Oh my god. This is huge. I'm hearing HQ versions of tracks I never thought would be released. I thought the DiC version was pushed into obscurity, but I'm so glad there are still fans out there fighting to keep it alive. Kind of like how Ocean Dub Dragon Ball Z got a release (Rock the Dragon Edition), DiC Sailor Moon deserves a release! I'll never say that's how an anime SHOULD be adapted, but it's still what we grew up with. Ronin Warriors and Teknoman did it too. You but Samurai Troopers and it was a dual sided disc with one side having the old edited dub and the other having the uncensored sub. Teknoman I believe sold two dub sets (there was a slightly different dub outside the US) and then separate sub sets for unedited Tekkaman Blade in Japanese. That's what I want for Sailor Moon!

As a fan of Bob Summers' music in the English dubbed version of Sailor Moon, I just want to say thank you for providing the SFX-free music. As a retired (no longer soon) director of the fandub version of "Sailor Stars", I'll look forward to the download first thing tomorrow.
I’m fairly sure I worked with you on that project. Was it around 2008-2010, whole forum dedicated to it? I recall a topic where we were debating character name changes and Princess Celestia was a contender for Princess Kakyuu’s name, and that I was going to go through and edit your scripts but unfortunately 16 year old me was having a whole mental health crisis (for the following and preceding ten years) and ended up dipping, but I remember being so so SO eager to work on it. One of the first scripts I got to edit was a scene between Mars and Neptune, but that’s all I can really say haha. You may be someone COMPLETELY different, but if not, just know that your project really brought a lot of joy.

like 15 years ago I got bootleg DVD boxsets of the entire series, and they had an option to watch with the Dic Dub but uncensored uncut footage, as well as subtitles that were the translation of the Japanese diologue. it was absolutely the best of both worlds, nostalgic audio but I also was able to get the "real" story at the same time
I still own every volume of the DiC dub on DVD from ADV in immaculate condition. I also have the old ADV box sets, as well as Pioneers. My Sailor Moon DVD collection is massive. I never watch them anymore on that medium, now I have rips that I stream through Plex, just easier than pulling out the box sets.
I'm only just now commenting here, but there are no words to describe how happy this makes me. Sailor Moon has had such an impact on me and that includes the DiC dub, which I still hold near and dear to my heart. This music is awesome and I give my thanks to everyone who made this possible! EDIT: The cue at 7:16. Holy... I swear, I thought I'd never hear the full thing with good quality. Been looking for it for YEARS. Seriously, once again, thank you so much.
You're right, that cue is soo good! I love what different keys can do to the same theme. They really had a master's touch in taking the main theme song and applying it in so many unique ways to change the mood! That is not easy to do at all!

Oh I love the Dic dub. I remember every instance these music cues were used. I grew up with this dub starting as a toddler. These sounds combined with the warmth and charm of the original cast made for some truly memorable moments. Love it for always.

Omg I thought I would never be able to hear such clear versions of these pieces of music from my childhood! Honestly I don't care how much people say the DiC Dub wasn't good this is so nostalgic and magical sounding. I have been trying to get my hands on some of the DVDs with the DiC Dub.
This is INSANE that this exists! I've been wanting this to be released for so long. for some reason though, i was utterly convinced that it was Shuki Levy who did this music. Glad I know better now. The only thing that's really missing are versions of "Only A Memory Away" "Let's Fight" "Tear Our Hearts In Two" "You'll Be In My Heart" and "Wanting To Be Together" that are not interrupted by show dialogue XD
Cheese-ist Christ on a piece of toast!!!! Is this really for real?!? I’ve been searching for ages for clean versions of the music from the DiC dub! While I do love the original Japanese soundtrack in its own way (the Outer Senshi’s theme is an amazing example), there’s a certain charm to the music used in the DiC dub. The Viz dub is fine, but when I want to watch Sailor Moon in English I find myself returning to the DiC dub out of nostalgia. Sure it’s edited to hell and back, but when I want an “authentic” experience I always went with the subbed version anyway. Anyway, thank you all for doing this! As a fan of Sailor Moon and soundtracks in general, you REALLY made my day! (Is there a downloadable version of this album somewhere? I must add this to my collection.)

