    I bought one here in Australia 3 weeks ago and I just love the way it feels. I am a big lad, 6'4" and 120kg. But the thing handles fantastically after some suspension adjustments. The brakes get better with mileage too. Turns heads as well which is a bonus!

    FYI full exhaust system isn't all steel, The end can is Titanium, and the very best thing u can do when buying an MT10? Dont spend $1,600 on a full Akra,..order a $130 DanMoto cat delete y-pipe before even picking yours up. (Don't spend $375 on a Termignoni, u can't see a difference or hear one over a danmoto) Takes a half hour to install, REMOVES 32lbs of cat weight and best part is what it does. Actual MotoGP soundtrack!!! Don't change the end can, titanium R1 end can with a internal larger diameter than an Akra GP.
    Like Chris said, there is a lack of feel (COMPARED TO A APRILIAS Brembos) BUT their DO ALWAS STOP YOU! The power is there just lacking feel. Change to EBC or other race pads and it was night and day for me! It's NOT needed but when I did the cat delete, I thought well I'm shedding 32lbs, took out the 5lb. Motor and cables for the exhaust valve while at it,..so. May as well get a race filter . Then thought well it's pulled apart , may as well mail the ECU to NelsTune, THE crossplane 4 tuner, I had i back 5 days from when I mailed it!!! You tell them what mods you've done, "GYTR race filter, DanMoto y-pipe" Factory can, live at 6,500ft of elevation. And they flash in the best tune possible for that set up, THE can remove codes, turned off the check engine light the 'tis only on becuse the exhaust valve is t working becuse it's gone lol, some states make the check engine on for cat removal, so can delete that. , raise the rev range, and remove the governor. The incease AM had. A higher tip soeed that 155 lol plug the ecu in fire up do a quick easy ride and instantly I knew it was serious . Stock form out accelerates a superduke R to 60mph,..at the now 182hp (crank) it was rediculius!!! Truthefully was not needed but paying g $9,200 us NEW at half the cost of a superduke I decided to add $560 of parts and flash to see what it would do where I saved sO much money over the SDR or a Tuono Facotry and the results were beyond superduke performance, MotoGP sound (don't disagree is u haven't hear one with cat removed). The reliability was AMAYING! Owned 2 years , did. 1,500+ mile trips comfortably and LOVED cruise control, rode it year round , snow in utahs Rocky Mountains to summers of 110+ , not one single problem , the UA-cam pros saying they
    Won't buy becuse it's a new model were stupid. Becaue it's 95% an R1, lol was already proven , just de-tuning it which increases reliability. Largest dealerbnetwork on earth, the crossplane 4 has been used by Yamaha since 2009 so parts are everywhere., the crossplane 4 motor has a lifespan 4 times longer than Aprilia or KTMs twin and v4! Look around and shop, I found my MT10 2 weeks after launch from a dealer selling it cheaper than a new mt09!!!! Buy the half priced to SDR MT10 , if you are very very experienced or comming from KTM, do the $550 upgrades and you will never be bored!!!! I had a $144 a month payment. Full coverage insurance for $29 a month. Of the 16 supersports of 26 years of riding I've owned,..my first ever Supernaked is by far the most fun , least expense , reliable, head turning, best exhaust note wheelie monster , most comfortable bike I've owned! Best money spent on a bike!!!! Paying twice that for a name didn't make sense to me. I was debating between a 2017 Tuono factory, and a 2017 Superduke R and becaue of the cost of the MT10 , having owned a crossplane 2015 R1 which I LOVED , a Supernaked version seemed too good to be true, so decided worse case I buy and don't like so I sell. Never once regretted or wished I'd bought the king of nakeds. The 2016 and 2017 Yamaah mt10 was bike if the year across the Bords Both years, even beyond the new SDR and the Tuono Factory 1100! It won naked and Supernaked comprisons and shootouts all over the place over twice priced exotics. A game changer. In fact it was so good, I had to sell for a divorce and in looking for my next bike , am I going superduke where I've owned the MT10 for 2 years already? Nope, in going to buy a NEW 2018 mt10. Dealers all over the US stil have new 2018's with no miles, full Factory warrantys and inane prices to get rid of old inventory. 2018 the added THE quickshifter and many had the comfort seat. A couple ecu updates and electronics updates. I've seen new 2018s for less than $8,500US. If considering a new bike, or buying a hypernaked euro king. Do yourself a favor and test ride an MT10 I promise u u willl be supervised!!!

    I have both the FZ9 and the FZ10 2017, both bought at the same time and basically with the same miles on both, I don't have issues with the brakes on either, in fact the FZ10's brakes feel very solid. I barely have to use any force to come to a complete stop from high speed. Not sure if the US version is much different than the Europe version but that is just my experience.

