  • This is my 2nd + 3rd surgery of 2022, following Thyroid Cancer surgery earlier in the year. I had surgery on 6/27/22 for Hysterectomy & Cyst Removal but had complications and went back for emergency surgery on 7/1/22.
--TRIGGER WARNING- mentions of complications, pain, etc. Please don't watch if you are not emotionally ready.
After my surgery, they discovered the "tailgut" cyst was gynecological in nature and stuck to my intestinal region near the rectum; after the pathology report, it showed stage 4 endometriosis/adenomyosis/cyst/fibroids.. the Drs don't know how it got there or how it could form that way.
After the surgery I am living temporarily for the next 3 months with a colostomy bag, I'm 1 week post op right now and live to fight on another day.

I had complications after donating a kidney. Eventually had to get a central line in the ground by a first year resident. Had to have something for blood transfusions and fluids and meds. Praying you feel better. Pain meds make me nauseous as well. Phenergan was all that helped. That and Tylenol.

Maybe it will turn out not to be a tailgut cyst after all!? you can only see so much through an MRI.. that’s what happened to me, they told me when they went in, it didn’t look like one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have a tail gut cyst with two lobes the size of grapefruit and walnut connected by a strand that may be connected to other things. Having hysterectomy to clear the way for the cyst removal. I'm 51 and done having children so I'm OK with that. I'm super worried about resection of vagina and/or bowels. The ostomy just overwhelms me frankly. I'm also just curious how long I will need to be out of work and resting. Do I need one level living? My cyst could be cancerous...but they won't know til after surgery. Thank you for sharing your journey. Even hard stories are good preparation for what could be....

mine ended up to be an endo cyst instead of tailgut… it was removed and took a while to heal but it gave me my life back from pain
