I've been on a concert of daughter last week. Three years later she's still the same kind of cute and awkward like in the video. When they played the song "Smother" her guitar was tuned very wrong so they stopped playing to tune it right. After the third try everybody was quiet and waiting for the music to start. I really felt how awkward she felt. She excused a lot and I was like 'pleeease stop excusing or I'm going to kill myself for being such a mean listener'. But when she finally tuned it right everybody was clapping and some were screaming and whistling. After every applause she smiled shy like she wouldnt deserve it. When I stood in the very front of the crowd I also saw how she were looking at Igor while singing special lines speaking about loving someone. It truely broke my heart. Igor that lucky bastard :( I really hope that they gonna stay at this kind of music and beautiful lyric and will not transform into a pop band by getting more and more famous.
Not anymore as already mentioned, what's interesting is that the band is taking a break currently to focus on their personal lives. I don't hint anything, it's none of our business in the end. I just want them to be alright and make music.
Spot on, hes being super disrespectful in my opinion and not feeling how he should be... needs to go bavk to interviewing school.. did tou read the blurb? "Talks about the need to write sad songs for her own emotions: (paraphrased) except he pretty much put those words in her mouth, she was clearly just beong polite.... why does this make me sooo angry!!! Ha
its like listening to Elena having a session with a psychologist..:tell me why do you like sad songs? BECAUSE WE, a special group of people carry the weight of the world and we feel it emotionally..its called emotional intelligence, its hurts but music like daughter's makes me feel ecstatic-especially amsterdam
I actually think this is a great interview. He really delves deep into who she is and what motivates her in life and to write the music she does. And that's exactly what I want to hear, because her lyrics are so gut-wrenchingly real and painful, so I, for one, am wondering what she is all about.
+Milonification I felt the same way, I had the same thought thats how I ended up here. But I could relate to her when she said she feels comforted by sad music. What I wonder is, I feel like she's been through some sort of pain, to bring forth such a strong lyric. Also her presence and her endeavor seems so gentle and mysterious, like she has a story she doesn't tell, but through her own way of doing it.
Ugh right now I'm so ashamed to be Dutch! She is amazing and the interviewer is Dutch, I can hear the accent. Such a shame! Love her with lyrics and all
+Maria Alejandra How so? I mean I did feel she was slightly uncomfortable. Either that's how she is as a person or the interviewer was an uncomfortable company. idk LOL but still, I really did love her interview. I could really relate to her when she said "sad songs is comforting to her, and that it's of home when she listens to melancholic music. :) that whys I love her music.
The Elena personality deserved a better or more appropriate interviewer, pshhh thanks for sticking Elena, your work as Daughter is great !! Keep it up !
I mean yeah I think he was making her uncomfortable at times but I wouldn't say it was awful necessarily. I mean I think he was genuine and honestly interested in her and her music but which counts for something I guess in my book even if the execution wasn't necessarily there.
she comes across as a lovely and down to earth person. Love her cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky. I prefer it to the original. That is a rare to achieve.
Interesting. Ok. She's an enigma. And her and the guys are already cult status if you ask me. I find it very peculiar though how everyone is trashing ye olde interviewer when I was coming to sing his praises hahaha. One person actually said he sounds like a therapist so I guess that's why I loved it lmao because I am a professional counselor! Anyway. As a student of Life, I study everybody, and needless to say Elena is a fav of mine and these questions fascinates me and I can't wait to hear the rest. That's all.
+citylife313 I actually liked his questions. I mean, I think Elena has a very deep and peculiar personality, like you said. I mean, not everybody sees and understands that certain people really do feel at home listening to "sad" music. It brings them to an ease. For me, I need sadness in my life to remind me to keep moving forward. Sometimes reminding myself to always be happy, sometimes makes me feel a bit empty inside. So i put myself in a state where I can remember why, i am where I am. Why I must keep moving forward. :)
i like that you dug deep in this interview to really understand where she was coming from and why she said what she said, sadly thats a rare quality in interviews these days
Sounds like a Dutch interviewer. If I were to interview I would probably make it a little less heavy weighted. Vary serious topics and following with humor. But I guess that if there were things she really didn't want to tell, she wouldn't have.
I think the interviewer is dutch, i can tell cus im dutch and he had a typical accent. I dont think he was being rude, dutch people just often have a very direct approach and a tad of broken english didnt mix well with it
Really? I actually quite like the interviewer. I feel interviewers who are brave enough to ask these types of more personal questions are quite rare. Usually interviews are filled with the same questions just repeated over and over :)
Haha, the interview looked bad right from the start. I mean, why did they let her sit down in the front of a window where all the light shines straight onto the camera? It doesn't even look good, so you couldn't tell it's for the visual effect :D Then - as others already mentioned - the interviewer sounds like some random guy passing by, knowing not what to ask and how to make it interesting... Well, no wonders she looks so uncomfortable.
I want to hug her

