    I learned two things watching this. I suck at navigating the modeling tools and I suck at texture nodes. hehe the concepts are easier to grasp than the shortcuts and where those are to do the manipulation of the mesh. I think those nodes in texture mode are the most confusing things. Great demonstration of how to get a cool scene from pretty basic structures.

    Could you elaborate a little more on why good topology can be important for pre rendered scenes (1:25)? I get why it is important for real time rendering but not why I would have to focus on this topic in scenes like these...

    • @Rescan
      @Rescan  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah doesn't really matter if you just want to create a quick previs or something for yourself. But in a professional environment I would always recommend to use good topology because its important for texture artists, animators, and everyone else who is involved.

    Not that it makes much difference to the end result, but volumes in Eevee are only cubes. Adding bevels to the geometry of the volume doesn't do anything, as the shader will extend to the bounds of the object, not the geometry. There are plenty of hacks to get around this limitation, but as you have it in this demonstration, it's just superfluous.

    • @Rescan
      @Rescan  3 роки тому +2

      Totally right. Though the same as I watched it again. Bevelling does absolutely nothing. Thanks for pointing it out. Add the volumetric shader directly to the world environment and you're good to go. No need for a volume mesh whatsoever.

  • @foolers94

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!, I love this minimalistic style too, its closer to some futuristic brutalism, idk. Btw, I did everything as you did in the tutorial but it was impossible for me to achieve the glass transparency and other little extras that didn't worked for me, don't know why... but despite that, THANK YOU again.

    • @Rescan
      @Rescan  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks a lot. Had a look into this futuristic brutalism. Pretty impressive architecture but really dark vibes. Concerning the difficulties with the glass shader: Have you enabled alpha blend transparency in the material settings and activated reflections as well as the checkbox for refraction in the render settings?

    • @foolers94
      @foolers94 3 роки тому

      @@Rescan Hey!, sorry for the late. I did everything as you in the tut, haha, but it didn't worked that way, such as the reflections of the glass, also the light point you put inside the 'rooms' i can't see it in my project, like the glass effect isn't working to see thru it, just reflects, and much more, but i'll try to figure out and rewatch the video.

    • @Rescan

      Do you mean in the beginning? I accidentally left the render engine set to evee. Changed that as soon as I noticed. Than it used global illuminatoon correctly. Am not quite sure what you mean. If you can give me a time stamp I might be able to help you. :)

    • @Rescan
      @Rescan  3 роки тому +2

  • @odriden1696
    @odriden1696 2 роки тому +1

    Honestly, I've tried everything exactly and double checked every option and step , but mine doesn't look great at all. It looked like a much lower quality scene. The reflections acted weirdly and lighting inside the room clips through the seams. I don't know if it's because this was an alpha version used in the video and it has been changed, but I've no idea what I've done wrong.
    I might compare it to the project file and see what went wrong. Overall I love your videos man, such amazing renders! I look up to being able to make things like you
    Update: the project file I downloaded looked exactly the same as the video on my computer. I checked my project file and everything is exactly the same in terms of values and shaders, but it doesn't reflect nor look the same. I'm just confused why that's the case even though I'm replicating it a 100%

    a really beautiful tutorial but I ran into a little problem. I am unable to merge the lights of the spaceship (the spot and the two points), and I am unable to create the animation because they do not stick together. How did you do it?

    • @Rescan
      @Rescan  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks :) You can't join meshes amd lights together. Instead select your lights first, and the ship last, then press ctrl+p and parent the lights to your ship. If you move the ship, the lights should follow. You can animate that motion too.
