  • Fun sail from Sea Isle to Corson Inlet and the Atlantic Ocean in a Hobie Tandem Island sailing kayak.
Stiff wind conditions and a bit of chop.
Used a dry suit for safety.
    Enjoy the 4K video!

I was thinking "No James, what are you DOING?" When you pulled up the daggerboard before furling your sail.
Then nothing crazy happened because of the good downwind, and your beaching would make even James Bond blush with awe.
    Great stuff!

Thanks for the comment. Love your TI videos. Great location. Yes, with the currents near the shoaling inlets you need to be decisive in navigation and beaching. Many more TI videos coming soon.

Nice sail. Enjoyed the video. I am a bit envious of the motor. Can see how it could definitely be a safety feature.

Yes, the motor adds a big safety factor. I always sail with the motor when sailing offshore or in waters with currents (tidal or rivers or both in this case).

Amigo una pregunta, usted siente que el peso del motor le perjudica al equilibrio? Y si cree que la vibración podría romper el soporte o dañar el kayak?

We really enjoy the day when we sail anything above 6mph/10 kmh. As you are furled, you must have had a great stiff wind! Enjoy!

Yes - wonderful day. Wind was blowing 15-20 mph. Got close to 10 mph on reaches with the 1-2 mph tidal currents in my favor. Had the sail furled down when in the Atlantic Ocean and in the back bays moving up wind. Fun day. Many more videos coming....I have over 20 sails that I have not processed yet....soon a few more will be kicked out.

@@seewind your ability to show us your route and speed really adds to the videos! the one important add I made to ours was an electric sump pump. your craft looks pristine! regards

Yes, I have seen a few of the electric sump pumps.... so far the manual bilge bailer works for me.

Nice sail, Jim. I see that you avoided taking on the breaking waves this time - they look like they could have been nasty.
Are you powering your cameras with auxiliary batteries? What is working best for you?
Thanks for sharing this adventurous sail, it's always good to see you out sailing. My boats are stored away for the winter in Minnesota and Michigan. Hope to see more of your videos soon. I enjoyed the Fano videos too - absolutely amazing kites!

Thanks for the comments. Yes - I tried to stay out of the breakers this time. Need to be careful and I had a bit of a sail remaining to get back safely to the boat ramp. Been stuck out in the Atlantic a few times with bits on the TI not working...not fun shooting the shoals with a hamstrung TI. Motor adds a big safety margin. As for powering the cameras... I used to use GoPros and Garmins with external power but the salt water got to them over time. I have reverted to GoPro Hero 10 Black cameras with the longer play batteries. Holding up much better in the salt water. I got a backlog of over 20 TI videos to process.... hope to kick out a few more shortly. Yes kites in FANø are amazing! Enjoy the ice fishing.... part of my family is from Michigan and Wisconsin....

@@seewind Looking forward to your upcoming videos.
I bought a Hero 8 this summer after I drenched one of my old ProScans while sailing on my AI. I only get about 35 minutes out of the GoPro battery vs over 2 hours with the ProScan. Clearly, the GoPro does a lot more but I need to figure out a better power source and still keep it waterproof.

Yes, external power setup can run all day long. I used to do this but have moved away due to saltwater finding a way into the camera ;-( I have settled on using the newer GoPro (10 black in my case) and with the stronger battery. I now selectively turn on cameras as needed using my cell phone to control the cameras. Voice control is iffy with the large amount on water noise while under sail.