I have been looking for this music for 23 years, pre-dating the days of napster & kazaa. I'm happy to finally hear it, but I have grown so much in that time that it doesn't mean as much to me now as it would have all that time ago. That being said, I feel as though I can check another box off my bucket list.
Glad we could do it. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've been contacted about this music. Bob and I both thought that we didn't have any copies of the original tracks. Through a twist of fate...moving and cleaning out boxes and files...these appeared.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! FINALLY....They release some music cues from the first dub of Sailor Moon!!! this brings back so many memories , I love the music from the dub but was sad that they never released it on any format. While there are so many favorites on here one stands out and is my all time fave is the very last track called track 52: "Tuxedo Mask Romantic#2" This needs to come out in CD form as a 2-disc set!

This music was such a big part of my middle school years when this was the only major anime you could find on TV (way back in the day before even Toonami, lol). Everything that was Japanese to us was a can of worms. Everything got altered when things got localized in English back then only because they were scared North American audiences would not take it seriously if they leave it as is. I'm glad Sailor Moon got localized back in the day, it's just that it was boring how everything had to stay true to social norms, that's all. I wasn't a fan of the DiC dub either, but I'm glad people can now see the DiC dub Sailor Moon music in its entire glory. I don't hate the DiC dub in reality, its just that I was upset Zoisite had to be a tomboy only because gays were considered porn for children's entertainment. To be fair, many things got censored because we couldn't understand the Japanese market back in the day and parents didn't realize that none of the content in the Japanese version was promoting Satanism. I admit that parents were the misguided ones, not the kids. I've you played Pokemon, then you'll realize that Rosa's design and voice came from Usagi Tsukino.
@@GardevoirBoy yes and no. Canada already had gay centric after-school specials in the early and mid 90s. America, not as much. Ellen Degeneres was cancelled on primetime network TV for an ADULT audience after say "im gay" on air in 1998. Parents were freaking out in 1993 about Power Rangers and karate and Kung Fu. This was marketed as a kids cartoon airing in the morning and after-school block of programming, so that means no kamikaze scenes, no guns pointed at people's faces( esp on the heels of The Scotland mass incident in 1996), no kids jumping out of windows, no computers being smashed into monster faces, no mangled teenage cadavers, and no gay relationships. Trans wasn't even remotely a mainstream word yet. We lost a gay icon but gained a fabulous female villain in the otherwise all boys club of henchmen.

Children can handle gay relationships. Back then, people in America were too dense. Everything alien was not cool when it got censored. Gay marriage became legal in Canada in 2005 and was legal in America in 2015. As of 2021, over 26 years since the debut of Sailor Moon in NA, gay marriage still remains ILLEGAL in Japan, along with all their censored pornogrpahy. I hope the inequality of ACTUAL people in modern times has you just as if not more pissed off.

This is the best thing to happen in a long time. I don’t care what anyone says, I love the NA dub music from the 90s! Even more than the Japanese music, aside from Moonlight Densetsu and Ai no Senshi. The transformation music was lit and hype af.
You have no idea what my heart is doing being able to relive this... All of a sudden I'm back at my Aunt's house in Ottawa, Canada, watching this at age six (1996...) That summer I purchased the CD as well at the mall, and listened to it constantly on my discman. Those were the days. ♥♥♥🌙🌙🌙

This is pretty awesome, thanks for sharing it! The one track I'm still sad that, as far as I know has never seen the light of day, was the original version of Only A Memory Away used in the show. I never cared for the version that was on the soundtrack. I'll keep hoping to hear it someday.

@@TuxedoInferno the only reason we were able to get this to begin with was explaining that most of the source material was destroyed by a hydro pipe in 2013 at Sony Music Canada. At least according to employees I was in contact with prior to my prior fallout with the licensing department, now I've been barred from contacting Sony Music after my now deleted twitter thread which there legal team told me to take down. There is a slim chance Universal Records Europe and Sony Music Amarica has backups, But good luck trying to get the rights for those for a reasonable price.

Oh my god….I’ve been dying to find this for so long. I used to frequent a site that had Dvd rips with strained audio that was still ghosting in the background. There’s one track I’m dying to hear, I’ll have to listen all the way through to find it, but I have no doubt it’s in here! Thank you for this so much!
*update: it’s the final track! I was seriously sitting here wondering if it went missing. lol. It also sounds very similar to the theme to Romeo and Juliet, didn’t know if there would have been a dispute over it.

