When you made the first one a few years ago, I had the idea to make one with the metal cap and give it to my dad for his birthday. My mom and dad still walk the neighborhood with it.
Thats very cool, i'm glad that other stick inspired you to make one mate, cheers for watching Dave.
You can tell this man walks softly.
Nice one for the great idea, I made a staff with the full size handle, rounded the end stained it dark oak and varnished, turned out great, going to be doing a walking stick next.😁👍🏻
Beautiful craftsmanship
That looks wicked mike I find it amazing how you make stuff with some simple looking materials and tools your very talented 💯👌💯
Thank You Smiley, i'll be honest i was really happy with this, and only took an evening too, glad you liked it mate!
WeaponCollector definitely did 💯👍💯
Nice job, it looks really good.
I never thought of using some of my leather dye on a stick. Great idea. I will try it on a spare closet clothes rod I have. Nice, simple and informative video as well.
its work very well to stain the wood, putting varnish on can sometimes have a bit if a reaction - then yo mix with the varnish, not an issue usually, but if it drips onto the ferrule you can see it, but can be wiped of easily, still a good overall dye though.
Stunning !!!!
Looks great! Thanks for this share. 👍
I plan on making a self defense walking stick from two red oak planks from Lows in the U.S. as that is the most prevalent "strong wood" I have access to. Still planning it out in my head.
Thanks Chris, red oak will make a lovely walking stick i reckon,
Lol that things a beast of walking stick. Nice build the groves add good grip.
Thanks Ryan, came out pretty nice didn't it, I really liked that stain too.
Bill Sikes staff comes to mind, for those who know their Dickens.
Ah, it's a beauty. Good work, sir.
Thanks mate, glad you liked it.
That looks really smart Mike, great work mate!
Thanks Stu, I will do a few more I reckon, really happy with this one.
Nice one Mike, excellent work!
Thanks Stug, glad you liked it mate, cheers.
this is gonna be awesome, been thinking about making one of these for a while
Thanks Ethan, hope this helps you out, i will do more soon, really enjoyed making this one.
Nice ! I do like a good stick as you know, and you've done a really good job on that one - your best stick yet !
Thanks Zed, I am very happy with this one came out nice with that leather stain and has inspired me to do more again, might make a slimmer one like jackstriker used to carry, what was his one? I remember it was something to do with the railway workers wasn't it?, or was it a miner deputy stick?
On a walk in a location with my wife and son some fool though it a good idea to challenge us thinking I was old and a push over and tried to mug us ? I had my blackthorn hill walking Cain and he gave me no other option but to teach him a painful lesson in how not to treat people he thought were weak and an easy target. He is a landowner now as as I gave him a couple of ackers with a swift smack in the knacker's and a jab in the back to wind him to the point of not getting up till we left the area! You never know when a idiot may show up, my ex Army motto was ready for anything after all. By the way it's a walking stick to aid me as I have a back condition and need this for additional support, it's not a weapon of any disruption but in a given situation and fear for my life and families I was left with no other option but to protect and protect I did!
Looks good, I must get around to making a walking stick some time.
Thanks mate, i really liked the outcome with this one, and will defo do more myself.
Looks pretty awesome and very functional. It would be a serious self-defense stick with those dimensions and the beech wood.
Thanks Robert, glad you liked it, should be a very solid stick shouldn't it. cheers mate
That's a good looking stick, I think I might give this a try.
Thank you, glad you liked it mate, cheers
It came out really nice, I love the old antique look to it. It is like a super long trench club. Over all, good work.
Thanks John, your right it is like an over sized trench club isn't it, glad you liked it and thanks for watching.
@@WeaponCollector no problem. I thought you were going to do a cane sword, but this is still really cool. I now might have to make 2 cane weapons. One cane sword and one cane club.
@@john_free_thinker cane swords and other disguised weapons are illegal here in the UK.
@@sleepyrasta14820 Really, wow. I am happy to live in the U.S. Even blue states are ok with that stuff, mostly.
Nice one and it doesn't look too aggressive
Cheers Peach, yeah thats partly why i added the spiral, thought it would make it look much more like a non aggressive walking stick.
