You can’t be perfect nor expected to be perfect. It was a miscommunication and you handled it like an honorable man! Heck you’re one of the creators that inspired me to make videos! Inspiration is what keeps things moving forward. Keep at it man, you’re one of the best 🤙🏼🔥
Is he talking about the civivi elementum with the proud liners and is uncomfortable as hell in the hand, doesn't look anything like that. All of their stuff looks original as can be. What voodoo is he talking about??
You did the honorable thing by respecting the company with the proprietary design and taking the video down. I think it must take some thick skin to weed through the haters, but you have more than enough people who appreciate what you bring and the knowledge you share with us. "Stay tough 💪 peace!" 🤜🤛
I actually love the chefs knife. They have a couple 67 layer damascus examples on their site as well that are pretty nice, and they're all on sale for like 84 bones which seems like a good bargain. I do love that stabilized wood/epoxy handle too. Pretty impressed overall, but of course i do say this not have had either in hand. Great video Jerad! I think you did their company justice with a very fair review. Well done sir.
Quick question re "slippery" knives. got an SOG assisted like it a lot, but the scales (unknown "plastic" ) are textured but still slippery, Any suggestion to get them a little more grippy. Wipe with acetone or? Sandpaper? Thanks if you have time for this. Froggy.
@1947froggy get some grip tape also known as skateboard tape, or get some sandpaper and rough it up, otherwise you could take some files and cut grooves
I was looking at their site and I don't see any copies. The one is kinda like Thunderbird maybe and one kinda like Nightshade a little but a different knife in my eyes.
I own the Parrot and the Rook. I like ‘em well enough that I’d buy another Fintiso knife. Unless you’re talking about something like the Icon KDP3 / Begg Glimpse situation, you can only make so many blade and handle designs before you begin inadvertently using or intentionally taking inspiration from an existing shape.
Kind of similar, but quite a few differences. Swordfish is longer, but only deployment is rear flipper. Fintiso has the front flipper and whole slot for thumb/spidey flick. Handle shape quite different
Hey bro, you always speak your mind. That's why I keep watching. I want to hear an honest opinion. If something looks like this or that, I want to hear about it. People get all butthurt way too easily these days. Don't let them cramp your style.👊
I came across a “Fintiso Pocket Knife” that is a dead ringer for some Vosteed knives on Amazon. Having never heard of Fintiso and that the materials are aluminum/14c28n and carbon fiber/s35vn for just over hundred bucks I gave them a shot. Turns out I carry them regularly. The action is a bit sluggish (along the lines of Spyderco flippers like the Silverax) but it’s functional and doesn’t fail. Overall for the money I’m pleased.
Got that Parrot like yours and it pretty good. Chillin Cutters look like Vosteed all over the map. I suppose the deeper dive you take in production knives the more they blend in. Thanks for putting in the work. Cheers
There are only so many knife designs you can make before they all start to look the same. And with all these new Chinese companies pumping out 20 designs every year, I don’t think anyone can really complain about “copies” anymore. Counterfeits are a different issue, and is definitely something you shouldn’t support. Knives that look similar to a knife from a company you like doesn’t warrant this “copy” commentary. We are simply running out of combinations in blade shapes, handle profiles, and lock types to make anything truly different from what’s already on the market.
Jared I have an ARS single action OTF gen 3 has a hologram I am not too familiar on how to do the sharpening on this blade if there's a certain angle or degree that I need to use when sharpening on my work Sharp precision adjust
I think you said it best, it’s hard to find a knife that’s not inspired by something else. I don’t think their designs are too similar to vosteed personally.
I own both, they are quite different. Swordfish is longer, only deployment is rear flipper, handle design is a lot different other than the 2 tone g10. Fintiso has front flipper, hole for thumb/spidey flick, not as deep carry of a clip. I enjoy them both!
I like that first design a lot more then the Elementum although I don't like hollow grinds or truly straight-edged Wharncliffe shapes (a little bit of rocker to the cutting edge goes a long way IMO) and that chefs knife looks really cool/nice. Not a fan of the 2nd design, not my thing. in general I'm _SO_ glad to see 14C28N becoming the "go-to" budget steel for so many of these companies. I would rather have 14C (or even 12C27 which I rarely see but love) over M390/20CV or N690 anyway, it really is a GREAT steel regardless of price and for a pocket knife I think high toughness is really key so you can keep a fine edge stable at steeper sharpening angles and then just touch them up on a ceramic rod when they lose their bite. .
Should we call the first one the "elemenguin" or the "penguimentum"? Lol Jokes aside, it is kinda cool. Not a big fan of the clip though. I wonder if the inside edges of the scales are a bit sharp? I have found that on the cheaper knives with aluminum scales. It's just a fit and finish/quality control issue.
