The main purpose of looking at the future is not prediction but to be better prepared and to imagine new possibilities. Consider following Bill Gates' advice of spending one hour per day thinking about the future, which will help you shape it. Observing and paying attention enables us to come up with ideas and find ways forward.
In 2023 I made a film called 'Twice Upon a Time' see • Twice upon a time: Our... which portrays both a dystopian and a utopian vision of 2030. By 2030, we will have 10 billion people on the planet and we must feed them all. 8 billion people will be connected to the internet. AI will play a significant role - but it will still be a tool and morally neutral until used. The green economy is expected to be 10 times larger than the fossil fuel economy, and we might be able to significantly slow down or even reverse global warming. The concept of global governance might also come into existence by 2030.