Looks wicked 😎
Thanks mate
Because of my bad back and knee I prefer a staff because its easier to use to support me when standing still so I was mentally screaming NO when you cut that pole although I dont think it would have been tall enough anyway. the finished stick looked great
Nice work. I've done 2 double twists sticks with a knife. That took a long time. I think I'll be getting some new tools
Sounds great, hopefully this will work well you you!
awesome job
Thanks mate
"Do you got a permit for that weapon of mass destruction?"
-Government
Very well done :-)
Thanks Chris
Looks great and its relatively inexpensive? Definitely going to make one for myself!
Thanks for watching, yes, cost around £15 at most i'd say.
Looks great mike i like the spiral a lot. Trench club with the leftover wood?
Thanks mate, glad you liked it, ah yes trench club, good idea, i shall do that if i can find the right head for one!
Neat
Looks quality
Thanks Ironman, cheers mate
Just wondering, have you thought of a brass collar for the sticks? Would it be good or too soft a metal. I would value your opinion. Thank you.
Brass would work great and look nice too, only reason I don't usually do them in brass is because I'd have to buy it, but would work great though.
nice job! now i have to make one! lol.
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful!
Cool like a Shillelagh
Thanks mate, it is similar to shillilagh isn't it.
Very nice Dear Sir 👍
Thanks mate
That is a really nice piece of work, if you ever make another, may I suggest you taper the bottom end a little more then add an "Alpine Spike" type ferrule, they're fairly easy to find online. Once again, very nice work!!
Looks really good mate! How long did it take you to make it? :)
Thanks Dan, glad you liked it mate, it was all done in one evening, from about 7pm till 10pm
Super!
Can you make One!
Awesome, if you call it a defense stick in the UK and use it for that purpose it becomes illegal, however if its a walking stick and you need to defend yourself with it, it's not. I read that somewhere so just might be bollox.
So, lemme test my understanding here... The Brits have made _sticks_ illegal too?
@@asurasyn my understanding is only if you carry for self defense.
actually, only if you admit to it.
If its hip length or slitly taller its a cane if its any taller is a walking 🚶 stick so ur makeing a cane last time was a walking 🚶 stick
Nice
Thanks mate.
I'll be making one of them looks good
@@gashgoblin9987 Doesn't take long to make either mate, took about 3 hours and that was with filming too.
You can cut off about 11” off the top and make a scabbard, then fix a 10” blade to the bottom, now you will have a 30” short spear with a 10” blade
Totally illegal.
Fuckin el. Imagine turning up with two of them for a Nordic walking class. 👍
If I find myself needing to fend off some illegal boat arrivals, how many will she dispatch before she wears out or will she keep going? Asking for a mate who needs a walking stick due to dizzy problems. Cheers.
Thank you for that English Friar Tuck..
Tory?
Even the cut off could be made into a truncheon
Thanks Phil yeah that off cut would make a good truncheon wouldn't it and it's only cost a tenner for a walking stick and truncheon.
@@WeaponCollector win win situation
That's the left over bit I imagine? Lol
Good job Mike, Hope no one will be brave enough to f*ck with someone who has this :)
Thanks mate, glad you liked it!
I like your content, but the lens you use makes every thing look bent (or not straight). Its annoying as hell.
I'm saving up for another camera as I don't like it either, it's hard though as I have no job, get no benefit money either and I'm demonetised on UA-cam
@@WeaponCollector Ah. Good luck. Why are you demonitized?
Wrap some barbed wire around it 😝
haha, maybe next time, lol
A less conspicuous option would be studded leather.
Would look more badass and add some steel studs to rip and tear if needed.
.....nice design Mike, a bit of a barley twist effect, finished nicely ......... because I'm jealous I'm gonna give you a thumbs down......... ......just jokeing......
hahaha, thanks Roy, came out nice ion the end didn't it. glad you liked it.
Probably an offence to carry a walking stick soon
Hopefully not mate, lol, cheers for watching Steve.
Oh gawd... There's always one misery guts, isn't there... Besides, they won't ban them, they'd lose the " Grey Vote ( pensioners ) " for ever if they were stupid enough to do that. And probably the Hunting, Shooting, and Fishing Brigade as well lol.
@@zednotzee7 not a misery guts at all, just seen all the things from being a kid getting banned. Nanny state is alive and well