The DIC music and voice actors were very good! Yes the dub was not 100% accurate, but I always admired the time and effort put in.
The original dub voice actors are really nice in person, I met several of them multiple times at Fan Expo in Toronto over the years
DiC Sailor Moon was like magic! They amplified the fun in believing in magic!
I think it helped the franchise and the fans here to appreciate the show even more. I'm still a fan even to this day.

You're right, that cue is soo good! I love what different keys can do to the same theme. They really had a master's touch in taking the main theme song and applying it in so many unique ways to change the mood! That is not easy to do at all!

Oh I love the Dic dub. I remember every instance these music cues were used. I grew up with this dub starting as a toddler. These sounds combined with the warmth and charm of the original cast made for some truly memorable moments. Love it for always.

I've recently watched Sailor Moon's first English dub and I am glad to be listening to the music I haven't heard in the dub before.

While I do love the original Japanese soundtrack in its own way (the Outer Senshi’s theme is an amazing example), there’s a certain charm to the music used in the DiC dub. The Viz dub is fine, but when I want to watch Sailor Moon in English I find myself returning to the DiC dub out of nostalgia. Sure it’s edited to hell and back, but when I want an “authentic” experience I always went with the subbed version anyway.
Anyway, thank you all for doing this! As a fan of Sailor Moon and soundtracks in general, you REALLY made my day! (Is there a downloadable version of this album somewhere? I must add this to my collection.)

Glad we could do it. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've been contacted about this music. Bob and I both thought that we didn't have any copies of the original tracks. Through a twist of fate...moving and cleaning out boxes and files...these appeared.

This music was such a big part of my middle school years when this was the only major anime you could find on TV (way back in the day before even Toonami, lol). Everything that was Japanese to us was a can of worms. Everything got altered when things got localized in English back then only because they were scared North American audiences would not take it seriously if they leave it as is. I'm glad Sailor Moon got localized back in the day, it's just that it was boring how everything had to stay true to social norms, that's all. I wasn't a fan of the DiC dub either, but I'm glad people can now see the DiC dub Sailor Moon music in its entire glory. I don't hate the DiC dub in reality, its just that I was upset Zoisite had to be a tomboy only because gays were considered porn for children's entertainment. To be fair, many things got censored because we couldn't understand the Japanese market back in the day and parents didn't realize that none of the content in the Japanese version was promoting Satanism. I admit that parents were the misguided ones, not the kids. I've you played Pokemon, then you'll realize that Rosa's design and voice came from Usagi Tsukino.
@@GardevoirBoy yes and no. Canada already had gay centric after-school specials in the early and mid 90s. America, not as much. Ellen Degeneres was cancelled on primetime network TV for an ADULT audience after say "im gay" on air in 1998. Parents were freaking out in 1993 about Power Rangers and karate and Kung Fu.
This was marketed as a kids cartoon airing in the morning and after-school block of programming, so that means no kamikaze scenes, no guns pointed at people's faces( esp on the heels of The Scotland mass incident in 1996), no kids jumping out of windows, no computers being smashed into monster faces, no mangled teenage cadavers, and no gay relationships. Trans wasn't even remotely a mainstream word yet.
We lost a gay icon but gained a fabulous female villain in the otherwise all boys club of henchmen.

Children can handle gay relationships. Back then, people in America were too dense. Everything alien was not cool when it got censored. Here's some perspective. Gay marriage became legal in Canada in 2005 and was legal in America in 2015.
As of 2021, over 26 years since the debut of Sailor Moon in NA, gay marriage still remains ILLEGAL in Japan, along with all their censored pornogrpahy. I hope the inequality of ACTUAL people in modern times has you just as if not more pissed off.

@@TuxedoInferno the only reason we were able to get this to begin with was explaining that most of the source material was destroyed by a hydro pipe in 2013 at Sony Music Canada.
At least according to employees I was in contact with prior to my prior fallout with the licensing department, now I've been barred from contacting Sony Music after my now deleted twitter thread which there legal team told me to take down.
There is a slim chance Universal Records Europe and Sony Music Amarica has backups,
But good luck trying to get the rights for those for a reasonable price.
