Thank you for that VERY detailed explanation of how to assemble the AI & TI! I especially like how you didn't skip over or fast-forward through any important details.

Great boats and a very good video. My only complaint with the Adventure / Tandem Island series are the break away bolts used on the struts. Like many other owners, after suffering failure over time from general use I upgraded mine to stainless and never looked back. HOBIE purposely uses the breakaway bolts for novices which of course helps to avoid damage to the AMAS during out of control hard dock or beach landings. The problem is that the bolts eventually do fail and many of us have taken our AI / TI into rough seas and under such conditions I can almost guarantee you that the breakaway bolts will give out and its usually at a critical / dangerous time. Flipping over in rough seas / shark infested waters is NOT desirable!!!!! HOBIE should include a bag with two stainless bolts, washers and nuts with a note explaining the use of the breakaway bolts with the advantages and disadvantages of them giving experienced users the option to upgrade to stainless with experience. Again, this is NOT a major criticism but an important one that should NOT be taken lightly. If you do not believe me, flip an AI or TI in bad conditions and watch how quickly your possessions sink to the ocean floor while everything else floats away while you panic and struggle to gain the composure to get everything back under control. For what it is worth, I have been sailing for over 45 years and have just a little bit of experience and if you are older like many AI / TI owners are, you do not want to have a heart attack pulling yourself back onboard especially if you are past your prime. Other than that. I think the invention of the AI / TI series is one of the best ideas that Hobie ever came up with and I'm sure that Hobie Alter looks down upon them with many smiles!!!!

Hey! I just got my new TI!!!! ...I have a question.... Is there any reason to NOT glue the batten caps to the ends of the battens? I already lost one off the main 3/8" batten, (I think it got snagged as I was taking the sail out of it's storage bag) and it seems like just gluing them on would be an easy way to prevent that from happening ever again.... Unless there's a reason not to.

Hi guys have a 2017 tandem island and on a trip yesterday it took a fair amount of water into the hull. I would estimate 3-5L. Any ideas where I could start checking to trouble shoot this? I've had it out in the ocean on at least 4 trips and have only ever taken very small amounts. Cheers

Hello, I'm wondering: is possible to paddle while the stabilizers are folded? Thank you.

Hi... I find the tiller difficult to use. In heavy winds, my AI wants to go right into the wind and it takes all the strength my wrist has, to keep the boat off the wind- especially on the port tack. Any ideas?
