Her first royal engagement was with the Queen and she ignored the advice of one of the Queen's advisors that it was a hat day as part of it was outside. You would have thought as a new Royal she would have followed this advice, but no she did not. She wore no hat or coat and the Queen had to give her a blanket to help keep her warm during travel. Her hair looked messy and she did not even know protocol even though she had been given advisors and a full dossier.
Meghan actually lied about the Queen sharing a blanket with her, if you look at the pictures of them in the car. It was Kate that the Queen shared her blanket with when they did their appearance together. Meghan appropriated the story for herself.

She was aware of protocol, she was taught and she was offered the opportunity to engage with more experienced people. She was briefed prior to engagements AND she had people to ask for assistance for clarity. She had access to stylists. She chose to ignore them all.
It is reported that the Queen sent a note to Meghan after the appearance telling her that her hair was too messy. Worded different. Meghan was furious that she got a note rather than a personal talk. Staff told her that this was how it was done.
Her hair did not only look dirty, the wind flipped her extensions to the other side and exposed bald patches and her natural scraggly, thin hair. She looked all the way the idiot she is talking with her hands and to the air while being ignored by the late Queen and Samantha The Panther behind her, grimacing, pursing her overfilled lips and her extensions all flipped over.
What does smegaliar's career and sparry's head have in common? Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Her hair always looks awful but the absolute worst was her wedding day look. In the pre-wedding “tiara tantrum” much was made her flying in her “personal hairdresser” from Paris to practice doing her hair with the tiara but on the day itself it didn’t look like a hairdresser had been anywhere near her. It looked like she had just shoved it up in a “messy bun” and plonked the tiara on top.

Yup. All that dress, a 60 foot long veil, a tiara worth $100,000 she slaps it on her head and tucks her straggly hair behind her ears. And she was good to go.

Some people with thicker hair that isn't as easily manageable are super concerned about making sure it doesn't go wild in the wind and change it from and end up frizzy. That could be why she's always adjusting it

Unfortunately as Megsie thinks she's so gorgeous, she sees no faults when she looks in the mirror. She is the perfect choice when it comes to demonstrating how not to do stuff as she gets so many things wrong. When she was on royal outings, she often looked atrocious and ignoring the rules like wear a hat, keep to certain colours, wear proper foundations etc, was very disrespectful and ignorant.
I always hated MM’s messy buns when she was in the RF, very disrespectful I think. This red dress and hair was just dreadful.

It seems like any kind of protocol she was asked to follow she did the exact opposite. I guess she knew better and wanted to stand out for the sake of attention. As long as it's attention it doesn't matter if it's good or bad!!!! True narcissist!!!
Markle's fashion problems are that she is an actress (Not a good one) and she's following the dictates of Hollywood fashion as opposed to good fashion. There is class in the way the Royals dress (especially the Princess of Wales) and they still manage to be fashionable. Markle wears the kind of clothes you would see show business, crass and ugly. She choses that over what she was advised to wear in the UK, no doubt, but she chose to have bad clothing styles and worse hair styles.
I have never in my life seen a major Hollywood star consistently dress as badly for her figure as Meghan does for hers. So, no, I don't think she's following the "dictates" of Hollywood fashion, because she's not a rule-following sort of person at all. She probably thinks she knows better than any stylist in Hollywood OR in England.
I wonder if she's trying to channel the Met Gala red carpet looks, which run from strange to weird to WTH?
But that's the point of Met Gala fashion AT the gala. The celebrities who show up in those outfits don't dress like that off the red carpet.
And in spite of the weird factor, the styles work because they appear within the setting of an event where those styles are expected.

her hair at the walk about with william and catherine cracked me up. she had ponytail extensions in the day before and took them out thinking she was going to ride home in a private jet in a bun and then clearly had to blow out her suddenly much shorter hair in a hurry. she ended up with a wonky part and frizzy hair 😄

Whenever I see that dress I cannot actually believe she left the house, and looked happy about it. Her white hair parting, with all that bronzer, she looked terrible

That red rag was really worthy of several critical articles. It took true art to show up in something too tight in some areas and too baggy in others. Plus, it seemed to show up her least attractive points of her figure - over-wide shoulders, small breast was flattened or lost in fabric, lack of waist and scrawny legs. The hairdo did not help, but it never really does for Markle.
And the obvious tan/bronzer lines

I would straight up burn a dress that gave me that much of a back fat roll effect. The neckline is explicitly sexy and then when you turn around, it’s Muffin Back? No no no.

