    PERFECT for me! Single parent of 2 furr babies.
    Convection/microwave oven and solar package; just in case I missed those options.
    You are the best! Keep being you and bringing it! Blessings to you!

    This is my favorite Ember out of all of them. The storage and counter space is much better on the floor plan. I wonder why they put a plastic sink in the bathroom? Stainless would be better and less…cheap looking. I’m not a fan of the East West bed but they definitely nailed the finishing around the frame when the bed is up. A convection oven would be preferred then you don’t need an oven. I’m looking forward and holding out to seeing the dual axle. Great review!

      I agree with the convection microwave-- that would be a great addition because then it would serve two purposes and not require an oven. Of note as well... PLEASE @EMBER people - please figure out how to put this sort of thing not above a 5'2" height. As a nurse, I cringe every time I see a microwave oven that would require me to lift a hot or steaming item from above my eyeline. It is a safety issue in my mind. Think about the nightmare scenario of a person boondocking who gets a bad burn out in the boonies. Not a great situation! Please try to find a better placement for that. Thanks!

      After the rust during storage all over my stainless sinks in my E-Pro, plastic would be PHENOMENAL! Every attempt at dehumidification has been taken!

    As someone who want to boondocks in some fairly rocky areas of my home state, this meets my specific needs. I really appreciate the level of detail Josh has been giving on these. He always does a great job but really digging in to what makes these different has been really helpful .

    Favorite floor plan so far. Huge fan of the added storage, counter space, camp side window and rear bath. Wouldn't mind seeing this floor plan as a 19 vs 17. Eagerly awaiting a dual axle maybe 25 or 26 feet? I keep checking Ember's site and this morning saw a new 191 MSL. Please, please, please Ember go a bit bigger. As usual Josh you rock!

      like the 170MRB Floor plan except it doesn't have a dinette or enough counter space for my liking. One more bed would be nice too. Putting this floor plan on the 190 frame would allow an extra 2 feet of length. The additional length would allow putting in an oven and adding countertop and storage next to the sink. We very seldom use an oven in a camper, but Its nice to be able to put dirty dishes on one side of the sink, wash them, and then put them on the other side to dry. The jackknife sofa could be replaced with a dinette. Instead of cabinets above the dinette, a drop down bunk (like the Hi-Lo campers had) would be great. The extra 2 feet length would allow a cabinet and counter space next to the dinette and allow room for the bathroom door to open. Would be great for a families of up to 5.

    This is a high end top drawer travel trailer (camper). This is like a back country Airstream Bambi. But one you would find in the wilds of Montana instead of luxury RV parks of the gulf coast or midwest. This thing is stuffed to the eyeballs with all kinds of neat features, and nice high grade features at that. I saw many many really cool gadgets and just plain kool stuff and hardware on this guy. I love it. The Curt suspension, nifty wheel chocks, ladder and interior subtle touches all add to the flat out goodness of this trailer. But you do pay for it. Both in price and weight. And the requirement for a beefier tow rig to pull it. This is a nice trailer! At $48,000 to $55,000, and about 4,200 pounds dry and 5,500 pounds gross weight, it is definitely a premium trailer.
    Now park it next to the Braxton Creek Bushwhacker Plus 17FD which comes in at around 2,300 pounds dry, 3,300 pounds gross weight and price around $15,000 to $17,000, and you see just how far apart this really nice Ember trailer is from the regular entry level smaller single axle camper/travel trailers. A truly worthy trailer for the discerning buyer looking for something special. This is it. It can be dragged through rugged terrain and just get a little muddy and dust covered with minimal damage but literally would rip the Bushwhacker apart.
    But I will come home with the Bushwhacker. Because I like cheap affordable trailers and light weight over fancy, loaded heavy and solid as a brick expensive trailers and I won’t pay the price of admission.
    And that my friend, is high praise for the Ember. It’s too nice and good for my taste.

