I really enjoyed hearing you talk about your journey, I’m like you and did some time, raised by a single mom, and took inspiration from my grandpa who raised me. I guess you could say I’m a functioning alcoholic and drug user, it gives me hope that you kicked it.. I could kick it. I’m not in the gutter and have a pretty good job, but it’s hard to shake I guess you could call it my cruch.
You made me think cause I’m in my 60’s, I can’t keep doing what I’m doing.
Peace brother, thanks for the reality check.🙂

Jim I had a cardiac arrest and stroke 5 years ago and am permanently disabled. Listening to your podcast is what look forward to every week. I truly became a believer in Jesus during the NDE I had when I was dead for at least 45 minutes. I’m blessed to have this second chance at my soul being saved 🙏🏼😘
Thank you for everything you do 😊❤

I’m only commenting on the beginning part about your dad (the rest is awesome too!!) but Jim…what a model you are of loving your dad so well.
ALL parents need to be loved so well.
    Good for you, friend. 👍🏼

Love how you shine that light, Jim. Always putting the spotlight on great, positive people who've experienced hard times, and finally awaken because of several strange "coincidences", or Synchronicities, really! Thanks Jim!👍💯🙏✌️

When we find ourselves in a pit of despair there might be many ropes of hope thrown to us, but we only see a few and choose just one to grab. For today, I've got a hold of this one and I'm grateful for it. Thanks Jim.

What an awesome and inspiring show. You gotta get Thomas back on sometime Jim. You guys seem like you could have some great talks. I really liked hearing his story. He reminded me of my grandfather who raised me while my parents worked. He was a WW2 vet with 2 purple hearts and a cop for many years until he flipped his patrol car cause he was always drunk. His first wife left him and he never got to raise his 2 boys. He was my mom's step dad. He and my grandma found each other late in life not long before she passed away. He got himself together when he met her. She died right before I was born and I was born on his birthday. I think I was his second chance. He told me I was a present from her and from God on his birthday because he said she knew how lonely he'd be without her so they sent me for him to love and take care of. And he did. We don't always know where God is taking us but we all have a purpose here. And in my opinion the best purpose is caring for each other. Thanks for sharing these great conversations Jim. And thanks Thomas for sharing your journey. Amazing. God bless 🙏

Thank you for sharing such a moving story. It affected me as I saw some parallels. When I was 10 my dad got remarried and I was in a tux on top of the the bar serving drinks while getting hammered on screwdrivers. I am now 52 and have been sober for 12 years. You met a real angel in that girl who supported you getting clean. Way to go getting sober, must have been hell. For some people just quitting is not enough, as they need help to uncover the underlying cause of their addictions. I am not saying you need to join AA but it might be a good idea to sit down and work through the stuff that got you drinking in the first place. You need to find a mentor to help you, someone with long term sobriety.

"The world isn't what you thought it was"....on the one hand it's a little scary as a private citizen that there are people in uniform with the right to arrest you, on the other hand I give so much thanks and gratitude for our cops who do all the stuff no ordinary citizen would ever dare to do and often with potential risks involved. They should always be treated with love and respect whenever possible. I remember when I stayed in Astoria, Queens, NY a while back just getting chatting to a cop in a bar one night and he was a cool dude.

Jim, you need to create some kind of reality show. Kind of like when Gordon Ramsey goes in and fixes a failing restaurant, but more Breueresque. Keep it kinda podcasty, but interactive with inspirational guests, like Mr. Gabriel. Find a way to find people who need help and then help them. Perhaps you could invite Christians on to discuss current events with a Biblical perspective?

You can take this with a grain of salt, but every word is true. January rolls around, and I need new tires. I can only afford one, so I hop on a website, check out all the tires feeling confident about it, and I order one. Later that night, I hear in my head that quiet little voice that has saved my ass numerous times throughout my 4+ decades of life say, "You need to go out and check your tires." My response was, yeah it's dark out right now, I'll do it the morning. The voice repeats the message. I DON'T LISTEN. Of course, come morning I completely forget to check the tires, then proceed on my merry way to get the new one. As soon as I get outta the damn car, the SIZE of the tire is blaring at me. Sonofabitch! I bought the wrong size, 19" instead of 18". Fortunately, they had a tire in stock for around the same price. THAT is the LAST time I will EVER ignore that voice.
