So evocative of another time, I think you have to be a certain age to get this. The world was very different back then and I’m glad I was part of it. Sad and sweet and innocent, brings a tear to the eye.
I feel like I have lived 10 lifetimes in my 60 years. I can't even recognize myself from when I was a child, young adult, young wife, mom/single mom, middle age, 2nd marriage(21 years ago!), and all the many trials and tribulations I have been through. So many bittersweet memories. The world has changed, so much. Not for the better, imo. Growing older is kinda sad. 😢😔
Hang in there love, life is pretty much an emotional roller coaster, try to remember all the good things and keep smiling because you’ll have good times ahead. As you say “growing older is kinda sad” but a line from one of Dusty’s songs says…thinking young and growing older is no sin and you can still play the game of life to win.❤️
You are poetic in a profane way. And if you do not see poetry in your words, please consider that you have aged like a fine wine and only you can distinguish and discern the expressions you fatefully live. Perhaps even, the ability to regret will fall away...
boring. the original is already perfect. it's a poem + a baroque melody so it should be sung at a fast tempo. doesn't need unnecessary over-dramatic whining

This was my favorite piece of music to play slowly, cresending at just the right moments for emphasis. So soulful, emotional, and thought provoking. I Love the lyrics. 🌿🎶🎵🎹
1969 I was 8 and watching my parents going out to clubs and hotels. My mother looking glamorous in evening wear, and my father in a tuxedo going out to big events. Next morning my mother would tell me where they went, who they dined with, the food and the entertainment. The 60s seemed a very sophisticated time to me.
Dusty Springfield my all time favorite female artist. Love her songs, her strong, clear voice. This song is hauntingly beautiful. She was fantastic. Sorry she is no longer with us.
😂 Damn! Someone quoting Janis Ian totally takes me back to the 1970s (in a kind of "I want to barf at how pretentious my brother's friends are kind of way, but that's another story). "Their own class!" Totally. Thankfully. Respect! 👍
@@michaelwehle5136 Interesting phrase! "I want to barf at how pretentious my brother's friends are, kind of way." Please expand. PS: The Janice Ian Album is a masterpiece, and the album version of "At 17" is superior to the single.
I love and miss Miss Dusty Soringfield soooo much l loved her voice and her great stance even today her voice is just as beautiful and stunning as it was yesterday today and always we miss her and her stunning voice rest in peace with God's love Dusty your voice still makes us puiver girl
Reminds me of happy days as a 11 year old, summers on the beach, or the local outdoor swimming pool or up the mountain, innocent happy times, sometimes I wish I could go back, if only to see my dad, taken to soon 😢
Ah, you just had to fall in love with Steve McQueen. This song will always be iconic. They just don't write them like this anymore. If someone did, chances are the person would be completely ignored. Musical taste has just changed so much.
IMO…. There are movies that have stood the test of time and shouldn’t be remade, updated or touched. Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Pretty Woman. The Thomas Crown Affair didn’t need a redo. Humphrey Bogart is forever Rick Blaine, Clark Gable is forever Rhett Butler, and Steve McQueen will ALWAYS be Thomas Crown. The last 5 minutes of the movie are one of the best endings in movie history. Never mess with success. IMO.
Yes... indeed, it was a different world back then. I am also very glad I was part of it. Today... is quite strange. I'm not sure if I appreciate it, as much. Ah, but perhaps I'll learn, eh..?
I was just a little too hip in 69 when they released this movie. I was 5 going on 6,and music was a very important thing for me. I also thought that Ms Springfield was drop dead gorgeous compared to most singers. I never really watched the movie, but I do remember hearing it a few times on the radio.
Whenever I see & hear something so beautiful, it reminds me that we aren’t evolving, we are becoming more degenerate with each generation. And it probably always has been the case.

Indeed!
I guess it was the best time. It is Nostalgy today. These times will never come back again.
Summed it up perfectly.
Agree WITH you
Maravillosa música y película exquisita 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Three things that old music had: lyrics we could understand, a story to be told and heart.
still does.
So true!!!