    Totally agree on ditching outside speakers. Their sound quality usually sucks (as does the interior ceiling speakers). I do wish, however, they could come with a smart TV, DVD player, sound bar with radio tuner. This rig is going to go places with no TV signal, and if you have a day when the weather sucks you might want to watch Vito make someone an offer they can’t refuse.

    For your comments on the skylight,I take you have to deal with a lot idiots and their comments.
    1 Love the closet with the flip down shelve. I always hope manufacturers provide 2-3 removable and height adjustable shelves with each wardrobe where you can hang clothes.
    2. Agree with your idea of outside access panel for interior storage in the pass-through.
    3. What about a countertop icemaker in the outside kitchen? Whiskey anyone? The griddle can be placed on a picnic table.
    4.. I would love a wall TV hook and hookups outside. If the it a smart TV, it can also mirror the phone screen for kids and adults as well.

    MODIFICATION: What I'd do is remove the secondary sofa opp the kitchen, add a folding bar style counter top under the window, so that if not in use it can be folded dowm ans flush with the wall. Add folding chairs for seating when in use. Or nornal chairs, the point is the sofa under the bed will be used the most for leisure TV watching or the bed. For guests, the chairs will do. So this stuff give more space for passing through and kitchen prep etc.
    Optional. Complete solar, remove the propane entirely, replace as many batteries on the front storage gear box, remove the gas cooktop, put an induction cooktop, the outer grill can be modified to use the small portable propane cans for grill use. Add as many solar panels on the roof too for obvious reasons.

    I bought an 2022 Ember RV Overland 171FB last June. We have had a number of issues with the trailer, some related to bad appliances (12V Refridgerator and A/C unit) but most were due to poor quality control. The build date on ours was March so it would be nice to know they improved leaking faucets, ungreased front jack, gaps in structure, and kinked plumbing hoses on the Truma system that were common in models last year. All of the issues we encountered were also noted by dealer repair shops we have used all over the southeast US. You might consider an update as we bought ours based on recommendations from your podcast and others amazed by the new product.

    Please always include road mode, it is much appreciated. Absolutely love this floor plan. Less stuff to go wrong and increased storage. Agree on the access door even if you get the max power package, may help with battery/electrical service should you or a tech ever need to. This would be my Ember choice with the max power package. Minor criticisms: If that table top does not swivel/rotate it really needs to, I'd hate to be the person locked into the corner of the murphy sofa location. Would really like to see a 3 burner range/oven combo, but I guess you could lug around a Camp Chef oven range combo and use it outdoors. Perhaps a residential size convection microwave with the max power package. Haven't looked at options recently so perhaps some are addressed.

    I absolutely love this RV and floor plan.. Sometimes I travel alone. For me the jackknife sofa needs to be a small dinette for 2 people. It could possibly convert into a single bed. That would make it absolutely perfect for me.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 роки тому +1

      The dinette is definitely the more traditional route. I think Ember purposely tried to make themselves a bit different and help provide extra space when the table was not deployed
      Doesn't work for everyone obviously and I'm really just estimating here.

    Josh we love love this unit! Currently we have a 2022 Keystone Hideout 174RK - we like it but don’t love it, the dealership we bought it from said the sofa for the Murphy bed was damaged from the factory so they pulled a different sofa from another unit which is puffy and when you convert to the bed our feet are higher than our head - oh my I always wake with a headache - another dislike is the dinette slide, I need a step stool to get up in it, would have rather had a sofa in the slide and last but least is the bathroom, it’s so tight that both my husband and myself have cut our arms on the cupboard pull, it could have been designed differently. So we are looking for a different unit, can’t seem to get Keystone to work with us. … but we really love everything about the Ember line

    Love the bathroom & the extra shelf in the closet. LOTS of storage if you need clothes for all seasons in a day or weekend like would be needed around here. I really appreciate the info regarding how the showermiser works.

