    Yall ever wonder if there are anyone alive now that are direct descendance of any of the pharaohs? Like think about it man. There has to be. But would we ever know or find out?

    • @thehistorybuff1883
      @thehistorybuff1883  3 роки тому +5

      Well, the pharaohs of Egypt ruled so long ago that a great number of people alive today could theoretically trace their lineages back to them. This principle is shown by the fact that most Asians alive today are distant relatives of Genghis Khan, and most Europeans alive today are distant relatives of Charlemagne.

    According to you were the ancient Egyptians white or black or brown or mixed?

    • @thehistorybuff1883
      @thehistorybuff1883  3 роки тому +5

      The Egyptians didn't have our clearly defined divisions of race in mind, but we would probably call them 'mixed' today. However, there was an interesting occurrence when an Egyptian ruler sent a statue of monkeys and Nubians alongside eachother to the king of Kush as a racial insult, and I would say it's clear that the Egyptians were not 'white' by our modern interpretation at all.

      Quote from 1867 by founding Egyptologist Champollion Figeac -
      “The first tribes that inhabited Egypt that is, the Nile Valley between the Syene cataracts and the sea, came from Abyssinia to Sennar. The ancient Egyptians belonged to a race quite similar to the Kennous or Barabras, present inhabitants of Nubia
      In the Copts of Egypt we do not find any of the characteristic features of the ancient Egyptian population. The Copts are the result of crossbreeding with all the nations that have successively dominated Egypt . It is wrong to seek in them the principal features of the old race.”

    1:30 I'm not sure that this recounting of Egyptian mythology is accurate. I've read that first, Set sealed the casket and tossed it into the Nile. Isis tracked it down and they, along w their son Horus, hid out in the papyrus. Eventually, Set discovered them, and that's when he butchered Osiris and dispersed the pieces.

    • @thehistorybuff1883

      I'm not qualified to assert anything with regards to this question, but I will say that Ancient Egypt came to an end after periods of dominance from other cultures. ( The Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Christians, and then the Caliphate)