    Chris u were spot on with this, some disagreed, but the facts were the performance numbers proved the half priced MT10 made it a Supernaked. It out accelerates both the superduke R and Tuono Factory . The suspension is fully adjustable. Has a great electronics package, 4 modes ABS , 4 modes of traction control., wheelie control and 3 throttle modes. The gaxs1000, cb1000R, z900 dropped the ball there. They killed it here!

  • @landrus
    @landrus 8 років тому

    On the brakes, yes when you brake them in a bit, they get better. My colleague also exchanged the pads for more aggressive racing pads and I will exchange the brake lines with steel brake lines, which should also help.
    Other than that, I can confirm this is a hell of a bike :)

  • @user-zu8jt5tw3j

    A good flash of the ecu will remove EVERY bit of that throttle "snatchy-ness". Here in the states that runs about $300. TOTALLY transforms this into a different bike. Add's 25-30whp but feels like much, much more!

    This is the bike that has got me off my 20+ year addiction to sports bikes; I agree the brakes are a bit mushy, however EBC pads in a GSXR 750 K6 feel worse, but you get used to them.
    All I know is, I haven't laughed as much on a bike as when I test rode the MT 10. Fun at vaguely sensible speeds, unlike the Gixer (and every other sport bike). I'm probably in the minority - I like the tail light as it looks as angular and freakish as the rest of the bike. Freakish is a good thing - those Italian exotica remind me of all the wannabe hipsters out there. (I really must eat that chip on my shoulder :))
    And they're playing the ghey thing - FFS, stupid people, wise up suckers.

    Hello Baron/Fagan and everyone else. I rode the MT10 (as well as the 07 and 09). My question is do you think Yamaha should make a sports bike using the MT10 engine? I think an MT10 with more wind protection and more sporty geometry would be even more epic on the road. I have not ridden a GSXR1000 yet but they are supposed to be comfortable enough for long trips so that kind of sporty comfort but with torque instead of revvy power. And yes, I am aware of the R1 but that is too much for me for the road in terms of power and cost, insurance etc. Go easy on me if this sounds like a stupid idea because I am a new rider!

    I currently own a 1290 Superduke which I absolutely love but by next year it will be 4 yrs so I am seriously thinking to change it & the MT 10 could have been the answer. I have ridden it 4 times & dynamically it's a great bike except maybe for the brakes they are a little wooden but I could live with that. Unfortunately there are 2 reasons why I probably wont buy one. 1-the looks, sorry Yam but for me it doesn't work but I realise beauty is in the eye of the beholder but what really does it for me especially for a flagship model 2 - is the detail & finish. The cables around the headstock are a mess as are the 2 cables running down the exhaust side at the front of the engine & some of the plastic looks really cheap & flimsy. Sorry Yam I really want to like it but it's difficult in fact I think the MT 09 is a nicer looking & finished bike(my son has one). Yam have recently had great success with their MT range but I think they have shot themselves in the foot with the MT 10 & should have made it a little more expensive to improve the quality.

  • @MrRadialdrift

    They have a good job on the styling. I wouldn't say it is the best looking super naked but good on them for at least trying something different. Compared to what Honda and Suzuki are making, which are the most boring looking bikes, it is nice to see Yamaha and Kawasaki having a crack.

    • @prndownload
      @prndownload 8 років тому

      In all fairness the Honda was released around 2008/9 and IMO at the time seemed more radical looking than the MT10 does now. A super naked without a single sided swing arm is a crime!

      Jim Ferguson The 2008 honda cbr1000rr in black and yellow was one of the best looking super sports bikes IMO. But in general I agree that they need some more classy looking euro style angled bikes in their lineup. I've been waiting for an updated cb1000r since I test rode one in 2009.

    It didn't feel as punchy down low as MT-09 when I test rode it but then again I didn't really have the space and time to push it that hard. Granted it's a much better ride than MT-09, the suspension is miles ahead and it actually felt lighter at low speed. I'm kinda in between getting this bike or keeping the 09. I bet with an aftermarket exhaust and a tune the 09 isn't that far behind, at least on maniac factor. You would gain about 10 hp and 10 nm. And lose over 5 kg of weight from a bike that weighs less than 180kg wet already. I just can't shake my mind that the MT-10 isn't really much faster than MT-09. Not before 200 at least. What do you guys think? Quite a dilemma here...

      I've actually just placed an order for trading in my '17 MT09 for an MT10.
      I had renthal low fatbars on MT09 and I was able to ride fast keeping up with 600's all day in the corners even with stock suspension.
      I was about to drop cash into new forks, shock and brake setup but I've decided to trade it for the MT10.
      The MT09 can hang with a 600 supersport until about 160kmh and then you can't keep ground.
      The MT10 will blast just about most bikes out of its way being a proper big bike in naked form.
      Just food for thought.

      yeah even Suzuki have Kawasaki finally put them on the ZX10R. I would rather pay a bit more for the bike and get decent brakes "Brembo's"
