I know this is is an unpopular opinion but American me > Blood in Blood out. At least when it comes to the acting. I think most ppl choose Blood in Blood out because of all the drama behind American Me. How ever comparing both films counter parts American Me is levels above. Lets start of with Miclo played by Damian Chapa vs JD played by William Forsythe although Miclo plays a more prominent role than JD Damian isnt as good of an actor as William & the delivery of some of Damian's lines werent that good especially when he tried speaking Spanish. Im not hating on a non native speaker trying speak the language props to him for trying. However that doesn't change the fact they were less than perfect. Then we have Santana played by Almos vs Montana played by Enrique Castillo not only does Santana play a bigger role but he kills every scene hes in. Now Castillo did good as well but he waant in many scenes plus he was portrayed weaker than Santana imo if you take out the gRape scene. I get that BIBO is more about Miclo while AM is about Santana & thats why Montana is taking out earlier in the film than Santana who dies pretty much in the last scene. Even Santana's death scene hit harder than Montana. Both were tragic but Montana got tricked & didnt see it coming while Santana died by his own rule plus he knew it was coming & didnt run from it or aak for protective custody. With that said theres a few things i did like better in Blood in ood out. 1 was the Dynamic with Miclo, Paco & Cruz they did great at portraying theyre friendship thru the ups & down since American me fast fowards to Santana getting out & it focuses it more on him rather unlike BIBO which focuses alot on the frienship we dont see the in between we mostly see the beginning & the end of the friendship between Santana Mundo & JD. 2. Although Miclo is probably the main focus i think Benjamin Pratt & especially Jesse Borrego as Cruz killed their parts. Like if we compare the 2 cemeteries scenes when Cruz & his family make amends is much greater than when Santana & his dad do after he tells him he always resented him because he might be the gRapist child not his. Also i love the final seen with them onthe riverbank