A ballerina bun is too severe on Meghan. I don't like the messy bun either at a royal function. The wedding hair was ludicrous. When you combine that hair with a tight dress that she's bulging out of, the whole look is that she's squeezed like a toothpaste tube. I hate to say it, but if she copied Catherine (they have long faces) it would be a soft, face framing look.

One of the worst ( imo) slicked back hairstyles was Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscar look. I thought it looked too severe going with the pink ball gown ( which just emphasized her flat chest).

And all I could think was that it looked like she'd put no effort into her hair at all. I cannot believe she used a stylist to do it for the wedding!

I hadn’t really paid much attention to her until the wedding…I remember watching the wedding and wondering why she didn’t have a hair stylist do her hair for such an important event…and then I heard that she did indeed have a stylist do her hair and I thought “ that was the best they could do?” 🤷🏼♀️

That red dress was MM's most egregious fashion mistake on every level including the occasion.
Many people with long hair don’t really know that it doesn’t suit them, they think it’s enough just to have long hair
And many can't keep up with the cost of haircuts, and styling, so default to longhair out of economic need. To even simply get inches trimmed off my covid hair at one of those magic clips places they add 30.00 to the regular fee because the hair is below the shoulders, even though they are to simply cut off say 2 inches straight across. To go to a stylist for layering and shaping its 150.00 before any highlighting or additional care. So yes many of us know we don't suit the long hair, but have no choice.
@@joywebster2678Yeah, ya do have a choice. Many of them. I wore my hair up in a rope braid for decades and consistently received compliments. There are many styles for long hair on older women but the best styles ensure the hair is worn up in some kind of lovely braid. Keep your length of course but learn how to braid and twist. It looks neat and keeps it out of your face all day.
@tundrawomansays694 well I've notvmastered braiding after trying since a teen. I use clips to hold. Many of us don't master intricate updos and so it's a simp,e twist, ponytail, or clip holder. Glad you have talents.

Getting your long hair done “right” (ie, not open to criticism) costs upward of 200 minus tip these days, but keeping it shorter requires even more regular maintenance $$$

I think that Meghan's prettiest and softest looks were during Suits. She had healthy looking hair that didn't overwhelm her. If she feels the need to use extensions, she needs to use them sparingly to have a natural appearance. It's not pretty when Meghan looks like she is wearing a wig.

@judithhall6683 No wonder, considering the damage being done by the clips on the extensions, the dye, and the chemicals used to straighten it. Also, pulling hair back tightly, and often, can really damage the roots. No doubt the heat and chemicals used to straighten her hair can't be great for it either. In contrast, Catherine's hair is truly her crowning glory.
I wonder what she would look like with her hair natural and well-hydrated. Lush curls, I'm guessing which might suit her.
There are computer programs/apps that let a person try different hair styles and types onto a photo of themselves.
That might make an interesting topic to explore.
It is almost sad the degree to which MM misses the mark with her look, especially with access to stylists and well-made clothing, Do you think it is more a reflection of low self esteem, even with her self-focused tendencies?
The one thing I will say in support of MM is that I can’t imagine how hard it would have been to come in after Catherine who is tall, pretty, graceful, with long thick hair and a naturally slender frame. That would be a lot of pressure for sure! However, MM seemingly went out of her way to constantly break the dress code and tried to compete with Catherine rather than set herself apart as her own person.
I don’t think low self esteem is at play, I suspect it’s an overinflated sense of her strengths. Thinking she is the best talent there is, so ignore lesser talented advisors.
I think she does have an odd combination of low self-esteem and very inflated, high opinion of herself. She’s so awkward and fidgety and slumped, she clearly doesn’t have much internal pride of a genuine sort. She’s always looking furtively around yo check for what others think of her. She’s skittish and insecure. But her arrogance and haughtiness and looking down on others gets combined with that in a really awful way. It is sad that she has no real developed self, it seems.
Narcissists don't see themselves as they actually appear. My late father was often mistaken for the stereotypically dressed hobo, but if anyone asked him about his clothes, he would say he looked well put together.