Are they (Elena and Igor) a couple?
I'm Foty Yeah, they used to date but they broke up a couple years ago. Not sure exactly when it was that they broke up.
Not anymore as already mentioned, what's interesting is that the band is taking a break currently to focus on their personal lives. I don't hint anything, it's none of our business in the end. I just want them to be alright and make music.
I feel like im watching myself, i feel so close to her in spiritual level
This interview reminds me of when a kid just keeps saying 'why?' after every explanation.
Lol'd hard at this.
Haha that was very funny

she's very lovely and shy, and a grate musician,
She is so right in what she is saying about sad music, I can completely relate, I love sad music
She's so shy, tis adorable, almost like she doesn't know how talented she is
her natural voice is the same singing voice, sounds so lovely and heavenly I fucking adore her!!
saw her last night at end of the road and though i liked her before i am now a SUPER FAN. Candles makes me cry like no other song!!!!!!!!!!
She reminds me of me when she talks, mind going off in directions, slight awkwardness.
She is so precious, adorable and beautiful. I love to see her smile
Omigosh, what an Adorable Human!
She is so soft spoken and seemingly shy...I love it.
She's so awkward haha I love her.
I love her voice and accent, so soft 😻
i love her so much as i want to cry and hug her
Omg she is BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️
2019
Elena is so lovely!
Ugh right now I'm so ashamed to be Dutch! She is amazing and the interviewer is Dutch, I can hear the accent. Such a shame! Love her with lyrics and all
I'm dutch too I hear it as well haha
this interview makes me uncomfortable, i cant imagine how bad it must have been for her

Why you oddball?
The interviewer sucks, but she´s so cute and beautiful :3 :)
she's adorable!
The Elena personality deserved a better or more appropriate interviewer, pshhh thanks for sticking Elena, your work as Daughter is great !! Keep it up !
She's so precious and beautiful.
This interviewer is awful, poor Elena. I could tell he was making her uncomfortable, lmao.
I mean yeah I think he was making her uncomfortable at times but I wouldn't say it was awful necessarily. I mean I think he was genuine and honestly interested in her and her music but which counts for something I guess in my book even if the execution wasn't necessarily there.
He sounds like interviewer from casting couch
I agree, there's just too many deeply personal questions and Elena is very reticent, so it's not creating the ideal atmosphere.
Elena is the most beautiful person in the world. Inside and out.
She's so lovely
I love her and her music 💕
i like that you added two hearts as well
one for her, and one for the music
she's so beauty
I love the way she skips eye contacting. Somehow she reminds me of me on public lol
Her eyes are beautiful, also like her haircut is cute too.
Oh she is so introverted and adorable.
she comes across as a lovely and down to earth person. Love her cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky. I prefer it to the original. That is a rare to achieve.
She is so lovely, Daughters whole body off work makes me 'feel' that's real music that can do that.
I feel like I can relate myself with her
Gotta love this woman.....
pretty sure im related to her ahha
she is awkward andbeautiful

Ok, I fell in love ❤️
We are sorry to hear that. How would you like to see us improve? What questions would you have asked?
She is SO cute!
i like that you dug deep in this interview to really understand where she was coming from and why she said what she said, sadly thats a rare quality in interviews these days
I'm in love
Elena tonra 💕

the interviewer sucks
The surname is the Anglicised version of the Irish surname O Tomhrair!
How did they meet? What!? An innappropriote question for an interview
Wait why? You guys seem to be so sterile.
Why? That's a perfectly normal question and she was perfectly happy to answer. Chill the eff out.
Gah.....she is just stunning.
i kinda love her so cute
Elena is actually me but just with a different upbringing. I feel like that can be said probably for a lot of people.
I like her :)
totally agree with her.that's why i love her lyrics, voice, nothing about her i dnt like
We love her here in Ukraine! ))
🥺
The interviewer has such a strong Dutch accent
Sei dolcissima Elena ❤️ vieni in Italia a suonare ? Amo i daughter
I think the interviewer is dutch, i can tell cus im dutch and he had a typical accent. I dont think he was being rude, dutch people just often have a very direct approach and a tad of broken english didnt mix well with it
And her family is from Ireland she just gets more perfect
Really? I actually quite like the interviewer. I feel interviewers who are brave enough to ask these types of more personal questions are quite rare. Usually interviews are filled with the same questions just repeated over and over :)
and spell her name right please, thnks
i like how she talk i know she go left and right .....but thats cute XD
she is cool as fuck too
What the hell is wrong with the interviewer? Go home dude...
i wish i could just look at her at a distance
ELENA HIHIHIHIH
elena tonra ;)
i dislike the interviewer, i love elena
That horrible Dutch accent tho
She is cute :-)
Isaac Wilkins
i love her. but personally i find that sad music makes it worse
why tf is he asking her about her parents rather than asking her about her own self and her music preference etc...
het nederlands accent van de interviewer is wel grappig
She wants to date all of you, that will make her so stoked :/
Haha, the interview looked bad right from the start. I mean, why did they let her sit down in the front of a window where all the light shines straight onto the camera? What a bad interviewer! Felt sorry for her
Such a terrible interviewer for such a great person.
stupid questions for an introvert inspired artist, and disconnected questions
God the whole interview sounds like talking to a psychiatrist......
