Lucky in Canada it cost 40 dollars back then. I remember going to the toy store and wanted to get axon but had to settle for a toa inika. Which was 14 dollars.
I remember the Christmas morning when I got this glorious monster. When I first saw him on TV, I knew I had to get him. When I finally did, I didn't touch any other presents, the next few hours was dedicated to building him. To this day, still my favourite Bionicle, and it will be amazing if anything in the new sets would top him :)
@@jasmineirwin7166 if you can get him in good nick, it is definitely worth it. Best of luck finding one friend (also, I can't believe this comment is 6 years old. I was like, 17 when this vid came out lol)
larrisAWSOME lol. I took apart my takanuva for parts as a kid. When I regretted it latter, I remade it with what parts I could find. Couldn’t find pistons so I just used like 3 of those bohrok gear stick thingys for stability. It worked to hold it up but barely and limited articulation to an insane degree Other than that the only issue I had remaking it was that I lost the mask
Is it just me or does Brutaka look more like a MOC than an actual Set? He just looks way too detailed and solid than the other sets... BUT, then again he IS a Titan, so I suppose that's Expected.
Thats legit the first thing i thought when i first saw him. "WHY THE HECK IS THIS GUY SO GOOD? HE IS A FREAKING ORIGINAL SET! IT'S AGAINST THE FREAKING RULES!"
He looks like a moc because nothing on him is intrusive. He dosent have a obligatory yearly launcher, or a cumbersome light up sword, or abundant blue and red pins. Just a solid build.
My favourite titian is Vezon and Fenrak. I love the design and I remember discovering Kardas in the Bionicle comics and trying to build him out of Fenrak and two Brutaka (I didn't have Axxon) without any instructions. It was a mess but still great memories.
The only thing I don't like about Brutaka is that extracting the hidden blades kinda detracts from the overall look of the set. I feel like the blades are an integral part of the torso, as they pretty much simulate Brutaka's back muscles: taking them out turns an otherwise imposing, ripped-off warrior in a skinny, disproportionate guy.
I didn't even know that they were supposed to be another set of arms until I saw them that way in the Bionicle Heroes game. I just thought they were supposed to be his shoulder blades back in the day.
Yeah, so do I... Especially since spines curve. Shame this one doesn't like an actual spine and looks more like something you'd see a scarecrow stuck to, huh?
My favorite titan would be Axonn, but a very, very close second would be Gadunka. I actually think 2007 had the best titans ever with the aforemention Gadunka, Maxilos and Spinax, Hydraxon, Karzahi, and Nocturn, despite being him being fairly forgotten.
Eljays opinion? I saw both Axoon/Brutaka reviews and its sounds that Eljays haves less cons to mencione about Brutaka.Eljay also like the style of Brutaka building and height proporcions, but most of us have to give more credit to Brutaka, in every single way.
Just rebuilt my own copy for the first time in almost 16 years. Pretty sure it's the tallest figure in my collection, and that includes the super robot I spent $300 on
Not that I think anyone will see this, but I’m not too opposed to having “open gappy legs” for the most part, at least in instances like this. I think it gives an almost hydraulic look. Which the pistons very much cater to for me.
I remember my 5 year old self thinking that this guy was the golden piraka. I asked for him for Christmas but ended up getting irnaak instead i was a little disappointed, but i practically worshipped irnaak anyway.
sometimes I still try trick other fans into thinking it still exists, in the meantime I also tried to trick them into thinking there was a jerbraz set you can easily guess how that ended.
Am I the only one who liked the exo toa the best? I also digg Takanuva and toa Lhikan, but that is for the toas and not the actual titan-part of their sets. The boxor comes in on a close second, and the bahrag queens, only because I dont actually own them. Something about those 2002 titans that were just nicely complex, back when bionicle still had enough to do with classic tecnich
2023, just bought a used box of bionicle parts for $20 and i had no idea that the majority of the parts for this beast were in the bottom, only missing some of the technic pieces and the sword
I'm extremely excited for the Maxilos review. I've gotten almost every single bionicle set, and to this day Maxilos remains my favorite. He was the only one my young self never took apart for moc-ing.
In my humble opinion, Brutaka is the best Bionicle G1 set. He looks cool, is built well, the Olmak is such a cool looking mask, and he's so detailed. Plus, gold/bronze and blue just look great (maybe my Ravenclaw bias is shining through)
now that I finally own both maxilos and brutaka I can objectively compare them and I gotta say I prefer brutaka. his legs and overall color scheme are better plus the extra arms on his back. also the biggest problem with maxilos are his slim feet that make balancing difficult at times (comparable to roodaka). however maxilos has spinax which is a big plus. overall I'd still say brutaka is the best titan set. I wanna hold some rahi and vehicles in my hands before judging whether it's the single best G1 set.
Since 2006, this is one of the few Titan Sets that I can officially call a titan without hesitation. He's suppose to be big and LEGO made sure that they built him to looked like it. As for the daggers, while I'm not a huge fan of them, I don't dislike them. To be honest, I just kept them folded on Brutaka's back and forgot that they were appendages. XD
my favorite one was brutaka because on my maxilos the elbow joint cracked and me not at the time having parts to fix it took apart maxilos I still regret it to this day

Brutaka and Kardas. The only problem I had with Kardas was the somewhat haphazard color scheme and the somewhat anticlimactic wings, but for being a combiner set it couldn't have been better. Brutaka still looks better on the whole because he's his own set.
I remember distinctly buying two of these guys and neither one came with his weapon pieces of all things. The mask and all the other parts were still there. Weird quality control issue for me specifically.

I think he is better than Axonn. Axonn's body is out of proportion as his hands are way to big. Brutaka like axon had actual finger hands that fit his size rather than using the metru hands with no fingers and are much smaller for a titan of his size. I like his color scheme more, and his torso looks more like a human torso than axonn's does. Most of the cons you mentioned are all very minor.