Dusty's version of this song is by far the best one. She can tell a story with her voice better than anyone.
In my opinion, Alison Moyet has the best version.
Абсолютно точно. Дасти лучше всех исполнила эту песню.
Sung to slow
The best is Barbra streisand
Listen to Sinne Eeg!!
Dusty’s version will always feel the most romantic to me.

Full of deep emotions.. No other version is that penetrating ..This is the best ever ...
How beautiful were Faye Dunaway and Steve McQueen and this song by Dusty Springfield xxx
Agreed, they were mere mortals like us but were icons too us still.
we are just a bunch of old people who can never forget their youth
Speak for yourself 😂😂😂
IF we DO, it’s like we never lived… Isn’t it..?? “To reminisce is to live again…”

Exactly 😂
I was 17 when I went to see this film in 1968, it was just wonderful and still is
Me too...@ 17... recklessly romantic❤
Faye Dunaway is the last of the great actresses in Hollywood. And Dusty Springfield is one of my fav singers of all time.
I love it !! Dusty Springfield sang this songs awesome. Steve McQueen is so handsome..
I'm 70 now and this song takes me to special places and memories ❤❤❤❤
A beautiful and memorable Dusty Springfield song from 1968! What a voice!
They don’t make actors like this anymore. RIP Steve !
Since CGI.
Michel Legrand, the composer, was a genius and won several oscars with his movie music, including this one. He was also a fantastic jazz pianist.
indeed he was!
What wonderful music!
She hit it out of the park. Like Nancy Sinatra's You Only Live Twice.
You Only Live Twice is my favourite Bond theme and film! Such a beautiful evocative song.
@angelaleishman1570 Mine too.
Какие красивые были раньше люди...что мужчины что женщины....эх, прекрасное время)
Tout à fait d'accord avec vous. Beaux et élégants.
What a magical version of this song, so cool.
And has Faye Dunaway ever looked so good!

Dusty Springfield was such an incredible singer! ❤❤❤❤
What great music and generation. The young people have missed out.
Steve MacQueen was very charming I miss him.
He was Mr Cool in person 😮
There's no one else like him...😢
One of the most beautiful songs ever composed & sung by a phenomenon- Dusty Springfield at Memphis - The Thomas Crown Affair
Lovely ❤❤😊
Dusty Springfield my all time favorite female artist. Love her songs, her strong, clear voice. This song is hauntingly beautiful. She was fantastic. Sorry she is no longer with us.
As Janice Ian said, "When the World was Younger than today" late 60's had their own class!

The song beautifully performed by Dusty Springfield !
Another time and place. I don’t want it to be repeated as it would never be as good
It was repeated and it wasn't as good, sorry Pierce .
That voice, that movie, Steve and Faye and Michel Legrand. Those years.
What a great Film and Theme. Even today I cannot dig, why Steve McQueen had to go so early. Guys like him you consider indestructable.
My absolute favorite McQueen movie.
Cincinnati kid was great
Faye Dunnaway. Absolutely stunning.

This role and Bonny Parker are two iconic movie characters.
The original Thomas Crown Affair, brilliant and classy .

Beautiful song. And funny ending with Thomas GROWN affair... (3:56)
For some reason I only remember late pictures of Faye. A stunning girl even by todays standards!

This was really a nice movie & the lovely voice of Dusty's version as the theme song.I can only say it was remarkable performances ever since
Noel Harrison sang the theme tune to the Thomas crown affair
Many versions but Dusty's is the best, bar none.
Dusty ❤ RIP & great film with fabulous actors 😊 Steve was sooooo Sexy 😊

Astonishing quality. The vidoe suits the music perfectly.
Easily the definitive version of this song. Mind you, it does feature the wonderful Dusty Springfield.

Dusty so memorable
Heard Sting's version, years ago on a film soundtrack before this one...!