My narcissistic mother would sometimes dress well, and sometimes wear her “gardening clothes”, and think she looked cute in them. People would comment on her gardening clothes appearances. I wonder if other narcissists do this weird ugly clothing behaviour?
As a mature woman, 63, I know many contemporaries who like those tightly-pulled back styles for the “face-lift effect”, but I don’t think they are that flattering. Jennifer Lopez does this a lot, too, but it’s just too severe, making women actually look older, not younger.
You’re right. Older women can absolutely have long hair. But please, learn how to twist, braid and *wear it up* without intentional “tendrils.” Otherwise all we need is a broom. Older women look even more antique with long hair worn down.
My "ballerina" hair ended in my early 50's where gravity gifted me with jowls, and I am really thin. What is this woman EVER thinking? I feel like she opens Vogue, or Elle, stops on a photo, and her decision is made, regardless of the differences between her face, and the models...
Edit: Thank you Mom, that at 60, my cheekbones could still cut glass, these "styles", on M. are laughable. I lived near New Haven, CT where some of the best stylists of the 80's worked (near NYC). I saved for months, to pay for the services that helped MY hair, match my face...You are 100%, Spot on! TY Soho Salon and Jamie, 40 yrs later.

Markle really has linebacker shoulders. The problem is...she thinks they're her best features!
When I was still living at home, my mom hated her broader shoulders. However, I eventually came to realize that models usually have broader shoulders! I was surprised. Their stronger frame allows fora greater variety of clothing to look good on them. So even though they usually aren't seen as classicaly feminine, broad shoulders can actially be quite desireable.
I am still very much a novice about fashion and which clothes look good on the different body types, so I might be wrong about this. But it seems like Meghan does not understand that she needs to wear things that minimize het shoulders or draws the eye away from them. It is a given that strong shoulders are going to be seen. 🙂 So imo, she needs to focus on bringing her other less noticable features into the spotlight.
@@Jen7867it’s all about proportion, too. MM’s shoulders are too wide for her very short torso and relatively short body; broad shoulders in a tall, slender woman are wonderful for wearing and showing clothes to best advantage. I’m afraid MM doesn’t have the gift of a model-like frame.

on average Black women have more bone and skeletal muscle mass than white woman on average. also a lower body fat percentage.

@@ashajones7323 Michelle Obama has great arms; proportioned to her body, muscled and toned and lean. Her strength and litheness are great. No so with Markle; her arms are totally different. They are disproportionately long, thin, not well-muscled, and not strong. It’s part of why her shoulders look so wide, but it’s also that her back is very wide for her frame, and she has a short neck and very short waist. I don’t see a lot of women with that particular combination of features. Black women are not more likely to have a fire plug torso with extra long skinny arms and skinny legs. I’m just talking proportions, which are pretty universal, and not tied to race.
And I said tall and slender, not small. Not delicate. Not petite. For really wide shoulders, you need length somewhere to balance it out. Proportions are my point. She doesn’t have it.

I don't live in the United States... I'm Brazilian, but Meghan was very superb on her wedding day. In addition to the French hairdresser she spent taxpayers' money. She walked into the chapel, without a rug, because she wanted a rug like Kate's. Being divorced, the Queen said she would have to use a blue rug and said she didn't want a rug. When the king suggested that he might walk her down the aisle, she replied that she would meet him halfway. All members of the family were horrified by the impudence and to make matters worse she chose to wear pure white and tails, despite being divorced. Betinha's wedding photos say it all!

@@chrisf1202 I had curly hair until my 20’s. I always admired those women who had those tight curls and ringlets almost shoulder length. It looks so lovely. Meghan could do that. It’s such a soft but trendy look. She looks so severe with all this straight hair.