  • @nomadicana
    @nomadicana 2 роки тому +1

    I love this camper, but the shower seems narrow (24 inches) for such a big bathroom. Add to that, the shower ledge juts out into the narrow dimension of the shower - why?!? The shower is so long (40 inches), the ledge would be much better placed on the long end. If they can’t physically make the shower wider due to the floor plan, I’d like to at least see one of those shower curtain rods that bows out, giving you functionally more elbow space. Also, minor point, but it would be great if the fold up shelf in the closet were split in half, so you have the option for half hanging storage, and half with an extra shelf. But generally, this is my favorite floor plan!

  • @rosemarydoran9907
    @rosemarydoran9907 2 роки тому +2

    I like this camper! The bathroom is AWESOME! Of course you know I love the residential Queen size mattress and the fact that it is east to west does not bother me in my situation. I also appreciate the fact that you can actually leave the bed down because there is a second seating area. I'm still not super crazy about where the TV is or the size of it as I think it's a bit small. The kitchen is decent. I appreciate the wall-mounted outlets and you made a very good point about using the dinofa table on one of the sofas as additional prep space. With outlets located on the side stands you could potentially plug in a countertop appliance like a crock pot or a small toaster oven although you would have to be careful about heat transfer as I'm not sure of what the table is actually made of and I wouldn't want it to melt if it was a plastic material. I appreciate the storage space under the sofas although if I were to buy one of these I would probably get a bigger solar package so I would lose storage space under the bed but would still have the storage space under the sofa that faces the kitchen. The pantry space is nice and I like the large refrigerator as well. The cabinets above the shorter sofa are perfect for additional pantry storage clothing storage or other kitchen items you might need to bring along. Although there are multiple drawers I don't know that you're going to be able to easily find a silverware or utensil organizer that would fit in such narrow drawers but that is something you could probably find a work around 4:00. As far as what would I use the space by the bed in the cubby areas I would like to use that for what I would use any side stand for my eyeglasses, my phone, a book, etc. It doesn't look like you can use the side stands when the bed is down so I think CPAP users might be out of luck with this unless you had a small TV tray type table that you could set next to the bed to house your CPAP at night. Not an issue for me but I know for many it is. The only thing I would like to see added to this would be the fact that I would prefer that the sofas reclined, however that is relatively minor considering most campers this size don't have any seating space other than a dinette and I would much rather have a double dinofa than a dinette. Thanks nerd!

    YES to the OUTSIDE KITCHEN!!!!!! How much room do you have by the door when the bed is down? I want a dinette. I know , I sound like a broken record. I don't need an oven but I would need a convection oven. I use one all the time. I love the 2 burner stove top. More counter space. Coffee/tea area with plugin. I love the refrig. I would buy a second table. We each need a working place. Over all, I love it

  • @robertsitch1415
    @robertsitch1415 2 роки тому +1

    I guess you could say that it would be a good rig for someone who wants to camp at places that often have a 25' length restriction. It has plenary of counter space for an air fryer or toaster oven to make up for the lack of built-in oven anyway.

    I keep coming back to this one as my favorite. One major issue that keeps me from choosing it? The sofa is too low for me to relax and look out the window...BUT, I just had the idea that I may be able to raise the sofa up high enough to insert storage drawers underneath AND look out the window. Bingo-Bango, this may be the one.

    I was really excited to purchase an RV in VA. But after finding out I need a score of 800-850 to get best rates, and only a1 year warranty, and I noticed quality control poblems on the 2 trailers I looked at. A Rubicon and a Jayco. Then it hit me that my 07 Equinox won't pull what I want, and I need RV insurance, gap insurance, this is alot to soak in. I am taking a break and will reconsider this fall. IF I find a used Tahoe or Suburban and sell my Equinox then I will definitely reconsider. My local dealer is Camping World. Wanted to sell the same day. And it was quite alot to take in. Thankfully I got out of there before agreeing to anything. I wish I lived in your state. Very good videos from you.

