    I rewatched this video after watching a video about the Burmese vendor. James I loved that you took the opportunity to try cuisines that are hard to find and also to have a taste of cuisines you haven't tried. I doubt the jerk chicken was worth the line. Jerk chicken is so easy to find and there are probably better versions at restaurants. It is is a shame the night market is only 1 day per week. When I saw the amount of work that went into preparation for the Burmese vendor and all the equipment needed I feel like it would be more profitable if it were twice a week.

      Indeed! I'm sure most of the vendors there are great, but the market is a fine opportunity to try something new, and I'm glad I made a stop at that Burmese spot.

      @@Jamesnu Please consider doing a follow up video or even making it an annual tradition? I went to a food truck festival here recently and it was basically simple street food like tacos that cost about about 30% more - vendors have to cover the extra costs. It was so disappointing.

      @@skatingcanuck9837 Yeah, I might just do that in the future.

    We have an indoor hawker market I’ve been meaning to visit here, but no night markets. They have some very cool ones in Korea. I like how the prices were reasonable and the portions were not too big so you could be introduced to the flavour palate of several cuisines. Malaysian food is hard to find in Toronto and Burmese is almost impossible to find here.

      I really want to visit Korea someday! Yeah, I think that the Queens Night Market is the best in NYC. The variety of food that's offered is incredible!

    Going to NYC for the first time late Oct into November. Any good festivities you can recommend? Mainly upper west side. Thx. My wife and I love your videos!!

      Thanks! That makes me happy to hear! You’ve picked a good time to come to NYC. The weather is really nice and you might also get to see some of the amazing fall foliage. Central Park near the Upper West Side has some of the best scenery during fall. Definitely check out the Bow Bridge when you go. The Natural History Museum is on the Upper West Side and the iconic Levain Bakery is also in the neighborhood. As far as events and the like, it’s hard to say what will be available considering the pandemic, but I’m sure when it gets closer to that time things will be clearer. I hope this helps.

    Great selection of international foods. Always worth going, except when the queues are excessively long and vendors run out of food.
    Great video James. Keep the videos coming!

      Yeah, that's one of the best parts of the market. So much unique food for not a lot of money.

      Affordable for a NYC festival. Of course all of the food I've had could be gotten elsewhere in the city for less, but compared to other NYC food events, this is one of the most affordable with the greatest diversity of cuisine.

    what a fun tasting adventure! it looked that people were happy this event was happening. Not alot of masks or social distancing anymore. guess life has returned to New York. Cant wait for your part two of the market. out of all the dishes, which was your favorite and which was best value for $$?

    • @Jamesnu
      @Jamesnu  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, that’s one of the other reasons I came early. It’s not as risky with less people but it did feel a bit awkward at the end when it started to get crowded. The Burmese soup was probably the best value, but the food I enjoyed the most was the fuska. At the same time, I really enjoyed everything.