Thank you again Beebs. I’m discovering that I’m hearing your advice when I’m shopping for clothes and I know I’ll be hearing it again when I’m trying to work with my hair. I wouldn’t complain if you you demonstrated a couple of simple styles for long hair. I seem to have a difficult time getting my mane to look stylish and not just a mess, but it needs to be easy and simple. Thanks, have a great Labor Day holiday!
Oh I definitely hear Beebs in my head when I shop. Not in a bad way, a considerate and caring way. And I definitely think first before I buy now. I’m an hourglass figure and her tips definitely helped. Love you Beebs! Happy Birthday weekend!!!!

Her hair drives me crazy! She must be covered in extensions and the tendrils and messy bun are a miss on Meghan, especially during the few minutes she was a ‘working’ Royal. Like you, I’d suggest she go shorter, thin it out a bit, soften the color and stop wearing her hair on her face.
Princess of Wales has abnormally beautiful hair. Not fair to compare anyone to her.

The thing I hate about her hair is that it always looks like it is in need of a trim. Those pokey ends look stupid--I know that's the style now but when I was younger, it was a clear sign that it was time for a trim. Also, that loose, backward curl style is awful--on anyone and for awhile that was the only style anyone wore. It looked like the laziest style imaginable. We shouldn't really care...

I have very short hair; totally open and showing my whole face, all sides of my neck, my ears, etc. It could be severe without a full face of make up, earrings, etc. But I always say, “you have nowhere to hide when your hair is this short.” So it def think Meghan uses her hair to hide from what she perceives as a world full of haters who don’t realize how wonderful she really is. In reality, it is messy, overwhelming, and unprofessional. Her hair on that engagement with the Queen yielded dozens of photos that prove what the Queen and staff had been trying to teach her: that under-done hair photographs terribly. A hat provides protection from the wind wreaking havoc with you while you are sitting on the podium. The hairstyles that work with a hat are more structured, and you won’t photograph so poorly. If your hair is polished and under control, every.single.photo.of.you. won’t have you HANDS IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE or all up in your hairline! And this isn’t just for royals…Hollywood knows this and uses this too. You never see A-listers doing those absurd hair fusses during public appearances. We talk about Angelina Jolie’s epic thigh-high split on the red carpet, or Zendaya’s latest look, but you won’t see them with their hands all up in their hair constantly. Blecccch
That Markle, red harlot gown look was all wrong, top of the head to the floor. I'd never noticed how poorly the "gown" was fitted around her cups! Does this woman own a dressing mirror????? Basically, it looks like she has (sewn) darts leading into the cups!

I always thought the tendrils make your face look softer, but it's for a casual personal activity or at a party not at work like Meghan often did during her time in UK. The baffling part was how the media (probably her PR spin) drooled over her messy look, trying to convince us she was effortlessly stylish.
You make very good points, Beebs. For me, Meghan's tendrils always look like worms hanging around her face. Her messy wedding hair made me want to FedEx a brush and comb to her with instructions for use. I think Meghan's hair is indicative of her. She doesn't want to connect with others. She wants to be a mystery that others have to figure out. Personally, for me, she's not worth figuring out. Her hair says it all. Bad bad bad.
To me it always looked as though she thought she was “sexy” as well as trying to hide behind her hair.

You can tell Meghan doesn’t listen to stylists: that red dress was an amateur move. Even with the baby weight she couldn’t have been more than a size 6 yet the dress made her look plus size.

