      Hi, we haven’t decided if we are going to utilize Spotify yet as a podcast channel but UA-cam is starting to create its own podcast channels so hopefully it will be easier to listen in the future!!

    Hi! " we're staying at this little bed and breakfast in Florence." Would explain this phrase more. Thanks.

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  Місяць тому +3

      Sure! You’ll get more info tomorrow in day 2 of class but I’ll happily share it here, too.
      A bed and breakfast is a small hotel usually in someone’s house that has some small rooms, they’re usually nice and cute and you get breakfast served in the morning, because they’re often little and cute we often say “this little bed and breakfast” or “this little B&B”

    fly out as I guess is the same as fly, or are giving it any additional meaning? Bring something back do you mean like present? Thank you!

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  Місяць тому +1

      Yes! We’ll chat more about it in day two but it has the same meaning. For me “flying out to” a place sounds like the start of a trip and can feel exciting to get started. Thanks for your question I hope that helps!

    Normal speed is ok, the low speed dialogue is weird.
    I would love to hear more phrasal verbs. Thank you

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  Місяць тому

      Noted! We definitely use phrasal verbs like flying out and going around and bring sth back but it’s common to mix everything up in spoken English too ☺️

  • @claudiabautista4165
    @claudiabautista4165 14 днів тому +2

    Hey guys : If someone asks me: how are you? And you answer: I’m fine , thanks..does this sound weird? A UA-camr is say saying that non native English teachers are teaching English the wrong way and that this is not the right way to answer .

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  14 днів тому +2

      Hi there! "I'm fine, thanks." is a *perfect* answer. There are many many different ways to answer "How are you?"
      - Good, thanks.
      - Good, and you?
      - Doing fine.
      - I'm fine, thanks.
      ALL of these are perfectly correct.
      Personally I really don't like this trend of UA-camr teachers tell you to "stop" using certain words or phrases. They are just trying to convince students that they are making mistakes because they just want to get views and be popular on UA-cam. Every time I have watched a video called: "DON'T SAY THIS" or "STOP SAYING THESE 5 WORDS" - it is always terrible - the videos are dishonest and are just manipulating students to get views. (Sorry for my rant 😤haha)
      Anyway, you can keep saying: "I'm fine, thanks" and ignore the teachers who tell you otherwise!

      @@highlevellistening Thank you so much for the reassuring response. I sometimes kind of (a filler lol like you said in one your videos I watched this AM when talking about our children) feel upset when I watch videos like these from Teacher Lao for example ..this girl is constantly saying : if they taught you this in your English class , they were doing it wrong “. it’s awesome when native teachers like you two or Bob the Canadian or Teacher Mike make their videos without having to criticize other nonnative teachers and make them seem like they are teaching nonsense. Thank you so much for responding and doing it so quickly.❤️🥰
