    You didn't mention that Ryobi advertises as "oil-free design," and states no bar and chain oil is needed. I'm not recommending following that advice, but it's a notable mention given that you recommended bar and chain oil (which I agree). Maybe the limited amount they expect their customers use it they can expect selling more chains, but it seems like a poor recommendation for customer satisfaction

    Watched your video last night. Bought one this morning. Fills a niche. I have some eye dropper bottles that I put some chain oil in. I drip some on the chain (facing away) and pull the trigger to distribute it.
    Picked up a spare chain when I bought it.

    The description for these says "Oil-Free" design. Yet, most mentioned it does need oil. Why is that? Do you have to use specifically a Bar Oil, or can I use any oil like 3in1 oil? Are there any other types of maintenance required for this? thx

    • @user-zv4fh6cq2s
      @user-zv4fh6cq2s Місяць тому

      If you do have bar oil, it works best because it is thick. However, motor oil will work, it just won't last as long. Get a plastic bottle with a quick-open cap (I used a gatorate) and apply a dozen drops along the bottom edge every 2 minutes of use. The chain will get very hot if it is under-lubricated.

    They recommend two hands to use this tool, but don't give a safe place to put that off-hand. Brilliant! I get it, Ryobi, Milwaukee = Same parent company. Might as well come wirh a giant sticker on this tool saying "Spend more $$$, buy the Milwaukee version." That one actually comes with a hand-guard for your other hand. Or, buy the 8" brushed version of the Ryobi (the one that looks like a compact, traditional chainsaw). Hard pass for me on this one-handed chainsaw that comes with a recommendation to use two hands.

    Hi, i have question about chain. On the official Ryobi website pictured classic chain with chisels every 2 links. Your chain has chisels on every link. It comes with the tool or you get it separately? Unfortunately i cant visit Home Depo and check it in person.

    This should also be a part of your review as it may be a deal breaker for your viewers...
    The biggest issue that many have said from its previous version, is a replacement chain is NEVER in stock at HD. But a few pple have said an aftermarket one is avail on Amazon. Only time will tell if that won't be an issue with this one. So yep, it's a gamble if you buy this, could very well be a one chain and done tool

    I thought it says it's an oil-free chainsaw? At least that's what it says in the specs at Home Depot. I have the first 6” I got it during batterie days. I use it to clear single track trails for dirt bikes. I have cut off all unnecessary plastic. Love the tooled design I just brake it down and into my back pack. Just buy the chain on HD online . I also have the 14” 40v for big trees but that requires a chainsaw mount. I have been waiting to see the new 8” I wish it was tool less so much faster and easier to use. As far as oilless when you’re done with it clean and oil and get the holes in the tip. The chain is not fast and your not running it for an hour strait cutting fire wood. Thanks for the review

      I ended up getting the 18volt 10"blade Ryobi. I used it this week on some dead evergreen trees. The wood was hard but the Ryobi 10" chain saw cut right through them. I pushed on the manual oiler several times as I was cutting the tree down and things went well. The chain did stretch quite a bit but I was able to tighten it up and keep on cutting.
