    I am a Nashville native, born and raised here (68 years old) and there are some stories I can tell you. First off the fort is called Fort Nashborough. The Ryman Auditorium was a church before it became the original Grand Ole Opry. The auditorium opened as the Union Gospel Tabernacle in 1892. The radio station that broadcasted the Grand Ole Opry was WSM 650 AM with their studios now located on the grounds of the Opryland Hotel. I worked at Opryland the first year it opened in 1971 (fresh out of high school) and became good friends with Roy Acuff. Gosh I miss him. 😢 Well, enough with my rambling. I just wanted to say my piece. Welcome to Nashville! We love to have you here!

    Russ seeing Nashville brings back childhood memories, my mom was a teacher and every summer we would drive down to Mississippi to my grandfathers farm. I am from Detroit, Michigan so we would take I-75 south. Nashville is such a cool. I have been to Ryman a few times even got to see Minnie Pearl perform at the Ryman. Thanks for bringing back such great memories.

    👍 The architectural design and the workmanship of the State Capitols in the US is just amazing. It shows back then when it was built, people had pride in US and to themselves.

    I'm impressed how clean the streets are downtown. No homeless camps taken over the sidewalks like out here in the West. Keep up the great work Russ!

      i am unsure - however, I think that there is a designated spot for people who are homeless, in order to keep them from that area.

    Another Excellent travel video Russ, the Capital building is Beautiful with its architecture and floors polished like glass. Kudos to Tennessee for their preservation of American History. Make sure you stop at Jack's BBQ on the strip for excellent pulled pork, also try Loveless Cafe about a 30 minute ride for the Very Best in Southern Cooking. Stay Safe Out There God Bless.

    I just subscribed to your channel. I have really enjoyed all your videos that I have seen so far. You did a lot of walking here in Nashville. Nashville is a beautiful city full of history. A lot of the country singers would come in the backdoor of Tootsies lounge after playing at the Ryman. You should come back and visit with us and stay for about a week and enjoy more of the history. The 11 president, James K Polk is actually buried on the grounds of the capitol. William Strickland the architect of the Capitol is buried in a crypt in the North wall.

    Hi Russ. Tennessee is awesome. have heard of this device called "trackstick" you attach it (strong magnets on bottom of device) to the underneath of your van, turn it on and it uses twelve satellites to make a digital record of your travels. later attach it to your laptop (USB) and download onto a map program. be kind of neat to see and maybe duplicate your road trips :) search google "trackstick" first link is the correct one

    • @uneklyme2638
      @uneklyme2638 3 роки тому +1

      it doesn't have to be on bottom of your van...any where there is metal....if your walking - turn it on and stick it your pocket. about the size of a keychain. it tracks anything that moves. lol
