Just an FYI but you don't need that ground wire that you pointed out for the wiper it'll run without it. It's a double ground. Also the only thing you may want to keep on the fender well is the horn relay The rest of them can go The first one is a high altitude compensator so you don't need that anymore either. I covered this in my video as well. ua-cam.com/video/sazb_p9OH-s/v-deo.html
@@FlakeGarage Some have even taken the fender off, and ran the wires on the outside between the fender and the other, for an even cleaner look. You can relocate the horn relay to somewhere else as well.
Great video. I wish I could find a video on what all vacuum lines and wiring i can remove from my Isuzu pup cause I've already switched my stock carburetor to a weber carburetor.
Do you know what wires move to the right? I recently acquired a 89 b2200 and I did this mod. The reason I ask is because I need to know if it connects to check engine light etc.
New to this bro I have a 87 Dodge Ram 50 I’m doing a weber carb on mine and by watching this video so technically u can do ecu delete only if using the Weber carb
I'm not familiar with the Ram 50/Mighty Max but being from the 80s there's a chance you could remove the ecu after doing the swap. What I recommend is to swap the weber and leave the wiring in place. Then disconnect just the ecu and drive the truck around town to see how it reacts. If nothing is different, you might be able to just get rid of it
I was gunna ask the same thing! I have an 1988 Mitsubishi mightymax which is the same as the ram50 and ect. Important from Japan and everything. Inside the engine bay I already have the weber cab and I've talked with my mechanic and technically because it's past a certain year they don't require to check for emissions and all that. Mines past inspection with no issues but I want to clean up my engine bay as well, but the mess is all on the right side of the engine bay where the carb is located. I have a 4speed automatic 2.0L rwd
im finishing someone elses sbc v8 swap and the wiper wires got cut yeah me do you know if that wiper harness goes straight to the wiper switch or some wiper relay and how many wires are in that loom they and mine looked blue with green n other color stripes thanks awesome videos
Temperature gauge works just fine for me even after recently upgrading all hoses and radiator. I'd check your sender and the wiring to make sure they are working correctly
I have some wires that go off to the right with the wiper wires, about 6 of them, according to the PDF service manual, there are a few I need like the coolant temp sensor and the inhibitor switch, do these need to be hooked back up?
Oh no no no! PLEASE do not throw away working ECUs! Somebody, somewhere will need it. Please, at the least, offer it up to a fellow Mazda homie who can use it.
I do wonder if in many cases it would be easier to know which few wires need to stay, cut everything and put a few new wires in, saving a whole lot of time.....
Yeah for sure there might be some cases where that is better. Usually stereo/speaker installs is where it’s just easier to run new cables, here it would make sense if inside the cab the dashboard is off
love your videos, they are very helpful as i am trying to turn my 1990 mazda B2200 into a cool mini truck. i got my weber installed and i;m about to remove all the wires from the stock carb. next will be the headers. i also want to do 4in. blocks in the back and drop spindles in the front.
Hey Flake Ok so I did everything you showed in this video literally step by step and I did not proceed further than what you did until I got to the same step you where on.. Now fast forward to after the removal of everything, I have a 1988 b2200 and I did everything you said and “tried”to take it on a test drive and my starter did turn over anymore 😐?? Do you by any chance know what could’ve happened… other than the obvious that my starter could’ve just quit by coincidence at the same time of doing this…..
You didn’t cut any other wiring right? I’d trace your wires in the starter. As far as I know that wiring follows a different path vs the ecu wiring we cut out. Make sure all your other plugs are connected correctly
@@FlakeGarage OK I figured out it was my starter I did a few diy tests. Also before that I traced the wires and they where all good. So after doing some of my own diy testing I took it to my local auto parts store and they had confirmed that my solenoid was going out (Aka it wasn’t strong enough to make the starter motor run causing only clicking). So following that got a new starter and she’s back up a running again 🥳 🙌. Just a PSA to everyone MAKE SURE TO GET WARRANTY it just helps incase this ever happens. Lol 😂
Electric Fan conversion next? When I did mine...in 2002...I took the pulley bracket off, and cut the pulley mount, then put bracket back on. Opened up a few ponies. All you'd need to do is measure the size belt you need. String, or wire in the belt's place and take a measurement. While you're at it, toss in a high amperage, 1-wire GM alternator. I think it's about 140 amps. And 1 wire. Also, the fuel filter, I used one that was tube-like. Not the clear tube that you can change the filter inside, I've had BAD experiences with those. But it's the same size...I had mine mounted to the firewall next to heater hose. It made a big change as well. My truck was air bagged, and I removed the inner fenders, so I relocated or tossed as much as I could. I miss it...I'd give up my bagged silverado for a bagged LS-Swapped B-series. Any day of the week, lol. You're doing great work, keep it up!
An electric fan is definitely something I been wanting to do as well as upgrade the alternator since it seems to be a weak point. What did you do about ac and the relays for it to come on and off?
I wouldn’t go from efi to a carburetor personally. The upgrade to a Weber is for those that had the factory carburetor. Only advantage is less moving parts and no computer but you have more reliability in the efi system no matter where you are vs having to adjust a carburetor depending on the weather
That's a fact, Jack! EFI trumps carburetor for every day drivability. However, if your ECU breaks, transitioning to a Weber carb is a great alternative.

Were they wires that were hooked onto the ECU or completely separate wires? Any other wiring that is not hooked to the ecu should stay intact
Is this Smog Legal in CA?
No
what mic are you using? sounds good.
Wireless go 2 from Rode
Ever have issues with brake lights?
I haven’t had any with the lights so far. I’d check bulbs first, fuses and last trace your wiring and make sure it’s all good
What’s the Weber install accomplish?
It helps the engine breathe better and makes it easier to diagnose when issues appear. Check your local laws though

No
You said pass Inspection for what smog check?
I don’t live CA and this most likely won’t pass smog check. Check your local laws
I'm in Cali and you have to get it forcefully smogged lol I pay like 250 and they will make it pass without the car even being there lol

May iask are you still using the ignition module and where is located
I could be wrong but the Ignition module for the Mazda b2200 is inside the distributor as far as I know
