- Luciano Pavarotti sings Ah! mes amis from act I of Donizetti's La Fille du Regiment (please note that this is the Italian version, not the French version).
Live 1969 - La Fille du Regiment - Orchestra e Coro del Teatro alla Scala conducted by Nino Sanzogno
This is one of my favourite Pavarotti recordings, it proves that he really is THE KING OF THE HIGH Cs. The best Tonio ever in my opinion.
This video is part of my tribute to the late Luciano Pavarotti, who as you should know, died a year ago today (6th of September). I'm posting up a few live recordings of his, just to try and get across the true Pavarotti to those who think that Pavarotti's greatest hour was singing with the spice girls. This recordings showcases the true Pavarotti, a gorgeous, youthful, colourful, joyous and refined voice.
Rest in peace Maestro, may you sing with the angels.
Pavarotti in my opinion was is and always will be the MAESTRO!!!
The most beautiful voice .....The Only. ...wonderful
Un grande maestro è da notare la limpidezza della voce
Wow, the Italian version is surprisingly gorgeous and refreshing!! The King is one and only, whichever way you turn it. I have heard many French versions many, many times and this is equally beautiful and breathtaking! Really, one can sing out refrigerator instructions in this language and it will sound good.
Thanks for this fantastic post sung in the Italian libretto, which is rather rare. His voice was a bit heavier than Donizetti intended I think, but I've never heard the role sung better. In his time, no one singing the bel canto repertoire was in his league.
In his good days his voice is like fluid gold. Like in this day.
Te amo Luciano ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What glorious pyrotechnics! The young Pavarotti had technique and a voice that was like a well tuned Maserati. He was only 34 when this recording was made and the youth and the silvery bell-like quality of the young voice shines here. I was fortunate to hear Pavarotti live In Atlanta on March 4, 1978, in recital at the Fox Theater.Despite having really packed on the poundage, the voice, by then 43 years old, had rioened into the glorious golden era Pavarotti. He ended woth Nessum Dorma: Chills!!
Tottaly acord, Pavarotti technique was perfect!
would love to hear more about your viewing the performance
Amazing!
Mooorhe,
Wow!! I've never heard this in the Italian and cannot believe the wondrous grandeur of Pavarotti's voice. Simply incredible. Of course, he was younger here than in the French version (we both commented on at GermanOperaSinger's page) from 1973, in which we heard a voice that was more mature and maybe, just maybe, a bit tired (as you enlightened me).
Thank you for posting this jewel of a recording.
The text is "Qual destin! qual favor! La sua man ed il suo cor!" The Cs come on "des-tin" and "sua man." To me, this is much more difficult than the French "mon âme" and "sa flamme" because at least in the French you get open vowels to sing.
Yes, it is...
If you've got it....flaunt it. He certainly had it.
Notice the timbre here. It's so light! The best is when he sings Pour mon âme, or whatever it is in Italian. Of course, he did fantastic in the French roles he performed, but there's always that beauty when he sings in Italian that is not present quite so much when he sings in French. Altogether, awesome performance!
This is the best Pavarotti version in youtube. Superb!!!
This is his best and most clear version on youtube to date! Thanks!
maravilla de voz!!
GRANDE GRANDE GRANDE PAVAROTTI con su voz diáfana y su potencia no he escuchado una versión mejor de Ames Amis
grandioso lucianone..!!!...
Amazing!! Thank u for uploaded it and also fo the Italian version... 5* =)
E' unico...
This appears to be an Italian version, not French, which I like a lot.
I noticed he missed a note at 0:46. I think this version is messing him up.
Still, he owns this.
9 mal ins hohe C !!!!!!!!!
so - why are all the popular recordings of this in French? - i would prefer it in Italian.
Michaela Borum Just because the original version is in french
@NMEnrique I did not said its a crack i said it seams like if he is about to crack, not the same enrique. But its just my opinion.
@OESL230886 yes 7.27 - 7.28
Notice at the end of the hiC there is an unstable moment in his voice, it seams he was a bout to crack :S
Slight waver at the end but not too drastic.
I think it's because he was stress because he just missed the lyrics before the first high C... didn't you notice ?
rhe italian version is not god
rubbish
