  • Opening up and cleaning the Clutch Switch on a 2007 Triumph Speed Triple. It should be similar to most all bikes out there that use a plunger type switch.
I am not a Mechanic but I do wrench on my own bikes and van whenever I have time.
Don't work on this Switch if you don't have patience and are one of those who rushes through as there are several tiny parts with a spring that if you lost it, you will be stuck without a bike for a while.

IM SO GLAD SOMEONE IS MAKING VIDEOS FOR THIS BIKE. A lot of the video tutorials online are for the later model speed triple.

Dude thanks for the video I've been looking for something like this everywhere. My bike gives me issues where I try to hit the starter and nothing happens, I think it's the clutch safety like you're showing here.
Also where'd you get that carbon triple tree cover?

      Hey Ariel,
I am not sure. The carbon was already there when I got the bike.
Also, these bikes have the same issues when you press on the starter and nothing happens due to couple other reasons too.
One of the main culprit is the ignition lockset key. There are 7 wires under the lockset that turn on the headlights, the gauge clutter and of course to start the bike. That whole wire set is short and when you turn the handle bars, it eventually cuts the wire. And that’s one of the main reason you may be having issues. I have had to solder those wires like several times. I also have many videos on how to fix that too. If I haven’t post it here then that’s because I haven’t had time to edit video. I will look for it this week and see if I can post it.
Let me know if the clutch switch fixed your problem. If not then it’s a very expensive to replace the lockset unless you can solder it like I did.
One way to check it without opening up everything is, whenever you have that issue, then try to jiggle or press on wires under the key. Or just turn the handle bars from left to right while starting the bike. And if does start while doing that, then it could be those wires.

Would have been a great video if the music had been left out. The guy talks very low and the music overpowers his voice.

Hello I know this video is a year old but I’ll try my question anyway. I had the same issue but cannot remember the order of that pin? Do you remember the order in which you installed the pin? Thanks in advance

Hello @mikebike have you ever heard about a different starting problem, where the starter is spinning and spinning rapidly, but the bike is not able to start? (as if it had no fuel or spark - but it seems that it HAS the fuel and the spark). I am chasing this for 3 years now, if you have any ideas I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

Hi Perfecto, Does the bike eventually start or you haven't rode the bike in 3 years? Not that I remember. Have you checked for spark at the plugs and that's fine? And you think its getting fuel because you hear the pump priming? First try cheap fix. Ether test your EFI relay or just replace it for $20. Its the relay next to the fuel pump relay. If not then try and remove the fuel rail and see if you can see the fuel spitting out from the injectors. Could your injectors be that clogged? Does the bike ever start? You mean the bike hasn't started in 3 years? I have a video somewhere of my injectors. Here is my video that I just uploaded so you can get to see everything I was trouble-shooting and eventually solved by replacing the EFI relay.

Wish you luck man and keep us posted here and let me know how you do. Thanks.

Hi, I had the same problem. It was my Crank Position Sensor. It's part of the stator. Best of luck
