Skeeter Davis should be in the Country Music Hall Of Fame!!!
She should indeed. ❤
She’s not ? 😢
She's not in the Country Music Hall of Fame, however, she is in Heaven with God!
I just love her. I watch her sing this and cry and cry.
She’s one of the best. 🎶
Same. She is a badass lady.
the ending is really sad. Thank you for doing this!
The end is sad 😞. Thanks for the support!!!
Man I miss her because she was almost like a spiritual grandmother that I never had. R.I.P. to her and her sister. She died a day before my 12th birthday. 😢🙏
Skeeter Davis was a wonderful gem
She sure was!
When my mother passed away on 2015....the next morning i felt exactly the way this song describes....back then i could not understand hiw everyone went on as if nothing had happened....in my despair....years later after i had proceseed my mothers death i heard this song in my sleep....i woke up to google it...and i was awaked to the fact that someone else had felt exactly as i had....this song is a photograph of that moment...edit you can see my mothers photo next to my name along w. My father.
Mrs. Cruz you’re mother was drop dead (no pun intended) gorgeous. She’s in heaven now! This song makes me tear up! Just like that song by The Commodores - Jesus Is Love!
I saw her in Kalamazoo in 1965. My very first concert at 4 years old. She had a little puppy on her lap. I have never forgotten as I am now 61 years old.
Wow. How I would wish to see her in person. That must of been a dream come true.
@@musicrocksoffical she was so kind and she sat outside the auditorium with her little puppy on her lap. She was very kind. I was 4 years old. My step dad worked at Gibson guitar.
Skeeter Davis was a wonderful gem.

Back around 1974.. the buzz going around the school that day, was that a famous American music star named "Skeeter Davis" was in town and planned to come out to our school for a visit. hopefully, with enough encouragement, maybe she would perform a few numbers for us! Late in the afternoon about 4:00, several Komby's arrived in the parking lot. (a Komby was a Volkswagen bus that's been painted with Zebra stripes) very common in those days for taking Safaris through the game parks of East Africa. It was nearly dark when we got the word that she was willing to sing a few songs for us. So approximately 35 students and a few teachers gathered on the lawn. She'd only got to sing one and a half songs, before the all power went out !! She started laughing and apologized for "the shortest show on Earth" It was all fine thou, everyone had a great time just sitting around in the dark for an hour or so and talked with her. I wish I could remember why she came to Moshi International School in Tanzania, East Africa. The small city of Moshi, was a launching point for folks who came to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, I wonder if she climbed that mountain ?
Wow! Thank you for your storytelling and lots of information!
God rest your soul in peace " Your missed, Hamisi Dale Tanzania East Africa
I remember that song Don't Say know its the End of the World. Yes! Wow, this is such a great song. You are doing such a great job at narrating.
Thanks! This was from like 10 months ago. Haha. My voice has changed so much since then. 😂
@@musicrocksoffical I know it was old. That is what I do sometimes with people I subscribe to. I like to go in the past. hahahahahahahaha
this is so sad at the end. great video

She was a great singer . Country music is not the same now
Cry Me a River is a Jazz song but, I see someone else made into a difference genre. I Will Follow Him I remember that one as well.
I love this.

Thank you!
My dad listened to her albums, and I became a huge fan. Rest in Peace Skeeter.
What a great talent!
I loved Skeeter Davis since she came on the scene. She I listed to yet today and will until I die. She sang with Bobby Bare also...Bobby never made a bad record...never.
I learned something by watching this video and my heart was touched. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Loved this song since I first heard

My pleasure!
She also did a duet 'Dear John' with Bobby Bare and has released 2 popular LP2 together. " Tunes For Two" was very popular.
I enjoy that LP a lot.

I love that hat she has on.
I am singing as I listen.
Sounds, as if she had an influence on Karen Carpenter- very similar singing style
Tammy Wynette was influenced by Skeeter.
❤❤❤😢
Wow
She was a great singer!
❤❤❤❤
Her speaking voice sounds like Dusty Springfield`s- but their accent is different
I agree.
Why is her 1963 hit ‘I Can’t Stay Mad at You’ not mentioned?😮😮
Yeah. Didn’t mention that one. Still one of her biggest!
I loved that song also!

Please do better with the info. Skeeter didn't suffer, "minor accidents" she barely pulled through after 6 months of recovery. Learn your facts, dude. Thanks.
Sorry that you are displeased.
@musicrocksoffical It's fine because I corrected you. The accident had a huge impact on Skeeter, affecting her mentally for years, not something to be downplayed.
Ralph Emory treated Skeeter like shit!.
He did. Ha. She was out of his league, so it didn’t matter anyway!
It mattered to her,you sorry piece of shit.He was out of her league. Maybe, someone should beat, belittle, your momma, wife,or child, wouldn't matter anyway.
He was a control freak ! He abused her horribly ! He was another Colonel Parcker ! In it for the Money and over Blown
Ego Trip !ymom never forgot her dearest friends Skeeter was Sutch a sweety ! Great talent and Hard working artist ! Ss LL the galls were in that little group of Country's dre folks of traditional
Femail Singers and Song Writers ! My mom was the first of the galls to Nartie and have a child so very young in her life !
This wonderful artist decided to put on a show at Fireman's Park in the tiny little town of Fredericksburg PA, way back around 1976. I'm not exactly sure of the year. We lived right across the highway from the park so I could hear the show from our house! I wish I could remember more from that time, but I can't. If there is anyone out there that remembers the show, please feel free to comment.
