I love it. This is what we did with these cars when new. We bought 396 SS cars in high school for $1,400. They were just used cars we found in the newspaper. Imagine that. No eBay crooks. Great job Patrick.

Thanks for another video showing these beautiful musclecars of the past, Patrick! I had one myself and sold it like a dummy when my wife got pregnant. It was a '71 SS 454 (L78 I think, it was 365 hp 454) the paint was a copper/dark orange color w/black stripes, original paint color according to all the hidden spots that had the same color. I so wish I still had it..... hind sight is 20/20, isn't it? LOL

I turned sixteen in 1974. My older brother was selling cars at the local Ford dealer and had gotten a Regal Red 66 SS 396 4spd on trade for a new Ford pickup. It had around 60k miles on it and was pretty rough. Paint was oxidized badly and the car had numerous dents. Only a couple of rust spots though. There was part of a bag of seed corn sprouting in the trunk (guy who traded it was an old local farmer). I bought it for $300. I started working in a local body shop that fall and we did the body work and changed the color to black. It was a fun first car, and of course I wish I still had it. I ran on to it again around 1983. It was sitting along the road about forty miles from my home town, missing the motor and left rear fender. I was just out of college working my first job with two kids and couldn’t even think about trying to buy it.

I seen a 1972 SS Chevelle LS5 on the road yesterday, it was beautiful, I ask the owner at the red light if it was a LS6, he was truthful when he said it was a LS5, but was some what shocked that I ask him that specific question. I also told him it was a beautiful car, which it was and it was nice seeing out be driven on the road too.

Love the video and collection! Im a Proud owner of a 70 malibu that has been cloned to a ss chevelle (emblems, and stripes), mine is the same color green/white stripes as the one in the vid minus the black vinyl top. Ive owned it since 2004, it started out as a 307/th350 when purchased it had the original engine but had been changed to a powerglide. The drivetrain was really tired and worn out so I swapped in a mild cammed 350/th350, then drove and enjoyed it for several years up until i needed an engine for a K10, the car sat in my barn for approximitely 8 years, somehow it survived almost being sold a few times and was offered a really fair price (at that time anyway)
Before I parked it and pulled the engine, we managed to rebuild the suspension, upgraded to a limited slip differential and changed it over to a 4 speed transmission (best thing ever)!! Finally, after all these years we built a new roller cam 350 engine got it back on the road a few months ago. I had thoughts of selling it a few times but I am soooooooo glad I kept it! The 70 chevelle has been my favorite car since i can remember! Back in the mid 80s my father had one 1970 SS 396 Muncie 4 speed.
It sound amazing, drives great and turns heads every time I go for a spin , my car is no shop ornament it gets driven regularly and spirited.

He has hundreds of videos, imagine if you had 10 questions for 100 videos you posted over the years, well you would have to sit down and answer 10,000 messages per day, every day, for the rest of your life! Now for the answer to that 8, it could possibly be from a quirky line assembler just marking his work. I do it on the cars I repair so if I ever see the car again, I know I personally touched the car. And the 8 could have even been stamped from being a car rental or in a fleet of vehicles as I have done that before as well. Nobody will ever know for certain. And to also add more questions to who and why the 8 was stamped, that is a large vintage scripture ww2 era. I highly doubt it was done at the factory but anyone could have brought in their own set of stamps as their signature but they would have been fired. But who knows!? I watched one video where a Kenworth line worker wrote his name in welds under the 5th wheel plate for the BJ and the Bear tv show. That is how that truck was authenticated because they tracked down the man who helped build it and he admitted he did it but never thought anyone would find it.

You made the comment that Atlanta built cars had the build sheet hidden behind the door panel. Well I can tell you for a fact that this is not always true. I purchased a used 1970 LS 6 car in 1972 from a local Pontiac dealer that had just been traded in. It was red with a red interior, turbo 400, cowl hood and instruments. It had about 48,000 miles and I bought it for $2400.00. The transmission slipped going into 3 rd gear so a condition of the sale was that they fixed it which they did. Some time later during the modification period that always happened to cars like this just after you got it, I was removing the carpet for some reason I don't remember and I of course had to remove the back seat. I discovered this folded up piece of paper with all these numbers and boxes on it and someone told me that this was the build sheet and all cars had one. Back in 1972 this didn't mean much but I kept it and still have it. The build sheet was stuck into the springs of the seat bottom. The car was built at the Lakewood plant in Atlanta and the selling dealer was Gordon Thompson Chevrolet in Jacksonville, Fla., where I lived at the time. A few years later I was transferred to Atlanta and have been by that plant many times which is closed now. I would be happy to share the build sheet with you to prove this. The car was later stolen from my apartment and never recovered. Jax was a small town then and all the street racers knew each other and their cars usually. It was a fun ride and I have had many other big block cars since but these were indeed very special, even then.

@@joelackey8205 It is a beauty.. The style and body lines are without a doubt the best looking Chevelle's ever made. I don't know why they only produced these cars for 66 and 67..

@Philly's Phinest Wow if only you knew back then, could have parked it in a garage and sat on it.. That must have been a long time ago, one thing for sure we all have regrets of not acting upon deals of a lifetime..

Maybe cowl induction hoods didn’t have hood pins but all the cool guys had them. Get a vacuum and a small paint brush and clean out those air vents!🤣🤣🤣

    Hey Pat,
I heard that there is no definite production count on 1970 LS6 Convertibles, is this
true? And how unbelievable would it be to stumble across an LS6 convertible barn
    find!
Keep 'Em coming in the meantime!
