This video was a huge facto for me in deciding to buy the DUSK ottoman. I also built it on my own. I'm sixty, look seventy and feel eighty. A few tricky bits (the angle supports) but got there in the end. Early days but I'm very happy with the bed. Thanks for a great video!! EDIT.... it's also great to see you answer questions raised. So many don't.
@almac1714 Same here, I'm fifty five but feel eighty. I put the Ascot frame bed up on my own kudos to you doing the ottoman bed. Hope you like it. I just hope mine holds my weight lol 🌹

You could probably stand at the bottom of the bed on the sides and lift up the ottoman bit. Easier if one on each side.

Thanks so much for the super helpful video. Your bedroom looks gorgeous. I am in a rental apt atm and it's got a shockingly creaky cheap ottoman bed. I am sleeping terribly. Was considering buying the Ascot to replace it and wondered how yours was faring up esp with the creak factor or whether I should just buy the standard Ascot.

Once all in I tightened them yes. Just easier to line them all up.

Thanks for the video. My bed came without instructions, and the bolts i have are different to the ones on the instructions on their website. Can you add pictures of your instructions if you still have them.
Does the ottoman have a base ? where you put the black cover or does it go directly onto the floor?

Thank you for the video. I’m stuck on step 4. I’ve managed to put the bolts on but I can’t move the mechanism up and down.
Im doing step 4 right now haha im stuck on it too!
How odd? Mine just lifted up ? It’s not secured down with something ?
Literally just had the same issue - get two people and one either side of the frame push down really hard - you just need to get the mechanism going a few times!

Thanks for this helpful video.. I’ve also ordered the bed in grey. I bought 3 of the mohair throws based on your review, but my house is now full of fluff as they appear to shed. Have you found that also?
How odd, mine have never shed? Unless they’ve changed them, had mine for a couple of years. I have washed mine a few times.

It is very easy to lift with the gas lift yes

Hi the weight of items in the storage bit will probably be very light as it’s just some cloth in the storage compartment? Will it come apart with heavier items like shoes, bags, extra bedding towels?
Mine is rammed with lots of heavy items. It’s pretty thick, I don’t think it will come apart. Not unless you are taking thinks in and out every day ?
Did you find when you removed slats the fixing broke?? Im goin try and get replacements (the black inserts) for the slats only a few broken when i tried to remove 😔
I haven’t tried to remove slats? No idea I’m afraid.
Do you know what the maximum weight of the mattress is of this bed (for lifting the Ottoman mechanism)? I could not find any info online on it.

Hi Kirsty, ow you have had the bed for a couple of months, would you say that it is still holding up to your 5 on quality and no creek factor? I was looking on the site yesterday but want to feel confident the beds are not poorly made
Still going strong. Not noticed any change in the bed.
Hi Kristy, is the bed’s mechanism too difficult to push down at first? We couldn’t manage to push it down afraid that it would break down.
You need to have the mattress on top , the extra weight helps it go down. Without it’s difficult

The black cover does it go directly onto the floor for ottoman storage or there a base which you placed the black cover over??
The black fabric just sits in the floor and secures on.

Quick question, what do the angle corner brackets on the headboard do? As the side rails only rest on the angle corner brackets on the footboard, and nothing is resting on the angle corner brackets on the headboard

Sorry, I don’t really understand what bit you mean ?
@kirstygriffiths749 you know where the headboard meets the sides of the bed, at those 2 headboard - side of bed corners we are asked to attach 2 angle corner brackets. There are also 2 more for the footboard and side of bed corners.....but the bed metal frame that raises up and down, rest on the 2 bottom footboard - side of bed, corner angle brackets but nothing rest on the 2 that connect the headboard to the side of the bed.
Which I found strange unless they are only there for side support?
You notice it when you close the bed frame and see that the bottom part of the frame rest on the bottom angle brackets and the top part of the frame is just floating above the angle corner brackets at the headboard.
You demonstrate the brackets at 8:10.

Doesn’t say how many pocket springs are in the mattress great video fantastic video I ordered a mattress of dusk 2000 pocket springs and memory foam but have to say the mattress you linked looks like its got a lot more in it i also ordered an optimum bed from dusk same colour but with the fabric design and them button holes on the head board you reckon it will be worth the money i got the 25 of using a code cost me £598 for the bed and mattress what are your views again wonderful video and i was worried about dusk as never heard of them before but this video has put my mind at rest thanks

No worries. I store all my bags and out of season clothes with no issue.
Ok, thanks, I was worried they’d literally be on the floor if the Velcro isn’t strong enough and have been considering how to adapt my base using MDF sheets and brackets as well as some small feet for stability

We've been sleeping with the mattress on the floor for months because our last bed creaked so badly and we've been so undecided on which bed to buy next!!

Can you remove the fabric to clean or cover, especially the headboard? Fabric going to show marks very quickly.
No, you can’t remove the fabric. We lean against cushions so never get marks on the headboard.
What do you use too clean the headboard with?
I’ve not had to clean it really. I usually dust and hoover it.

Loops around the end. Tbf I lift it up with two hands on the frame.

Ordered the same bed in a double blush pink (dont judge its for a teen) with their hybrid mattress as got £50 off the set, in the end was about £550 inc delivery. Mine is on a preorder so looking at 1st week of April. Ordered a black round dining table from these guys (this weekends job) How long did it take you to build ? I have subscribed xx
I took me just over an hour and a half to build. But, I had to keep moving the camera around. I always build everything myself, much less stressful 😂 the pink sounds gorgeous 💕

Is anyone else having issues with Step 4, because the end of the piston that is meant to hook on to the lifting mechanism is at an angle and therefore can’t be hooked on. Would appreciate any help with this as I’m completely stuck !
Do you need to open up the bed base ( remove straps) then it does like up ?
@@kirstygriffiths749 No that's not the issue - It's the piston itself does not twist in the way it should
Yeah I’m having the same issue! 3/4 of the sides are in the correct position to put my screws & bracket onto, but the fourth (top left corner of the bed) is angled so the bracket won’t screw into the headboard. Bizarre but definitely can’t be how it’s meant to be assembled as the bracket then is no longer flat
We have just assembled our bed and noticed when putting the frame down with the hydraulics, it won't stay down, put a mattress on top and it did. Why is that?

The first time it was a bit stiff. Have you got the mattress on? The weight of the mattress helps pull it down ?
I had put the mattress on and then the mattress I had before and then I climbed on it and eventually it started to move 😂😂😂 I love it. Thank you.
To get the bed down do you just push down on it?
Yes. Make sure the mattress is on it.