Its impossible to keep on top of every design out there and whether a design is a direct copy or inspired by something else can be tricky as well because of it unless you talk to the designers, which in this case you did and removed it, sounds like nothing wrong was done and you went above what many would do as in taking it down. Don't really like the fake jewel in the second one always seems tacky to me as in trying to bedazzle it lol. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
Some of their knives look to me that they're heavily influenced from Vosteed but different enough I'm ok with. Hey... I'll buy that chef's knife from you if you don't care to keep it. Possibly one of the locking knives also? ✌️
The second one is giving me strong Eafengrow vibes for some reason. I'm not really digging the polish. Normally i love a mirror polish, edge or full blade, but this looks like cheap stainless "butter knife" type polish. The "deep carry" clip ain't really deep carry. Just mho.
I bought that first one you shown for a buddy for Christmas. It was OK but the grind and edge were hideous! Huge smile already. I was kinda disappointed
I understand where you're coming from. I just looked at their site and saw two designs that reminded me of vosteed knives. However, they both looked, to me, different enough that I would never mistake one for another. I land more in the camp that there are only so many ways to shape a slicey, stabby object, and most have been done before. Unless something is a carbon copy, I'm not getting my knickers in a knot over some foolish notion of white- knighting for a company that copied their design from something else that came even earlier.
They all look the same after a while . Doesn’t matter . Think about how many knives all look alike . Hardly matters to me . Just make them good and do a damn good heat treat
As a Vosteed fan, the only design of Fintiso's I see that looks really close is the Cobra (Nightshade). Vosteed didn't invent the shilin cutter and with as many variations as they did with the NS, if someone does a cutter design its gonna look like a Nightshade (and it feels lke everyone's coming out with a shilin cutter design). That being said, Fintiso probably should have picked a different hole shape to differentiate it further. It's good that you're being careful, but I bet you're just being overly cautious after the Merriken thing. Keep up the good work.
I am here for the trouble. If anybody would like to start some more trouble please let me know. I really like trouble and I hate hearing about missing out on trouble so if theres still any trouble going around please give me a shout, thanks. Lol
Jared i think there is alot of knives that look alike i seen the cobra looks like the chillin cutter but there alot of knives that look like it at this point there's so many makers everything looks similar that why i liked your design looks like nothing brother I've seen but I believe they are not direct copies of vosteed
You have an honest badass knife/EDC review channel. Fuck the hatter’s and if they can’t take simple criticism then WTF are they doing here. Love your videos and have learned a lot. Keep up the great work. Really like and appreciate the knife designs and excited for more. Been carrying the misdemeanor since I got it. 👍🏻👊🏼
I really don't see any offensive similarities between anything and last seeds catalog, including the shilling cutter. I am pretty obsessively wired in to the production availabilities and I did not draw any links between Fintiso and vosteed. Mainly because fintiso knives look like they are designed by someone who hasn't found the footing yet...they just dont flow. Vosteed for the most part come off as refined designs that have gone through several rounds of revisions before settling on the final production version. The other company may have solid manufacturing but they have a ways to go in terms of design language. They would benefit greatly by collaborating with an established known designer and at the initial offering level that they are without an established fan base, I think they're knives really should be more in the 39 dollar price category. Nearly 60 bucks is going to be hard for a lot of first time purchasers to gamble on an unknown. Can anybody point out what models are similar to vosteed? I just went through their entire catalog and nothing jumped off the page at me. Normally I am pretty aligned with the opinions expressed here but this one I can't get behind.
Their website seems very sketchy, looks like a genaric website made by a non english speaker who doesnt know exactly what they are making the website for. One of the selling points on the 7 layer chef knife is "matte black reduces glare" lol
Only so many ways to make a hamburger. There are blatant rip offs and then there’s really close. Personally don’t like there knives but I absolutely see where you are coming from.
What people NEED to start copying Is the Sencut Actium That blade shape is literal perfection Just needs to be in anything besides D2 Preferably Vanax or Magnacut With a titanium handle A timascus back spacer, milled pocket clip and pivot collars With a button operated inset frame lock With milled fat carbon inlays 🤷🏻♂️ So simple

