in their own family setting or hold hands in public is a feeling of great relief and something to embrace about oneself. I can tell you one thing, if I didn't have the support I did, I would've been in a very different place mentally and emotionally. Again, what I love about Canada is a place we can all let one another lead our lives and accept one another. I'm not even that much into flags, period!! 😉
@Calm Lake Again, good points raised. Thanks for the comment. For perspective, the Pride flag is often flown for a few days and at most for a week or month (i.e. June). I agree, though, that other groups are marginalized and should equally be accepted at school. The one, national flag should be enough. And I believe we are getting there as a nation. I feel safe in Canada, personally, and am comfortable enough with myself to not push who I am on others or justify. I just feel respect and love for all is the key. I love and respect people who don't agree with me on certain topics and we can still have a conversation. That's the beauty of a free democracy.

Two flags that stand for very different things but both parties used similar tactics to push their flags and what they stand for. Pushing propaganda onto children in their schools, re-writing history, manipulation, murals/paintings/posters and events, threats of violence and financial/social repricussions for not complying or speaking out against it, a tool to label people, utilizing media and news organizations to tell people how they should think are all the same tactics that both parties have used before. Two very different flags for two very different things but both parties would die for their flag because to them their flag represents thier personal rose colored vision for the best possible version of humanity that will lead to prosperity. As a Canadian i think only the Maple leaf should fly at schools and public owned buildings and places. If any other flag is put up it should be an Indigenous flag. Why are indigenous flags not put up i know every morning in schools all across Canadian we recognize the land as theirs. This would be a more important and respectful thing to do.

Hi Bonnie, it can easily be interpreted that way without understanding the true meaning of the Pride movement and the need for it in society, whether in a religious setting or not. As a gay man, I wish we wouldn't have to fly a Pride flag in 2023 as I really don't like to think of people like me as any different or separate from anyone else. The Canadian flag should, in theory, include and represent everyone. However, for men to simply love other men openly or women to simply love other women openly (for me, not a choice; I have been attracted to other guys since childhood), the reality is such that they can face unjustified harassment, bullying, ostracization, or violence anywhere-and even imprisonment or death in dozens of countries around the world. When I was in high school, I had nobody to talk to about my sexual orientation, let alone even dating someone who I may have wanted to date or asking him to prom. Like heterosexual relationships, there is more to a homosexual relationship than just sex, obviously. I challenge you to ask yourself if heterosexual people need to fly a flag. I would guess not, because men loving women and vice versa does not result in discrimination, violence, or punishment. Thank you for reading my comment. I hope it provides some insight. @Reality Reviews I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this, and thank you for being respectful. You raise a good point. I by no means derive pride as in an accomplishment, per se, and definitely not to be better than others in any way, but those who can be themselves and openly love who they want to love in their own family setting or hold hands in public is a feeling of great relief and something to embrace about oneself. I can tell you one thing, if I didn't have the support I did, I would've been in a very different place mentally and emotionally. Again, what I love about Canada is a place we can all let one another lead our lives and accept one another. I'm not even that much into flags, period!! 😉
@Calm Lake Again, good points raised. Thanks for the comment. For perspective, the Pride flag is often flown for a few days and at most for a week or month (i.e. June). I agree, though, that other groups are marginalized and should equally be accepted at school. The one, national flag should be enough. And I believe we are getting there as a nation. I feel safe in Canada, personally, and am comfortable enough with myself to not push who I am on others or justify. I just feel respect and love for all is the key. I love and respect people who don't agree with me on certain topics and we can still have a conversation. That's the beauty of a free democracy.

The pride flag has become a symbol of hate, division, and forced coercion. Exactly opposite of what it was originally meant to represent. Live as you will but do not force your morals and values on others who do not share the same views.
We need to recognize that resisting the Pride Flag doesn't equate to hating homsexual people or homosexuality or even that you aren't yourself proudly gay. It just means not wanting to raise a flag representing a group of people or social issue.
I don't care if you're gay or straight, I don't care what colour your skin is, I don't care what your religious beliefs are and I don't care what you celebrate, those are all your choices that you are free to make on your own.

Two flags that stand for very different things but both parties used similar tactics to push their flags and what they stand for. Pushing propaganda onto children in their schools, re-writing history, manipulation, murals/paintings/posters and events, threats of violence and financial/social repricussions for not complying or speaking out against it, a tool to label people, utilizing media and news organizations to tell people how they should think are all the same tactics that both parties have used before.
Two very different flags for two very different things but both parties would die for their flag because to them their flag represents thier personal rose colored vision for the best possible version of humanity that will lead to prosperity.
My opinion is she's allowed to make that comparison and speak freely but obviously people will be outraged because the flag they stand by is being compared to one flag that is forever tainted with the darkest atrocities that humanity has ever witnessed which is understandable. I've always believed two consenting adults can do as they please, but those who push sexual content on children and manipulate them into a lifestyle fundamemtally based around sexuality and sexual activities is dangerous for humanity and we are only beginning to see the harm that is being caused. Until then keep your kids safe and make sure you stay involved in their life to steer them away from any dark path they may go down.

In the movie First Man, Hollywood purposely left out the stars and stripes planted on the moon in that iconic, historical scene from that movie. Why? Because Hollywood is anti-American.
