I am in the USA and thunderstorms are wonderful. So long as they don't get too crazy with big hail, tornadoes, etc., they are just a lovely way to cool off a hot summer day. Cheers!
Appreciate u for watching lad :) I'd love to visit America some day and tour alongside Tornado Alleys general district to capture and see a tornado or supercell sometime We generally get severe frequent storms in Australia during spring summer and autumn This past week there's been 12 million lightning strikes documented along Australia, 3 million on Sunday breaking practically all records which is insane!
@@SouthSydneyStorms During the Spring here, we do get lots of tourists from other parts of the world come out to chase tornadoes with the locals, so you would be most welcome! While it's not guaranteed that you will see a tornado it is still an adrenaline rush hoping to see one. If nothing else, you should see some intense thunderstorms. You just have to be careful and make sure you are with experienced chasers. Cheers and I hope to one day visit your wonderful country!
That storm looks scary! It actually rained in California a couple days ago and the clouds were super black but surprisingly no thunder or lightning was heard or seen
@USArailfanner3448 a nice winter storm is always pleasant (assuming it's nearly winter for yous in America) appreciate u for watching. I wish I started recording while the storm was rolling in, but I completely forgot 😂 would have been a nice time-lapse
Conditions were primed for an event like this to happen, started by a deep low pressure system in the southern ocean with the centre being around 980hpa, the front swept across eastern SA and through all of NSW. Even after crossing the entire state of NSW, the system showed no signs of slowing down because the amount of instability, heat, moisture and shear in the air was enough to keep the system going for quite some time.
@Strawhataviation the North Easterly Sea breeze dissolved the squall line once it started getting closer to sydney and Illawarra (lightning wise) and become heavily rain wrapped... however once nightime started and the NE winds dissolved... the nightime show started again which was cool Appreciate the info tho about the event mate 👌👍 cheers for watching
Well it was bound to happen, it has been overcast and cloudy all last week and then come last Sunday the humidity was just about unbearable in Sydney leading up to this thunderstorm. It started off kinda dark as the storm started and as the wind before was blowing in from the east suddenly changed direction from the west and it was gale force. There was lightning but it all was cloud bound, there was hardly any cloud to ground lightning. Still it was an impressive sight going into the night.
I'm glad it sort of turned into a crawler fest once nightime started, as the dissolving storms re develop along the coast over the ocean, it generally provides a nice view of lightning barrages I just wish it hadn't become a outflow rain wrapped event as it moved along warragamba dam to sydney Appreciate u for watching mate :) The humidity this year is gonna be a very rough one again | severe cloud seeding coverage + warmer oceans + north easterly winds generally provide 22°C nights with 80% humidity along the coast which is orectocially unbearable with light winds
Thanks for watching mate :) apologies about the late reply... this year seems to be another slow start... hopefully we will see more action throughout 2025 but unlikely :/
There was actually lots of CG lightning near Nowra, I could hear it but couldn’t see any of them - all hidden inside heavy rain, cloud about 1 km up and salt spray in the air limited visibility to about 5 km all day. I haven’t seen a lightning bolt since May……
This squall was the most lightning active event I've ever seen ever alongside the locations mentioned in the description.... I've never seen so many CGs so frequently consistent at once on the Windy radar app... unfortunate it died down heading towards Sydney but Nowra and Wollongong got hammered by a CG fest which is awesome :) Great to finally get a event like this, however this year seems to be another miss sadly :/ Appreciate u watching mate :) this storm was heavily outflow rain wrapped over here, but nightime put a decent lightning show on thankfully
Looks like the shelf looked better at your area. Was pretty cyan looking but my camera couldnt get the colours right. Unfortunately looks like there won't be any storms for the next 10ish days
Thanks for watching mate, this year is looking to yet again be a rough one in terms of active cells rolling in (lightning active wise they've been fairly disappointing)
Documented the event nicely! Good stuff as always! I was chasing west of Dubbo on this day and lots of lightning seen out there, should have a video up in a few days.
Thanks very much legends Michael :) Soon enough I'll be able to eventually chase some storms, just a bit unfortunate how Sydney's traffic problems can affect practically everything, I'd rather just wait it out at home and hope for the best haha Keen to see your pov ofc mate 😉

@ yes it would have lol. And yes winter is coming pretty quickly in the us. It’s gotten cold now.

I need to upload mine, hopefully by this week.
Wow that storm was fairly dark and amazing ❤.
Yes it was our first proper storm in a while I’m in north Sydney and we had damaging winds here branches down

Nice! I live in Pennsylvania and we haven’t had rain for about two months and are in a serious drought situation. We’re praying for rain. ☔️☔️🙏🙏
I really hope it rains for y'all considering its winter 🙏 appreciate u watching tho legend
Great video and storm, nice to finally see some decent storm action in Sydney, hopefully there might be something later this week🤞

A bolt hit very close to my parent's place in Bomaderry, fried their modem
Absolute lightning insanity 💯
@@michaelkeene3051 Not the first time a bolt has landed close by there