That first one looks better than the Elementum.
I don't like the Elementum, and I did like this.

Have a lower cost kitchen knife from fintiso in 14c and it has been great for the last year or so.
I actually love the chefs knife. They have a couple 67 layer damascus examples on their site as well that are pretty nice, and they're all on sale for like 84 bones which seems like a good bargain. The chef's knives are the only ones that have any appeal for me, but they don't ship to the UK so it's a pass.
Quick question re "slippery" knives. got an SOG assisted like it a lot, but the scales (unknown "plastic" ) are textured but still slippery, Any suggestion to get them a little more grippy. Wipe with acetone or? Sandpaper? Thanks if you have time for this. Froggy.

The second one reminds me of the sword fish. Like the chef's knife. Good video Jerad. Thanks

That kitchen knife reminds me of a Vosteed design also.
MAYBE the blasted finish could help food not stick, maybe a total guess. IDK anything about chef knives.

True brother I see new knives company everyday it’s impossible to know every knife these days.
That kitchen knife is really nice

That's a good point.
agreed at this point as long as its not A company pretending to be B or insert knives in there. having the endless Options are awesome
I got the Fintiso parrot and it came with a lot of up and down blade play
Second blade is very nice
Yo, You excited to check out the new Magpul Breslau with Metal Injected Molded MVN35 steel? Would love to see you compare it to S35VN.
Great video man 👍

Hit me up on Instagram I will see how I can help send a picture
I went ahead and reopened my account on Instagram I'll hit you up thank you and I appreciate it
I sent you a message hoping that I sent it to the right account on Instagram
I think you said it best, it’s hard to find a knife that’s not inspired by something else. I don’t think their designs are too similar to vosteed personally.
Love hearing the drama😂😂😂
#2 reminded me initially of the Bestech Swordfish with some tweaks in design.
I own both, they are quite different. Swordfish is longer, only deployment is rear flipper, handle design is a lot different other than the 2 tone g10. Fintiso has front flipper, hole for thumb/spidey flick, not as deep carry of a clip. I enjoy them both!

The rhinestones on their knives really kill it for me. Seems like such an odd choice. The parrot is cool though.

Bro, I'm so lost with the whole knife copy story. 😂
Sooooo the qsp pelican and penguin had a baby????
I like the Rook. I did a review of it on my channel a while back.

@David, I think the bot beat you to it. 😂
Yeah I have to block them every video, and after every block next video same bots different name
Dead internet theory is becoming a reality.😳😄
Only so many ways to make a hamburger. There are blatant rip offs and then there’s really close. Personally don’t like there knives but I absolutely see where you are coming from.
I honestly thought a lot of their stuff looked like vosterd stuff as well. Too much that I don't own any of their stuff
What people NEED to start copying
Is the Sencut Actium
That blade shape is literal perfection
Just needs to be in anything besides D2
Preferably Vanax or Magnacut
With a titanium handle
A timascus back spacer, milled pocket clip and pivot collars
With a button operated inset frame lock
With milled fat carbon inlays
🤷🏻♂️
So simple
First
