Also your personal story keeps motivating me. Everything I must say. I keep telling myself if you can do it, of course I can.
I choose not to listen to negative reviews of other freelancers that keeps saying Upwork doesn't worth it.

My next suggestion would be to make a video for beginners because the beginner part is the hardest and if someone can guide a person at that stage the rest of journey becomes easy. It's been a year Evan. This still works although not for most proposals
Question - Does it make sense to send proposals for jobs where you don't meet all the client's criteria? Or do those proposals get automatically archived? I have 10 years of professional experience and a solid portfolio/work samples but only recently started freelancing so sometimes I come across jobs where I don't meet the criteria because the client wants a freelancer with X amount of upward earnings or someone from EST timezone when I'm PST myself.

Yes, it’s a common thing to happen, where when you win a couple of projects, you go off running to get them done and forget about looking for more work - then that hurts you because it signals to Upwork that you’re not actively looking for work, and so you end up getting “downgraded” in the search results. But there are solutions! The main one is consistency in keeping applying for jobs on Upwork - that part is really key !

If you don't have prior WORK examples, then you might consider substituting in the "results examples" for testimonial examples, i.e. people that you've done work for prior to your work on Upwork, that have said good things about the work you do - is that helpful @The Current Affairs?

P.S. @Usama - are still actively applying for jobs on Upwork? Bear in mind that there is one "not-so-obvious" thing on Upwork about applying to jobs... if you are consistently applying, then I've noticed that Upwork "upgrades" you in the search results and you'll end up with more clients eventually. Are you seeing that?
@@FreelanceMVP yup, I am applying to the jobs, but there are some times when i see a lot of jobs of my interests and skills and sometimes i don't see a single one and nowadays i don't see a one of my interests or skills, So, a little slow nowadays but yup applying for the ones i found.

Have you considered re-examining your saved searches, and potentially adding more? In my first year on Upwork, I found that to be an incredible help in getting more & better jobs...

Hey evan i have a question, i am a Video editor that's studying to get professional.

Forget everything this man is saying. Never make the cover letter about you, make it about the client and their needs. Forget saying I did this, and I got another client over 200K views, and a million subs, and I did that yaddaa yaaadaa yaada. Everyone is doing that and it doesn't make you stand out! Stop with the bragging and self-promotion, you're not a salesman. Address their goals and needs, send them a link to your portfolio, and thank them for their time, and that you hope to hear from them soon if they think you're the right fit. Simple.

Hello Ivan, I just started my Upwork profile and I feel like I'm about to be scammed, an employer reached out to me on WhatsApp and they seem to be getting away with my trust in how legit they're, but on reading the Upwork protection policy which I'd done before I replied them, it makes me think they've defied the protocols stated by Upwork that says all communication should be done on the platform until after you a sent a copy of the contract. What would you advise me to do, I am quite desperate cause their offer seems so pleasing.
Did you provide them with your phone number so they could contact you on WhatsApp?

You probably need to stop contact right now, and forget about the job, block the client and don’t give out any contact details prior to a contract anymore. Then go read through the Upwork terms of service in their entirety so you know the rules and don’t make the mistake again. Be very careful, giving contact info prior to a contract is a permanently bannable offense on Upwork!
