    I just got an offer for 175k points. I have the blue card ( I had mentioned to AMX I was going to get rid of it). I think the offer is contingent that I keep that? I haven’t read the fine print. My spending seems fairly similar to yours. Travel a few times a year. Can only afford one or two “big” trips and a few long weekend trips a yr. To get value seems like a bit of work. Rakutan, Upside…not sure I want to add more to the equation. Probably “only” charge 2k a month so I like to accumulate points in one system. I get so much value transferring chase points to Hyatt…it’s tough to complicate that. 175k though is a lot of points. I have an AmX corporate card is a discount off of the annual fee something u have to ask for. They don’t give it to me on my Blue card.

    What is your advice for someone who doesn't care about international travel, expensive hotels, 1st class or business class flights? If you're only traveling across the United States, looking for economy flights, cheaper hotels & you can only plan trips a few weeks in advance, is transferring points out to travel partners even worth the effort? Or is it better to redeem through a portal?

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang 16 годин тому

      I think doing domestic travel you probably only get like 2-3 cpp max for the best cases, potentially using programs like Avios to book AA. It's really up to the individual whether that's worth it, or go for a setup that maximizes cash back, getting 3, 5, or even more % back on most categories

    Amex Gold Card earns flexible points that can be used for travel, used for statement credits, used for gift cards, used for purchases at retail stores. Amex Gold Card can not be replaced by 4% cash back cards. They are not equal.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang 16 годин тому

      For that use case, totally agree! But there's are a fair number of people out there who don't "maximize" points in certain ways, and can get equal value via the other cards!

Hate it when ppl just “talk”. I like joe barreto speak/teach on his channel bcuz he teaches in a way that everyday ppl can “listen” easily to him. He also gives real story telling on his experiences. All these others just talk talk talk on a fast tone as if theyre not remembering that theyre teaching n helping others in a way that others can grasp. It takes time to search for these good/great redemptions so ppl should talk slower with giving their advice adding storytelling so the audience understands. Thx for this as it is helpful 👍🏼

    around 6:50 , Tip: if you find a hotel (or flight) on google that is cheaper than you see it on the C1 portal, you can call the c1 travel number to price-match and they will cover the difference with a travel credit. Sometimes they will even honor the price before fees. $20 is $20 afterall. that's a sandwich!

    Aeroplan gives a 10% transfer bonus when transferring points from chase which I believe you can stack. which means a BC ticket on SQ booked via AC with a transfer bonus comes out 67300 points which is about 6.5 cpp or almost a 20% return on spend assuming points earned are 3x.

    • @KevinYang

    Personally I use the Capital One saver and Capital One venture X combo. With those two cards I'm able to make roughly 100,000 points per year. And I fly economy so I get my most bang for buck and do not mind paying for hotels because especially in Japan and Eastern Europe hotels are pretty cheap. @@coedshowers They exist, but you'll need to be really flexible unfortunately. For example, getting over to Asia on Business class for 60-75k points + $100~ in fees is quite feasible for 1-2 people!

    If you don’t live by a major airport, forget finding these “great international” deals. Also need to be extremely flexible.

      That's where repositioning flights come in! Even being near SeaTac, lots more availability opens up when repositioning to SFO, LAX, and YVR

    Hello! I got the Amex gold for the x4 food and dining categories as we spend significant amounts of money each month,and i found value in all the credits, but i am having a hard time redeeming the points. We travel about 4 times per year, and it s more expensive on the Amex portal. What do you suggest? I am thinking of closing the card as I found more value with my venture x card to redeem hotels,car rentals or flights, but i am only getting x2 on dining and grocery😢 thank you!

    Another thing to consider if you don't travel is points to gift cards. Its expired now but I've heard it usually comes back around every few months, but I managed to get 1.20 CCP for Amex pts. to Apple Giftcards. Also the fees for me flying from LAX to TOK was $650 for ANA Business, so YMMV.

    quick question, I have the Amex business platinum card now. And I wanted to get the Amex trifector. Of personal platinum, gold, and blue business, in which order should i get them?

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang 17 днів тому

      Gold before the Platinum, as having the Platinum will disqualify you from the Gold welcome bonus! The BBP I would say during a time where there's a higher welcome bonus (like targeted for 50 or even 75k)

    I wish Home Depot would use someone beside Citibank for their shopping card but until they do I guess I will continue to shop at Lowe's and the local mom & pop building supplies.
