- Freiburger and Dulcich take the racecar out of the '70 Plymouth Duster known as the Crop Duster and make it streetable. With its new 440 V-8 and gearing, the car finally ran 10s at the strip. Now the guys attempt to make it slower and quieter for more drivability off the track.

What do you think of the streetable version of the Crop Duster?
love it. The looser converter bridges the gap between too much and not enough
Love it!!!❤ One thing I always hated with the Holley was having to change the power valve after it would burp and backfire....thanks for another great video Steve and Dave!!!!
Great car! I raced a Super Stock 340 Duster back in the 70s. It ran 11.20s @ 121mph. Can't even imagine running it on the street with the tires back then. 😂
Pretty darn quick.
Love the car! Street or race trim is drive it! MoPar or no car!! 🏁🏁
We need the full episodes of the crop duster on youtube please
Yes ! Please do the full episodes, please! From Vespa Squash!!
Or at least allow non US viewers like myself to pay for it. I had a paid subscription but you guys cancelled it. You yanks and your foreign policies are bloody mental.
Amen
Get a day job!😊😊
GREAT VIDEO DAVID!!! I LOVE THE CROP DUSTER AND THE EVOLUTION OF IT!!!! I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU ARE ENJOYING IT AGAIN.
You got your caps lock stuck on there buddy
Roadkill garage is my favorite show and the Crop Duster is my favorite car!!!!
The dream team wins again .cool video. You guys rock
Painting 11s up the road.
It looks rowdy. There's something about Duster proportions that I never loved. I think it's that the C-pillars are a bit too far forward, making it look like it has a load in its shorts.
We need a drag race between the crop duster vs crusher impala vs the og roadkill muscle truck
Not a bad idea 👀
My buddy had an old, crumbling Duster, it was a nice car but he never got anything out of it but daily driver.
Put a dusters track day together
I'm so used to seeing Steve with a chipped tooth, it looks weird to me now that he got it fixed
What mufflers did he go with can’t see the hole video
"Oldschool red and blue AN fittings" - Mate what? That's current-school, oldschool is black rubber lines
Thankyou David for taking in that homeless man and giving him a job
😂😂😂
If drivability is the goal... Why not EFI?? Not being a smart aleck, just asking.
Carburetors are perfectly fine if you know what you're doing. If you don't, then pay for a self learning, complicated, unreliable EFI.
Release everything on UA-cam.
Just run ads - its a bigger audince, by the millions.
ooooohooo, motortrend, which I gotta pay 5$ to use, only to watch two, maybe three shows which maybe realease once a month.
pffff
EFI and overdrive... these are the things that helped make "un-streetable" engines and running big number gears in the drive axle "livable". And who doesn't run a PCV system on a street car? It was the first thing the factory did just to curb smog-producing emissions, and it proved far-better than the road draft tube system it replaced!
EFI still likes some vacuum signal, but i'm always shocked folks don't use variable duration hydraulic lifters from Crane or Rhoads. They've been around since the 1960's and go to 6,500 rpm. I have 'em on a 461 cid Olds with a .490 lift/260 duration split cam, and once it's warm, she'll pull away in 1:1 third gear (THM400, switch pitch torque converter with 1,800 or 3,300 rpm stall speed choices) with a 3:1 rear gear ratio and run all day in just that gear. of course it helps to have a spread bore carb like a Carter or a Rochester, and I have an ancient Allison captive discharge ignition that fires through anything.
but overdrive is next on the list--probably a Gear Vendors for the price of a THM200R4. And yeah, PCV is sooo much better than the stinky road draft tubes.
The old bodyman says a rubber bumper on the cowl in the center will keep the hood at the correct height. I’ve had the same issue before with a fiberglass hood.
funny thing is in the prior century, we'd raise the back of the hood on a big block setup like this intentionally to let the hot air out. so its "period correct" :P)
That's how I fixed my fiberglass cowl hood from sagging after I had to cut some bracing out.

