  • Had a hard time finding information on this code P0017 that pertained to the non-vvt ecotech gen 1 motors 2.0 LSJ Supercharged and it should also apply to the gen 1 2.2 L61.
I didn't point out in video that there are markers on the cam sprockets that the colored links line up to. The sprockets appear to be interchangeable and have markers on each, the triangle is used on the exhaust cam and the diamond is for intake. Both are marked.

Your cam lobes are off by 180 degrees. Intake should be at 5 o’clock and exhaust at 7 o’clock

Issue was caused by the chain guide broke the top bolt and the chain skipped 1 link. Can't remember if it was the intake or exhaust valves left a kiss mark on the pistons. Another link and bent vavles!!😅
This is a common enough issue that a easy fix was designed. The inspection plug is replaced with one that is extended to replace the broken bolt/stud. That is used to hold the chain guide in. Saves having to take the head off and getting the broken bolt out.
Car has been back on the road for a few months and a couple thousand miles.

@@gamblermgwaugh8214 I just had the exact same problem and fixed it. That bolt was $50 alone from doorman. I was lucky the valves didn’t touch the pistons 😅
