This is probably Elliotts best performance in 2003. I love this performance. Leads me to believe Elliott was getting his vocals and guitar playing back again.
jacob portillo agreed. though it's heartbreaking elliott will never make another song, it is comforting to at least know that he was on a better path that last year. What a resilient, strong individual he was.
This is one of Elliott's best shows despite being at some of his lowest points. Wish the sound quality was better. Surprising a 2003 show is this good.
There's a really fukkin great vibe in this set, like this old skool punk sense of "fuck it" pissy sense of humor in the edges of Elliott's voice here, like it starts coming out in Angeles making it a great performance, missing from a lot of the other '00+ and especially '03 live performances... I don't know, I think Elliott Smith wrote a lot of really dryly witty songs and in interviews he says some of the most viciously sarcastic shit and it almost always flies over the interviewer's radar... yeah, it's dark humor, but there's a warmth in there that feels more like love than desperation. To me. Miss you Elliott. Thanks to the guy who filmed it and the uploader!
Hilarious how he said about Pitseleh "Pitseleh is long and boring (...) maybe if I heard it some time.. I don't know" in 2003 januari at the Henry Fonda concert and now he's playing it. Apparently he gave it another listen and changed his mind.
His personal perception of it always makes me laugh because it's damn near the most gut wrenching song I've ever heard in my entire life. With some killer lyrics!
Interesting that he said "poison arms" instead of "broken" in Angeles like he usually says when performing it live. I wonder if he had to relearn it, I know he was trying to regain a reputation for being a reliable live performer.
Would this have been one of Elliott's last live shows or did he play on throughout that northern summer? Were any later ones recorded? As great as his early work was in my opinion he was going from strength to strength towards the end and his latest songs were his best and most significant. Thanks Elliott, you gave so much and you just kept on giving us more and more :)
I was here. ❤️ He brushed passed my shoulder coming in.

The 2002 stuff is hard to watch and listen to...
@subcomandante marcos ya we will never know for sure. Cool to see this video still getting traffic.
@@bakedbrownie69amazingly (yet not too surprising) there's even good stuff that year.
@@lennonzamora5387what happened in 2002?
So weird this was 18 years ago. Feels like yesterday.
Such a great show

He is the toughest sensitive person to walk the planet. To different energies at once
He did say raw power was his favorite album
Great to hear Good to go, one of my favorite songs of his. He plays it really well here!
Yeah nice performance of it. I like it when it sounds slightly different from the record, this ones a little lighter sounding than the record
I was there. Now im here.

Really cool lights on Elliot for this one, perfect visual for his music.
I was there. So happy to find this video. Thank you.
Opens with two of my all time favorite songs from his discography. Thanks for posting. ❤️

Pitseleh ♥️

Damn, I somehow never heard/saw this show. Really seems like he was doing better here, maybe not top form, but back in the zone for sure.
I love this concert!!! Thank u!!
his cover of long long long is extremely haunting
Thanks for sharing!

He keeps changing the words for his songs, so they all had different versions
30:00 minutes in is Hilarious. Need a whistler? Everyone needs a whistler...
***** uhhh yaaa
Thought he was channeling part of 'Rocky racoon' in the previous song then goes into "long Long Long'
Kings Crossing
26:57 I have never heard this song

i wonder what his favorite to play was

He was clearly on something because at 51:47 he can barely walk straight off the stage.
He also could’ve been dizzy bc he gave it all for a dope show lol
He’s just walking around a mic stand
@@mmohatt3465 you don't stumble backwards trying to go around a mic..
@@Topspin89watch the video he literally is walking round a mic stand
Give me one good reason not to do it
(Because we love)
So do it.