I would be so bad as a royal lmfao. I hate my hair. Its flat. Wont hold a curl, i look like an egg if i put it up. I wiuld just buy a nice wig and use that. But atleast Im self-aware (unlike a certain someone)
My family has genetic trait of baby fine / quite thin hair. It’s a huge challenge to deal with because of how limited we are with what we can do.
Years ago it hit me that no one seems happy with their hair.
I have thick hair that is wavy in some places, straight in others and tightly curled in others. I've worn it super short and past my shoulders. When it's been long I could sit doing nothing and it would develop tangles.
My sister has very fine, stick straight hair that couldn't hold a curl if her life depended on it. We called it Christie Brinkley hair when she was a child because she that was during the height of CB's modelling career.
I always wanted her hair and she wanted something that had some body and volume.
Somewhere along the way we grudgingly came to terms with our lot.
I feel like I mentioned this in a past comment but most of the time people do look good with extra fullness to their hair. But Meghan is 1 person that I think actually looks much better without them. I genuinely can’t think of anyone else that I feel this way about. But she actually had great hair before she could afford the expensive extensions.
She should stick a pencil in that messy bun and walk around with a clip board. At least that way she would look important. (kinda)

I have stick-straight, slick, fine hair. I watch videos of messy buns, casual buns, loose buns, and it blows my mind that anyone can just gently tug on it to make it soft and feminine, and it’ll still hold its shape. For me, it has to be slicked back ballerina tight, or it’ll just fall apart 😭
Sometimes, if one builds it while ones hair is wet, it will expand but tighten its grip within the hairstyle as it dries.
Depends on the type of hair but it might be worth a try.
Same here! Especially when my hair is just washed it is too silky to stay put, need a ton of hair spray even to make a nice ponytail or flyaways everywhere...
My hair is very fine and silky too and I've found my best homemade up-dos are when my hair is wet. And then hairspray 😂

Similar hair type to yours, except I have lots of it and with it being fine it is a recipe for flat hair. Hairdos look better when the hair has a bit of grip to it, so either when it's not freshly washed or using some texture spray. Curling also helps hairdos look better because, once again, it gives the hair some natural texture.
When I was a child my mum always told me to do my hair in either pony tails or plaits but never to have it loose, because it would just get in the way and it looks very unkempt. I told my daughters the same thing. Even now I will always put my hair in something neat so it doesn’t fly around.
Id love your take on MMs latest fashion at the Beyonce concert where she wore a skirt made out of aluminium foil. Totally agree that hair makes such a difference in the whole presentation of an outfit for an event. I dont know who is responsible for Princess Catherine's hair, but they deserve a medal. As someone who has a similar face shape, I find Ellie Kemper is a great guide on how to handle that more prominent jawline. I oddly don't mind it and find it can be youthful looking.

I bet she would look great with it. It’s a lot of upkeep to change the hair you’re born with. I’m not any different, I remember perming my mostly straight hair.
My hair is pin straight, I did perm it for a while but it never looked right, in the end I just understood that my hair just wasn't meant to be curly, and grew it out. Now at least it's very healthy lol!

@@danyf.1442the trick is to have a loose perm, use larger rollers, it just gives hair more body and it can then hold a style. My hair was straight and fine but age has changed it. It’s now thicker and wavy. I have it short and hardly need to do anything to it

Her hair just always looks dirty to me. It should be shining like a ravens wing! It does not reflect light, due to being fake or badly matched extentions. If one looks close, you can see the 3/4 cap of hair that is pinned on, or many separate extentions lately. No shine, looks dirty.

My upper body/arms are v similar to MM and it’s been helpful as hell as I’m wedding shopping online. I’ve been able to Taylor in the looks I can go for and eliminate the ones that will be less flattering! Also…the advice you’ve given I’ve noticed from outfits I already own/owned the suggestions you’ve made are true for instance a shirt that goes off one shoulder looks great or tank top straps that are thicker (not too thick in my case) work as well. I just wanted to mention this in case ppl are giving you any heat for just using MM for an example. It’s helped me in many ways not just the things we have in common. ❤
My hairdresser and I have spent time discussing my needs as a older outside worker, who needs hats all year round, I can french plait by myself, the haircut allows me to have a fringe due to my high forehead, plus a few short side pieces that i can curl to soften the sides of my face, if using clips to do soft updos.
Of course much of her hair isn't her own. If you watch the infamous 'curtsy' clip you can clearly seen where the hairpiece attached to the back of her head stays rigidly in place. I liked her Oprah interview hair the best, it showed off her inherent meanness and spite to its full potential.
