I attended UCSB from 81-87 and finally graduated from there. Took some time off in between to serve in the military. Some of that Chicano culture is gang culture. I grew up surrounded by gangs and resisted their influence because they were fools. That particular clothing style, appearance, low rider stuff is all gang culture and as a mexican american I rejected all that. But youre right we are not mexican, we are a separate culture.
