Wish I had one! The difference in proof would surely make it stand out too, might not be fair.

Nice video. How about Rebecca Creek Double Barrel Bourbon Spanish Oak, which I like, that cost less than the Peerless, Starlight, and Pursuit United? Also, how about Lucky Seven Holiday Toast although might cost more than the rest?

I’ll keep an eye out, don’t think Rebecca Creek has made its way to my area. Lucky Seven is around but haven’t seen the Holiday Toast. I’ll definitely grab one if I see it!

Everyone must of got a better batch of Peerless than I did. I absolutely can't drink it.

Could be a batch issue, I do really like the Peerless Double Oaks that I’ve tried. Although I think most of their stuff is overpriced.

That’s great that you mixed them all! I’m looking forward to trying more doubles. I’m enjoying my Woodfords and Sagamore Spirit Rye. I’m originally a craft beer guy, but a brewers yeast allergy made me see if bourbon was any good. It is!

Welcome to the whiskey world! Sagamore Double Oaked is awesome, I think a lot of craft beer guys tend to enjoy a good rye. I’d also keep an eye out for store picks of Nulu Double Oaked. Very similar flavor profile to the Sagamore but at cask strength. I got one recently, totally blew me away!

Nope, I don’t have it. Haven’t seen it in the DC area but I’ll keep an eye out!

Both the 1910 and WRDO ended up being once and done buys for me. At this point, I hesitate to invest in any other double oaked product.

Might want to try some of the higher proof options? And definitely try and sample before you buy. I got a Nulu double oaked rye store pick recently that’s unbelievable. Pretty sure it would have crushed everything else in the blind but I didn’t include any ryes. But I don’t blame you, stick with what you like. It hurts to spend $60+ on a bottle only to find out you don’t like it.

      @@averagejoeswhiskey,
Glad you didn't include the rye!
A very popular channel recently did a blind and included a rye in with a bunch of bourbons. There were a number of Comments to that video saying a rye should not have been included. One guy said the rye could affect the tasting of the bourbon coming after it and another guy said the rye is obviously going to come in first or last depending upon the taster's preference for bourbon or rye. Well, that rye beat out all the bourbons in the blind.

Yeah I saw that. It would make sense to include ryes if you’re just ranking best double oaked whiskey. But then you’d probably want to include more than one. I figured if I added one rye, I’d have to include all the double oaked ryes. Same reason I didn’t include toasted, I’d end up trying to blind 15+ bottles. As far as rye affecting the tasting, different bourbons will affect it too. That’s why the order is important unless you go back through.
But obviously there are no real rules to this, and the BJs are killing it, they can do whatever they want. But just for the record my video came out first lol
