Woops, looks like I accidentally skipped a number on the list of alternatives! Question for you: Do you have the Amex Gold? Or do you have one of the alternatives?👇
I just canceled my Amex Gold today, and I already have the BCP & Citi Custom Cash & Altitude GO and the USBAR it was such an easy decision to cancel Cash Back for the win redeeming Amex points for Jet blue for less than a cent really was the final nail in the coffin on top of the increased annual fee, great video!
How are you liking the pure cash back from BCP vs transferrable points on the Amex Gold or Citi Custom Cash? Have you done redemptions other than via JetBlue?
@@KevinYang I have had the cash back cards for years, the jetblue is the only redemption I like Marriot and after checking points vs cash the points are worth less than a cent with Marriot as well at the properties I stay, I have been accumulating about 5k a year in cash back putting it in an Apple Savings Account I earn interest and have no point devaluation and now with the USBAR with Apple pay getting 4.5% on travel feel like I'm doing better and not locked into an ecosystem, I pump 8-10k a month through my cashback cards.
Citi card for the win! No annoying credits and much less annual fee. Good video. The Savor One is also good. Both are much better options than the silly Gold card.
Yeahh, unfortunately apart from maybe the Citi Strata Premier, not many other cards with high welcome bonuses... Maybe with the rumored new Citi cards!
Hello! I got the Amex gold for the x4 food and dining categories as we spend significant amounts of money each month, and i found value in all the credits, but i am having a hard time redeeming the points. We travel about 4 times per year, and it s more expensive on the Amex portal. What do you suggest? I am thinking of closing the card as I found more value with my venture x card to redeem hotels, car rentals or flights, but i am only getting x2 on dining and grocery😢 thank you!

@@KevinYang it’s extremely easy to get value out of this card. Have not used my points yet. I’m gonna see if I can save them up along with the bonus from my Blue Business Plus… Planning a family trip to EU… feels a bit crazy in the current geopolitical environment LOL.
@KevinYang Absolutely. My go-to brands are Hyatt and Marriott, but I'm choosy about my redemption. Marriotts, I usually get .9 - 1.1 CPP and Hyatts are usually 2+. It's not as good as international business class flights, but I don't take those trips.
Hey Kevin, I just got an email saying that british airways is offering a 30 percent bonus on transfer of amex points to Avios. I'm not planning on traveling until March. Should I just wait or transfer and take the bonus. Bonus ends at the end of September.
If you're traveling in March, then you could already be searching & booking flights today! But if you don't have plans set yet, I wouldn't transfer just yet. That said, looking at the history of Amex -> Avios, it looks like they typically have transfer bonuses once every year around this time
Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like the best setup for an everyday person is the Chase Sapphire preferred and American venture. Again for someone who is only making roughly $50,000 a year those are probably the best combinations that way you have international travel mixed in with domestic
Anyone who is pre-diabetic or has high cholesterol should not get the Amex Gold. Even though it has groceries, it promotes dining out much more. Dunkin, Resy, and Five Guys is a recipe for bad health.
For a certain group of people (myself included), definitely! But for those that don't qualify, or only find value in parts of the card, there are lots of great alternatives out there :)
@@ozaernajim4315 Im moving overseas and will not be able to use the 4x on grocceries soon, The uber credit, Grubhub credit, dunkin credit, and resy credit also wont work. I dont waste enough money eating out to justify $325. The card is about to make less than 0 sense for me soon and I'll be closing it when the next AF hits. I'll still earn amex points through rakuten and you can access transfer partners with the everyday so im still sitting cool.

The BCP is lame because it's 6% as a statement credit only.
You only get like 4.5% back if you take the annual fee into consideration.
@@eduardoosorio9410 Yup also true. I'd just rather have transferrable points, or true cashback. All about that Flexibility.
Yup that's the trade-off! For some, it may be worth it who have high spend there but don't care about maximizing points via travel
"major significant chunk" well said!
Amex Gold dining credit of $10 is trash in 2024. Inflation is the blame for that. They should had raised the credit to atleast $20 per month.
Just cancel the card. $10 is fine. If it was $20 they’d just raise annual fee.
