Thank you so much!!! I have been watching videos about gel printing for weeks... I have spent HOURS... and this is the first time anyone has explained opacity vs transparency such that it makes TOTAL sense. Many, many thanks!!!
wow who ever thought to actually READ a paint container!? thank/bless u for this! 🙋💐 [my exp w. gel plates is that back in '85 i was blessed to be living in tokyo... and bought for cheap a little plastic red frame GLUED IN gelly... to make 3x5 card prints and greeting cards. i had some fun w, thought i should use more & the next thing i know it's 2020 and the dang thing has exploded! great tool, love ur use of! 🙋💐🎶thanks... 🙌🙏🙌
That was the right information for me ! My prints would be much better if i used the transparency and opacity of the paint, but als the possibility of repositioning the masks or stencils gives huge possibillities. Thanks for this great video.
Thanks so much for this video! I found it extremely helpful to see examples of the different ways to use transparent/opaque paints together. It also explained why my prints may not have turned out the way I thought they would! 🤓
I just find you, and this video is fantastic! I need to save it to watch it again, so useful! I’m a beginner to gel prints and this helps so much. Thank you.
So inspiring, I just love them all but the black paper makes such interesting prints! I just can’t get over how many things you can do on a gelli plate, I am new to this tool and I love it! Thanks for an awesome video!💕🇨🇦
Thank y9u Marsha for this. Lovely prints. I really appreciated the info about transparent and opaque paints. I wish someone would have mentioned it before.
Great information. I've been trying to figure out which paint brands offer the widest selections in viscosity and transparency. I bought acrylic high viscosity paint recently from Michael's, Artists Loft, since they had a couple of transparent colors that I wanted. Unfortunately I'm finding it to be very difficult to work with no matter if I water it down a bit or add matte medium. It just doesn't roll out on the plate very well. I might be spoiled since I previously purchased Golden brand Phthalo Blue which is very easy to work with but expensive. I'm also finding the inexpensive craft paints at Michael's such as FolkArt to be surprisingly easy to work with on gel plates.
Great video, came for the opacity part because I want to partially cover an old drawing, just really wondering what brand that adhesive is and where you get it... (Hihi... Recept voor raapstelen 🤭🤭🤣)
Thanks Judith! I don’t have a favourite brand, however I do like student or professional grade paints. If by Dylusions you mean the paint then: yes! If you mean the sprays then the answer is yes, but with a twist. There’s a video by Birgit on this channel about using sprays. Let me see if I can find it.
You pull a print @5:57 that appears to have a large pair of slightly opened lips just below & to the right of the top circle mask & just above yet parallel to the bottom mask. This is the 2nd time today I watched a video & could CLEARLY make out an image that was so organic on production that those who produced them had no idea lol I hope other ppl can see what I see otherwise I may legit be losing my mind lol
So, judging by the “opaque” colors you use here, there are no completely opaque paint colors, although Titan Green Pale and Teal (both Golden) may be as close as you can get. And by the “squares” on the paint tubes, do you mean the rectangles? One tube had a square and a rectangle, so … ?
This is one of the best explanations of how to get the effects you want using transparent or opaque.
Wow wow wow!!!! I've never seen anyone break down opacity like this, very useful!!!!! Thanks so much for doing this for us, wow!!!
So glad you liked it!
Thank you for being so clear about which colors are opaque, translucent, etc. in each example. Very helpful!

Great video, as per usual. I really like the way Marsha used the differing opacities of the paints and simple masks to create abstract landscapes.
Thanks so much Pila!
Belle démonstration, ludique et pédagogique! Merci pour votre partage!

Fantastic tutorial, really enjoyed the video.
I love this channel! So cool.
Love this. What was the "tape" you used to adhere the masks? Thx.
Hi Rick, In the video I use a repositionable adhesive dot roller. However, any temporary adhesive will do. Even a folded loop of washi tape!
Love your process! I’m curious what you used to tack your masks to your paper?
This is an absolutely fabulous video! Thank you!
Really great video, thank you so much for this clear info on paints and viscosity! 👏
Glad to hear it was helpful for you!
Prachtig Marsha, dank je!

Great !!! Voice-over would be more easy, because you can't watch and read at the same time. Greetings from Germany :-)
Thanks Monique!
wow toll
Wow❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
heel interessant dan U
Totally nails the conundrum...why some of the consequences of a pull bring joy and sorrow.! Read the label. Learn about the tube of paint first!
