In their latest music video "Desperate Troubadours" Sawyer Brown is once again going cross country this time in a Volkswagen van, and with the exception of having five guys there four with the addition of Shane Hill playing the guitar, the whole video is in black and white.
Dave Dudley did this song in the 1960s. Johnny Rivers also covered this. It's a great song. One of the songs about truck driving, but this video doesn't reflect that. It's still an awesome cover. Thanks for sharing this song reaction. Cheers, Don! ✌️
What a great way to start the day! This video captures SB perfectly and it reflects a lot of the energy of the times (the great 90s). I'll bet they did this one in concert one night just for fun and it caught on so well with the audience that they worked it up for real. Anyway thanks for the great choice and super reaction Don!!!
This is actually a cover. Originally recorded by Paul Davis in 1961, was a #2 Billboard hit for Dave Dudley in '63. It's also been covered by George Jones, Steve Earle, George Thorogood, Jim Croce and many more. It's a truck driver's song, hence the line about dodging the scales.
I think Dave Dudley’s version is the best. The Flying Burrito Brothers / Gram Parsons also did a pretty good cover. It’s about a long haul trucker heading home.In that regard, this video does the song a disservice. IMHO
This is probably the best cover of this song.

Boy I know this song well, but honestly don't remember the Sawyer Brown version of it or this video. Looks like this had to be early in their career.

Taj Mahal also covered this song. It's a great song, and I can see why it's covered so much.
Ya, he made it better
@@dwaynewladyka577 I love his "Fishin Blues"
One of the best cover songs out there
Steve Earle does a great cover of it
Yes, it's a cover, but they do a great job. SB is the best. Have seen them over 300x in concert, but I have friends who have seen them in the 1000s.
During the time the song was originally written, Pittsburgh was considered a unpopular place
# 15 The song was referring to that it was a truck driver.
Dave Dudley does this best
Saywer Brown's version was the first I heard ; then I listened to the Original by Dave Dudley. Please at least listen to his version.