    I've never owned a trailer but have been thinking about buying one and this Ember is one that I'm looking at.
    I do not understand the concern with the hitch weight and mid-size trucks. I drive a Tacoma with a max towing of 6400Lbs and a recommendation that hitch weight of 9% to 11% of trailers total weight. I owners' manual does not list a hitch weight limit, but some web sites list it as 1300Lbs.
    - sway control device require for towing over 2000Lbs
    - weight distribution device required if towing over 5000Lbs

      Ember's product development manager has a mid-size pickup (ranger I think? Maybe tacoma?) & hauls a 190MDB to overlanding events himself (and with his family)
      He says in windy zones it can get dicey but overall he's been perfectly fine
      I see similar responses in ember's owner's group on facebook. Perhaps they can help you here: facebook.com/groups/1075025376649400

    Weight is not an issue for my tow rig, but the height and width might be… plus the high ground clearance. I haven’t seen and Ember in person so I can judge yet if I need a bigger tow rig. Josh, would you tow the 170 series Ember models with a 2015+ CCLB Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon with the Duramax? My question primarily applies to the fact that the Ember units are tall and wide. The non ZR2 Colorado has a tow rating of 7000.

    love these embers.... and the skylight they put up front is best i seen overall, big view, opens for air, love skylights in a rv in general, bed is perfectly fine, that little cubby you cant get to with bed closed would be a good place to put things you would rather not have found in certain states, such as your weed. the 2nd couch is ok... but seems almost a waste since it faces strait at the ass of whoever cooking and nothing else really.... for those who would leave the bed down, i would probably still want it... but for me, i see folding bed up to be easy enough, and rather sit at that couch for all reasons..... what i would do in that spot, is put possibly a desk /counter type space there instead facing out the window, which can have some drawers or cabinets in it, tv stay where it is be fine, even if sitting at counter or desk as you may use it. or maybe a couple swivel chairs instead of couch... not really sure, just 2nd couch seems a bit useless except for the dog to lay on, many things i can think of doing with that spot that would be more useful to me, but i dont have any friends that need to sit on 2nd couch anyway. nice little kitchen outside, perfect for my purposes. these things are built like tanks, something like a sofa where i fart in the face of my guest while i cook is not a deal breaker by no means, just rather space have option of other uses... i would say a small 2 person dinette would be ok there, at least one seat facing strait at tv, as seen in some other models. ... many seem to put dinettes where i would want theatre seats, and theatre seats where a dinette may be better i have noticed, this is one of those cases... if counter facing out is not doable, dinette 2nd best for this one in my opinion... but remember, my preferences on rvs come from perspective of a single man with no kids, may be a totally stupid setup for a couple or someone with a kid or two traveling with them, very hard to make a single unit that appeals to such wide spectrum, and we know building niche specific units that are not good for much else is EXPENSIVE, simply because you will not sell a lot of them, how many people need an rv that can hold 2 race cars or 8 horses? not many, and you can not use one kind of trailer for the other, if you need both functions, you need 2 different rv trailers period, but if someone made a trailer that could do both, 2 race cars or 8 horses, or one car and 4 horses lol, that trailer would out sell both of the single use models over time, and probably become cheaper than the specific built ones as they will now appeal to both crowds.....family trailer vs singles trailer same issues..... but these embers as they sit, such as this one with the couch i do not care for, do cover both types of needs very well, great for the single person, or the couple with a kid or two, as i said not a deal breaker, i would buy trailer anyway, just rather have something else there myself. nothing about embers i do not like, built so very well and rugged, very well laid out floorplans, seem to kinda... "work" better than similar close to same in other models, just little things like the skylight right over bed/couch instead of over kitchen or some spot noone is ever under much, all come together very nicely, i am very impressed with ember overall, did a great job of building a tough comfortable box regardless of floorplans i have seen so far, they are all very good very well executed.

      I like the idea of the dinette or recliner or desk. However, the dinette could work for most of the desk functions as long as it has at least a couple of 110 outlets.