I really love the "Crop Duster", very cool car, Steve is one of my favorites motortend hosts, And Dave can break things down so anyone can understand what he is talking about or working on. Awesome Content guys. Keep up the great and hard work!!!
My favorite car you have
Best car on Roadkill. God i love that body style of Duster. I'd love to see it manual trans swapped.
I liked the video to begin with, but after being slaughtered for content, I disliked it.
Like, dude?
I hate these short tease videos. Put up the whole show please
Get the fiberglass REALLY hot with heat guns and it becomes pliable … then put it where you want it and quench with dry ice. I guaranty you it works like a dream.
This is my favorite car you both have ever done...my favorite mopar model...
This is the best car they ever built.
Sweet 👍
Nice Duster, very Streetable now.
You could do a full on Motortrend cruise trip in this car now.
Great job guys.👍👍💯
I love that car it's one of my favorites love the sound the color also the way it pulls out my uncle had a 71 with a 440 back in the day and it was lots of fun to play with 👍👍
It might be punched way out to 440, but still sounds like a 383. Good show!
The crop duster have the best sound car ever made ❤❤
Can you change the bowl out from the black to the gold ????
I'm profoundly moved by your video! - "Triumph emerges from persistent effort.."
Love those cars.
California rust free. Sweet
That car is sweet
Sounds killer!
Back when J.C. Penny's did auto repair. One of their mechanics told me about the rubber hose trick for replacing spark plugs.
The Centerlines are killer.
best friends of rust and gas..
thanks guys. seems easy but I can imagine the hassle...
Nice to see a car that isn't all clapped out !
agreed, instead of doing dumb things with cars, i'd like to see some episodes where they spruce up some of the stuff they have. i mean, yeah, my own stuff has the "barn find" look, but the rotsun for example really deserves some love.
I just want the old ways of roadkill back on youtube
Dave, uyou and Steve need to look at the A518.
3.25 range gears are still "good" street performance gears. They're just not "drag" performance like 3.75 range + gears. I don't consider anything "highway" (non-performance) gears until 3.00 range - gears.
agree with your accessment. my olds 442 is running 3:1 and gets 15 mpg, my 86 GT mustang has 2.73:1 and gets 30mph if i coast.
440s can work VERY WELL with 3.23s.
Nice solid Duster.
It still does it👍🏾😎🤳
Great post and love the direction you took the duster and as a GM lover I must say I always had love for the Dusters and Scamps and always good to see one crusin the streets.👍🏽🔥🔥🔥🏁🏁🏁
Thanks and both of those are some true classics!
Favorite car on the show
The Crop Duster on Cragars looks soooo good!
I thought Holley stopped making their carburetors and edlebrock was gonna start making the holley style still
Glad to see the cragers back on it!
This episode was so good i love this series. Steve is a super star.😢
I had a 71 duster with a 383 & 440 crank = 430 cubic inch. Made 525 hp and 550 TQ 3.73 gears, from Dr Diff. car was not all that street friendly, I hated it. I should have built a small block for it. Car was 3100 LBS with the big block and lots of aluminum and glass pin on hood.
This is awesome. I miss MTOD in the UK. I can't get any of these good shows anymore
im in uk and get all motortrend shows
How?

…ya know, being the chief editor of Hot Rod Magazine kinda makes him the Hot Rod Yoda _(Hot Rod in context including Muscle Cars & Non-Military Jeeps)_
Awesome.
You already proved that exhaust cutouts don't hurt horse horsepower.
Dusters don't get enough love in the car world. Mopar guys know the get down tho. A slapper Cam and some headers nothing to be trifled with.
Wasnt the Gold Duster the Dad or Granpa Duster......... i might be wrong. Greg
dudes roadkill garage?new episodes when?also dirt every day, come on why did that get cancelled,
I would like to see 6-pack under the hood.
I built a 70 because of this car! Where and when do you guys run it next?
Gear vender!!
Put a darn gear vendor overdrive in it and some mufflers
Geeze quit being a sissy
Steve is a beast!!! possibly smarter than you mr. David
Steve make his own Mopar channel will be a big hit!!
Leave motor alone change gears in the rear end that's all u need.......
You guys are Great 👍
The pity is that the next generation will crush these cars...
Why is this car lacking rusty and peeling paint?
What's happening with this show? Been months since we last had a new episode! Also, what's going on with MTs shows lately? Only roadkill, faster with newbern and cotton and roadworthy rescues are worth watching....guys got rid of dirt every day but brings in Dave from time to time and Hot Rod garage is really unwatchable, there seems to be some awkwardness between Lucky and Alex...kinda makes it difficult to watch
"This is probably my single nicest car."
What about the 67 Crusher Camaro and the 70 Super Bee ?
That said, great and impressive job !
I had a Orange 70 340 Duster wrapped it around a 70 Mavrick it would go 150 mph atheist that's what the speedometer read
Appropriately apply some black vinyl, evade a few LEOs, and VIOLA! 'Cop Duster!'
Great mechanics
I had a 1971 Plymouth duster in 1977 when I got married. It had a 318 with the automatic. Bench seat. It was an ergonomic disaster for me. Drove it from CA to MT when I first joined the USAF. My neck never hurt so much as after that drive.
I remember changing plugs in a friend's 67 440 barracuda using the hose method. That was 1973 or 74.
Whoa these guys aged a bit since I last watched them on UA-cam before they went on for paid content. Ahh we all age at some point..keep them engines roaring guys
Another motorhome 440 with a 5 speed and 3.31 or 3.55 gears and she's a cruiser.
Perfect engine noises. Sounds big and beefy, but won't wake the neighbors at 3 am.
7/8 X 20 vs. -8 oring.
Gearvendor overdrive
so is the red one son of crop duster?
Needs the disc wheels back, but then I never was a fan of 5 spoke wheels to begin with.
Sweet ride!!!
👍👍
If ya don't love these guys and their shows, you have missed the essence of life.
Just watched the full episode on MT Channel, fun time.
After the guy fixes the hood can you ask him nicely to install a 8 track?
Why y'all taking it apart and making it slower
Making it more practical. They don't ALL have to be race cars. In fact, it probably won't slow it down that much.
72 grille
only do or doodoo
sniper efi?
Personally the Centerlines were sooo much nicer
Matter of taste. I like the Cragars. Just like when Finn put the dark colored wheels on Blasphemy. Some people loved it but I thought looked yucky even though magnesium gasser day nostalgic. The Centerlines looked period '70s drag on CropDuster but the Cragars look street sweet.
I see the bangshift cougar has a new hood
What about 3.55 in the back?
The upholstery is sick
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST
👍🏿
